    The best airline to get on with is the airline you get on with. You never know where your career is going to take you. There was 3 mergers in my 37 year career starting with Empire Airlines, Piedmont Airlines, US Airways and American Airlines. Hang on and enjoy the ride 👨‍✈️👨‍✈️

      Same here 38 years . Piedmont, US Air , AA ....It was a rough ride for a bit , but looking back it all worked out . The most important advice I can offer to those just starting out is live within your means and get married only once . Don't sleep with F/A's .

    Thank you for sharing, but what might be more helpful is to look at seniority progression over the next 20-30 years compared side-by-side, based on attrition of those already on property, rather than just looking at 2024.

      Hey @germb747 I appreciate the feedback. Have you ever heard in the 1 in 60 rule? Basically, trying to predict what will happen in the next 8 months is almost completely impossible and improbable in and of itself. The unfortunate part is that most airlines don’t have retirement data beyond 10 years. Trust me when I say I’ve tried to figure it out but beyond 5 years it becomes and absolute mess. Lastly, airlines shrinking or growing can SIGNIFICANTLY change the numbers and I have my doubts about some airlines predictions over the next 2 years let alone, 20 or 30. If someone claimed to know with accuracy what airline seniority progressions would be over 30 years they would be purely guessing. That’s why I refuse to try to give that a swing. Hope this gives some clarity why I only chose 8 months.

    The one thing you fail to mention, is that why UPS may be the best gain this year, after this year, they’re not gonna hire again with those kind of numbers for the foreseeable future so in a five year or longer outlook, probably the worst place to go for seniority progression.

    • @JGoodZX6R
      @JGoodZX6R Месяц назад

      Yep, and they just recently claimed the 300 number for the USPS contract May only be around 160 needed.

      This is a 8 month forecast. Not a 5 year forecast. trying to predict 2 years is nearly impossible so any assumptions beyond that is pure speculation and lacks no accuracy and only anecdotal data at best. So i'm not arguing one way or another but to assume anything beyond this year is just gambling.

    Hey Aaron, by any chance do you know how long global reserve (or maybe reserve in general) currently is taking at your airline on the 787 at SFO for new hires? Thanks

    • @PilotPulseChannel
      @PilotPulseChannel  17 дней назад

      Hey Robert! SFO 787 FO currently had vacancies every bid period. You could be awarded 737 FO AT INDOC and be in class for 787 school within about 4 months. We currently have about 1 vacancy per month so things would happen very fast!

    Hey there, got an off topic question. As a recruiter and interviewer, should a candidate bring up things that have been expunged from their record during an interview.

    • @PilotPulseChannel
      @PilotPulseChannel  19 дней назад

      I’m for example, I had two speeding tickets expunged off my record but I chose to disclose those at the recommendation of the application and interview prep company that I paid to review my information. It shows honesty above policy.

    You should do a video series about each age with seniority progression. 25/30/40/50/55. Btw Delta currently has 17.3 as of April seniority list which has classes up to end of March.

      I would love too, however predicting anything beyond 1-2 years becomes incredibly impossible. the truth is really boring in this explanation but I can only predict based on numbers and information on here and today and unfortunately, future hiring plans and numbers are subjected to change weekly and one little change can have huge implications on the outcome 2 years from now let alone over the next 5, 10, or 15 years. It would be no different than going to casino and gambling.

      @@PilotPulseChannel all you have to do is preface it with “as it stands today based on retirements alone”. Do what you like but I think a lot of the guys trying to enter our industry would appreciate some of that and it could be a good video series if you’re looking for ideas.

    Since you have identified what airline you work for, I suspect you will be reluctant to answer my questions, and will feel compelled to be politically correct. Let me start by saying my favorite airline was Continental, and when they merged with United, I had hoped the most positive aspects of their airline would be transferred to United. I will not say anything further on that front as it is not relevant to my line of thought on this subject, but suffice to say, I current fly United most of the time.
    However I am having second thoughts about continuing to fly with them because of United's DEI hiring initiative, where they have set a goal to hire 50% of future pilots that are women & minorities. They even bragged that the last recruitment class exceeded their goal, almost reaching 80%.
    Even worse, they have partnered with two historically black colleges to recruit pilots, and the two colleges they have chosen are in the lowest 2% academically in the nation. So they are not only trying to have fewer white men (which is discriminatory in and of itself), but they are not trying to recruit the brightest and best, even from the pool of women/minorities. It sounds insane, but is happening.
    So how does that sit with you and other current pilots, who presumably are smart and have experience greater than what United is looking to hire these days?
