I’ve only been painting for the last year or so, making mixed media canvases currently working on a sea horse and this is the first tutorial that’s made sense and shown what I needed without having to watch half an hour or more of pointless chat so thank you !
Awesome demonstration! I like the way you were very detailed about the products you used and the "why" behind each of the paint strokes. Paintings so simple yet with lots of depth. I love it! Thanks for the tutorial.
Lovely bubbles and water droplets. You make the technique look so simple. Enjoyed listening to the lovely violin music in the background, very calming. Would have been nice to have that music with me on my recent time in hospital, at least I'm out now. God Bless and keep up the great videos.
All of your tutorials are so well done. Very instructive, helpful and inspiring. Easy peesy water drops! Who knew. Your paintings are wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise.
You just became my favorite artist, thank you for teaching us. its hard to find someone who isn't stingy with their knowledge. Congratulations on all of your success, and again, THANK YOU!
i have watched your videos for some time now… and always enjoy your creations.. But i must comment on how amazing of a teacher you are. You are so very detailed in your descriptions. I also loved how you gave demonstrations with several styles and situations.Very cool Thank you!
This is the first and only video I've seen from your channel but I intend on watching ALL of them. I plan on majoring in art education and I need a little bit of help with my painting. Painting is not a class that is offered at my high school, so I'm hoping I can learn from you! I thought this was a wonderful tutorial and I can't wait to watch the rest of your videos!
6 years later and this is still very helpful! I was also wondering what type of music was in the background to listen to while i paint only to find out it's you playing violin👏 amazing job, thank you
I am so glad I came across this tutorial. I'm planning on making a underwater reef painting to commemorate the Aquarium trip that my husband and I took for our 3 yr wedding anniversary. I wanted to add in bubbles but didn't know how to do them. I'm still a beginner with acrylic painting. But tutorial was simple to understand !! Thank you for sharing !!
My bubbles might of been a bit too big but my husband loved it and was almost to tears when he saw it. (n_n) He said the bubble size is fine and gives it a feel of depth perception like the bubbles are closer to you which is why they're bigger. You can see the painting on my Facebook page Facebook .com/ MYTCR8TiV
hi dear teacher..i ve lookin for many art works about droplets in youtube..and at last , i think youre show the best guide about this subjects..Thank you so much...i love it so much....
Thank you very much for sharing your gift. I've only just started to explore my talents as an artist and until I stumbled across your videos., pencil was the only medium I felt could help me achieve a sense of realism
I never thought watching an art tutorial would be that interesting...you're one of the very few whose art toturial that's entertaining to watch. but heck this is just my opinion. Keep up with you're passion! ^_^
Hi Lisa, thank you for your art and your tutorials. Love watching you. I tried this out on my painting, in progress, though realized I don't have them the same color as the background but I am still playing around.. I tried to post it here but it isn't working out. But thanks! Very helpful.
Lisa, you bubbles are magic. It looks so easy when you do it, but everything looks easy when you do it. We all appreciate your tutorial videos. Your description is so clear and informative. I agree with 'shedz channel' in that when you add the highlight to the top and bottom, the bubble pops out. I am still a little confused on the shadows under the bubbles on the wall. Is this that the bubbles are just a small space away from the wall? I am a little confused at the shadow going to the point. As I keep watching it over, I will begin to understand. This is great and we all appreciate your time and effort in helping us. Thanks
Loved watching your bubble techniques but would love to see it in coloured pencils or pastel pencils please? I am trying to figure out how to have something coming up out of water with a splash and a few bubbles. Have you already done something like that yet?
in the beginning they just looked like convex holes in the background to me, right up until you put the shadows in, and then POP...out pops the bubbles! nice job lisa!
Excellent work. God has blessed you with an amazing gift. I couldn't find the link you mentioned where you get inexpensive canvas prints to practice on.
I've gotten them at Wal-Mart too, for practice. If you have a Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby near by, they will definitely have them! Hobby Lobby especially...they will have everything you need!
You have made this tutorial so much easier to follow than others. Thank you. Now I will have another go at water droplets as I was on the verge of giving up. I have been able to do them, but not very realistic. Other videos have been long and complicated; yours not so.
Lisa, another question popped up when watching this video again. If you were to paint a clear or transparent marble or glass sphere would you use the same techniques as the water bubbles, but use the shadow techniques like you used on the bubbles on the flat surface as was done during t the last of the demonstration on bubbles. Would you refract some of the background pattern image if the sphere was in front of a background other than a plane background? Just looking for other possibilities using this bubble technique.
You can always refract some of the background into the shadow or in front of bubbles or marbles and other glass. This was a very basic and fast type of bubble, but you can always go much more advanced (that will be another tutorial in the future) by reflecting more detail. Even the shine on the bubbles can be done in a way that reflects its surroundings.
+Lachri Fine Art, your leaves weren't terrible at all in my eyes! Thank you for this awesome tutorial on bubbles. I'm new at painting and started painting my canvas with oils...it turned out to be a mess, so I just blended it all together. Lol! Now I have a new idea with bubbles, so I hope it works out. Thank you ;-)
Robyn Newberry Good luck! With oils, remember sometimes you need to let the paint dry before you work into your next layer, or you can easily create a muddy mess :)
+Aqlimiyah Williams it does matter very much, the silhouette of the real waterdrop takes on the color of the background, try and look at some images of real water, youll realize it.If you paint it black and white, it wont be realistic.
Excellent video, do you plan on doing water droplets with Polychromos pencils? I'm having a hard time of thinking how to do droplets of water on rose petals atm :P
I have seen many tutorials but this by far has been the easiest to understand, thank you so much!
Yay! It makes me so happy when people understand what I'm talking about =D
I totally agree .very easy to understand
Totally agree 👍😊
It's the most clear and easy tutorial on the topic ❤️

This was very helpful. Never seen someone drawing a water drop that nice AND easy - great!
I’ve only been painting for the last year or so, making mixed media canvases currently working on a sea horse and this is the first tutorial that’s made sense and shown what I needed without having to watch half an hour or more of pointless chat so thank you !
This lesson totally blows me and my work away... thank you for passing on your talent and skills!
Awesome demonstration! I like the way you were very detailed about the products you used and the "why" behind each of the paint strokes. Paintings so simple yet with lots of depth. I love it! Thanks for the tutorial.
Those leaves are great! The fact they were painted quickly speaks to your skill.
Lovely bubbles and water droplets. You make the technique look so simple. Enjoyed listening to the lovely violin music in the background, very calming. Would have been nice to have that music with me on my recent time in hospital, at least I'm out now. God Bless and keep up the great videos.

Its something I do on surreal paintings. It isn't something you would ever see in real life as bubbles don't tend to hover in front of walls :D
Lachri Fine Art I have noticed this on your previous surreal work. Thank you for your reply. :)
Can you make a tutorial on how to paint (draw)glass objects such as a glass bottle both with and without water inside?
+jieyi liang Good idea :)
Fascinating! Thank you!
I just used this technique in my AP art class, and I got the highest grade! Thanks for this tutorial!

Loved watching your bubble techniques but would love to see it in coloured pencils or pastel pencils please? I am trying to figure out how to have something coming up out of water with a splash and a few bubbles. Have you already done something like that yet?

Excellent work. God has blessed you with an amazing gift. I couldn't find the link you mentioned where you get inexpensive canvas prints to practice on.
Jon Pounds You can get them at dickblick.com :)
I've gotten them at Wal-Mart too, for practice. If you have a Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby near by, they will definitely have them! Hobby Lobby especially...they will have everything you need!

Glad I could help :D
Wow this has helped me so much but, I just want to know how exactly would you draw the water droplet if your light was directly centred
great demonstration!! love all the examples thank you!!
Magnifiquement réel ! Merci pour vos explications, je vais essayer ...

Lachri Fine Art Thank you, we appreciate the explanation and look forward to any future tutorials. Thanks. :)
Gracias, por compartirnos tus conocimientos me encanta aprender diferentes tecnicas !!

Robyn Newberry Good luck! With oils, remember sometimes you need to let the paint dry before you work into your next layer, or you can easily create a muddy mess :)
Very cool! Can I make different colored bubbles simply by switching the black to the color I want the bubbles to be?
Allison Heffernan absolutely!
Not a painter... But I still did it!!!
Kali Stanton YAY!
Im new at painting and I want to say this really inspires me to try it and your channel makes me anxious to paint more and more :O

well explained multiple examples this helped me alot thank you
Thank you so much for this video! Does it matter what color the background is? Just use back and white paint?
+Aqlimiyah Williams it does matter very much, the silhouette of the real waterdrop takes on the color of the background, try and look at some images of real water, youll realize it.If you paint it black and white, it wont be realistic.
+vera prokić Thank you so much.
+Aqlimiyah Williams youre welcome :D!!
Thank you for help and helping other people
Excellent video, do you plan on doing water droplets with Polychromos pencils? I'm having a hard time of thinking how to do droplets of water on rose petals atm :P
