Another pro-tip: Don't just use white for stars! Stars appear to be varying colors to our eye. Use pale blues, yellows and reds (sparingly) when painting stars was well :3
I'd say if depends on the view. If you want a surreal looking sky with beautiful stars, then your point is excellent. However, in real life (especially living in a place like I do) the stars are always white (unless it is a satellite or aircraft in the sky) because only the brightest stars will shine through all of the light pollution.
wow you made that look so easy ive tried and tried and have failed lol Ive watched a lot of how to videos for the Moon but honestly yours is the best.I cant wait to try it now. Thank you so much
This was really great, thank you! The kids and I painted night sky scenes after watching this, it was such fun! Love your channel, these tutorials are wonderful.
Spectacular ! you are extremely talented! i am retired & took up painting in august. i Love the moon and you are an inspiration to me! could you please say the colors you're using, it would be helpful for us neophytes?! thank you for sharing your God given talents and personality!! So Gifted!
Looks so easy if Lisa shows it and looks incredibly nice. 👏🥰 Well, it’s my first acrylic painting and now I’m crying. I’ve been already struggling with the background! Not to mention the rest of it. 😢😡😢
Hi Lisa, love this piece and the color choices. Is it possible for you to do a video on just, blending acrylics? I seem to have a mental block on when to stop blending, and applying colors to anatomy to show subtle changes. The you tube speed videos sometimes make it hard to see your brush sizes and technique. I will join Patreon soon to see your work in real time, but any input would really be appreciated. Thanks.
+Andrew Stovell This video may help ruclips.net/video/GMa99g2KGZM/видео.html But really it all comes down to practice. It helps to watch videos but nothing is going to replace learning through trial and error. Lots of error lol.
Hey, thanks! I'm using this to finish a painting that looked "incomplete" to me. Wish I found it before I attempted a foreground, but I can always redo it!
+Colin Jewett Style just comes from experience and practice. It's not really something you just decide to do. I've been painting and drawing my whole life :)
Hello Lisa, thank you for this video! can I use the same technique you used for the syars to paint fireflies. Is it possible to use colored pencils for the fireflies or stars?
+Magui Zacarías You could but with fireflies you would probably want more of a glow around them. I paint them with an airbrush so they can have a soft glow.
Thank you!! I managed to do everything free handed. A free handed circle XD it's not easy. But I did it, especially painting a moon for the first time on canvas haha.
I know im asking randomly but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Carl Leon thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I usually use two brushes and take one for the white paint and how's the other one underneath it And usually just tap the two brushes together Is that good??? Bad????
+1979carmens however my only concern would be poking a hole through the canvas cause the needles so sharp and also I've never seen white lead for compasses.
Creating perfect circles are pretty easy if you just use your shoulder and keep going in circles for a while then outline the average radius. Hard to explain through text but it works great if you have no compass.
I like this painting but I think it would look better with the grass in the shadow since its lit by only moonlight. Moonlight isn't bright enough to light up the grass to see the green color that well.
Hie Lisa! I'm signed up on the email list, but I think I lost the original link to the 2 hour orca video. Is there some other way I can get it again? I try clicking on the picture in the newsletter, but it doesn't work (none of the links work for me :/), Thanks!
Really like your videos and I have learned a lot from you. Being a 'baby boomer' and a beginner, it would help a lot if you could not speak so fast! My mind cannot keep up with what you're saying and I have to re-watch parts multiple times. If you find that difficult to do, I understand. No reason to change just for one person. In any event, keep up the good work and I will continue watching. I'm going to subscribe now. Thanks for all you do.

Just finished painting this one, fun and I love painting in ways to simplify an idea like with using the background for the moon.

Btw, the painting is amazing!
Very cool and fun technique! :D
How did you come up with your style of paintings, and how long did you study fine arts -love Colin

Lisa would you send me a link to purchase a sphere stencil. I'm having trouble finding a good one:)
+Darlene Conard I just get them from Hobby Lobby. For this I used a bowl from my kitchen to get the circle.
OK Cool!!! Thanks Lisa;)
Amazing.
So nice!

@Carl Leon It worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account!

wowww You really are an artist .sooooooooo cute
How do you do the background for this
How did you make the moon outline perfectly round?
+1979carmens true but it looks more like she used a compass because it would still seem hard tracing a perfect circle.
+1979carmens however my only concern would be poking a hole through the canvas cause the needles so sharp and also I've never seen white lead for compasses.

+000bullets I traced one of my kitchen bowls :P

+Marcus Moylan lachri.com/critiques
Ok but I have o printer to print and then write with a pen/pencil!
Super! Thanks so much!
thank you so much
Again a beautiful artwork Lisa. What's with the thumb? Overdone it or got bitten by one of your assistants? :) Thanks for sharing.
+ldjtje LOL no, I sliced it on one of my nail stamping plates. Those edges are sharp as it turns out!
Amazing!
how does the background not smudge when u do this?
You have to let it dry before painting on top of it
Thank you 💕
Good job with those "round circles" for smudging/blending. I would hate to see square circles. ;P
+ZigZagKitty Square circles are the worst! haha
Rude.
You're amazing
Just subscribed - beautiful and thanks
I'm actually painting this on canvas now.
I like it.....very cool! TFS
If you own your apartment you can get thicker insulation & better windows it will help
+kittycat0876 I rent, so that isn't an option for me at this point :)

Thank you for saying it out loud. I wonder how young people can understand each other, they all speak so fast.
Lisa admits she talks fast, lol.
can you rap? I mean if you can talk fast you must be good at rapping too.
You talk so fast :)
+Marcus Moylan Yes, yes I do lol.
It's fine just overwhelming :)
Amazing!
