    Hi…the video about the 2007 VW Jetta Fuel problem saved me a lot tof time and money. Went directly to my 2006 VW Jetta and pulled the instrumentation cluster and checked to see if the circuit trace you noted as being burned, was also burnt on my car circuit. It was! Had a wire soldered across the trace and voila! it worked. The gas gauge worked and so did the ambient temperature gauge and the “Air Conditioning System! The VW engineers decided to link the ambient air temperature reading to the “cooling” side of the A/C. Heater works great when the temperature is -40 deg. F. but who need the cooling side of the A/C when the temperature is that low. Living in San Diego, California (USA) the temperature rarely gets to 40 deg. F. So along with the functioning gauges, the cool air is nice. Thanks again.

Temp gauge went first started reading low due already having low fuel didn't see much there but also it blew 15 amp fuel pump fuse die at light this is after 15 min of no outside temp. Replace fuse it started. No fuel gauge because i thought it was out of gas. 5 gallon no movement. So now @LMautorepair i will take an pull cluster thanks for video. Where exactly is this fuse situated in a B7? I have a similar problem. Please anyone

    Hi mate I recently I fitted a diesel cab heater to my T5 and accidentally drilled through a wire loom causing all sorts of problems all of which I have been able to repair except the fuel gauge now doesn't work and the fan on the radiator continuously runs there is 2 faults showing 1 for short to positive on the fuel gauge and the other is short to positive on the outside air temperature sensor? I replaced the outside air temperature sensor as it was inexpensive however as I guessed it didn't resolve that fault. So now having seen this excellent video I think I may have blown a fuse on the dash in my van I would appreciate your opinion cheers and thanks for a great video

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  4 года назад +1

      Possibly... I am not sure the T5 has the same circuit in the cluster... but might worth check...
      That said, make sure you check all the fuses etc... if you haven't already...

    I'm going to give this a go after my local garage just quoted me £600+ to fix. What gauge fuse wire do you recommend? And is the pcb reasonably easy to remove.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  3 года назад +1

      Yes... the cluster is not that difficult to open...
      I just used a thin coper wire... not sure what gauge... but I would say a 2 or 3 amp wire...

    It blew cos your sending unit was stuck cos of all the sand ..built up heat and blew the board...or someone was working on that plug while power was on and shorted those pins then it blew. the design is just fine.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  3 года назад +1

      I agree to disagree...
      A fuse inside a module?
      So, anything on that circuit that would make the fuse to blew, means replace the cluster....
      How difficult would have been to design it to have a fuse in the fuse panel on the side of the dash?
      Jut my opinion...
      Yes, I think someone has shorted the wires...
      The probe stuck wouldn't make the fuse to blow, but instead the gauge to just no move...

    I do appreciate that great vid. Actually I have quite the same issue with my Golf VI 2012 but in my case the fuel needle sops just above the 1/2 off the reserve even it is 100% full. After changing fuel pump completely the the diagnostic result shows the both B103E1B (Intermittent) and B10581B (Static) code errors of fuel gauge sensors 1 and 2 with 'resistance too high''' comment. Any help or advise please

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  5 лет назад +1

      Resistance too high can also mean a wiring problem... like an O.L...

      Hi
      O.L = Open Line... means a broke wire or interrupted circuit.
      As for the diagrams, you need to ask Mr. Google...
      You have not given enough details for me to look for it...
      But, on the 1.4 16v TSI is as follows:
      Sensor 1
      Pin 2 》cluster pin 20
      Pin 3 》cluster pin 1
      Pin 4 》cluster pin 2
      Sensor 2
      Pin 1 》cluster pin 20
      Pin 2 》cluster pin 3
      Pin 3 》cluster pin 4
      Most likely the above is the same for most variants, but cant guarantee...
      Hope that helps...
