    Is anyone watching this in 2019? Mr. Scott Brueckner is still changing the study-life (and not only) of people. His teachings reached people all over the globe, not only locally. Thank you for sharing, LongBeachCityCollege. Thank you for your comprehensive, humorous, genius, and generous teachings, Mr. Scott.

      I am. I'm struggling to keep a self study self created program going. Looking for simple, but implementable ideas that I will actually be able to use. So far, this looks good. Many I come across are technically proficient and actually very well thought out, but they just seem to be too detailed and too complicated for me. In the past, I have always found that, for me, start as simply as possible and then improve as I go along. Glad you just helped me remind myself of that. Thank you....

      Good on you, however do your research, it isn't effective to study so much you need to have a life too. Its impressive but more hours isn't always better, I am also preparing to study for being a GP, however I understand I must leave some spare time for myself for my mental wellbeing. Wish you all the best!

    i am 28 year old and started college life 4 years ago , and ever since then i have worked on/off and had a crazy schedule sometimes 80 hours a week, which only meant cramming sessions on the last 1-2 weeks before finals and getting at most b or a, and mostly D's or c's which is a miracle!
    i loved how you touched on this matter, and helped me better plan for the future studying, honestly i thank whoever recorded this and the man responsible i saw his name in the comment Dr scott, All respect.

    I dropped out from this college because I was always distracted by high school friends who wanted to get into something or got distracted by social media and my phone, period. Since then, I've learned a thing or two: cut out distractions, eat well, sleep well, get rid of your degenerate friends and family, like literally block their numbers, make your phone unaccessible and put it on airplane mode, stop the video games, try intermittent fasting, go minimalistic. Set your plan in place before you enter college otherwise you'll probably fail a course or end up dropping out. Thats what happened to me. Now, I feel unstoppable, distraction-free, I got my health in check, my sleep in check, and I'm ready to get back to it.

    When I went through WGU to get my BS in IT, I think the most credits I took was 22 in one semester while working full time and rehabbing my house. Luckily, I'd been working in IT for 30 years, so all the IT classes took me, on average, about a week to complete. It took me 3 years to complete a 5-year degree program. Every time I came out of my office my wife would look at me weirdly and ask, "Who are you again?" LOL

      +Zsófia Tóth Secondary school= high school. In high school students also have around 35 hours of school per week. But in college and university, the number of hours with a teacher is usually much lower, but you have to spend much more time studying on your own.

I believe that most people aren't as busy as they think they are. With class, studying, extracurricular, work, and relationship my number comes out to 166 hours. Just class, studying, and work is 75 hours, but able to get straight A's. Your time is valuable, make the most of it.

    We have a different way of counting what you call units, it is called points, and we take it 60 per year (two semesters). Next semester I have a total of 35 units, and 29hours of classes. According to the "rule", I should be studying or 58 hours a week. Adding those 12 hours a day from the start, its total of 171 hours a week. And a week has only 168 hours. That tells me that there is something really wrong with our school system O.o

    I don't know from where you are exactly, but here in Belgium we work with study points. Each year you take about 60 study points. Each course has a specific number. For example: History of Theatre is 3 study points and I have it 2 hours a week. For me, it worked out easier by using just the hours of class I have per week rather than how many study points I have.

    Hi, firstly just to say thanks for your videos they are extremely useful. Secondly, i am a student at a uni in the United Kingdom and we work with credits rather than units. I take 4 classes/modules, each of which is worth 15 credits and so that brings me up to 60 credits in total. I guess what i would like to understand is how many hours i am to dedicate to each of the classes (outside of it of course). help would be hugely appreciated,
    thanks all

      I am studying also in UK =), for what I understand is that in our case, we have lecture + Seminars that is 2 hours x day, 2 so in total will be 8 hours x week, so 8x2= 16 hours, so we should study about 3.3 hours a day. IF you have any other explanation I would be happy to know it =)=)=)

      You could look at ECTS credits, each US credit is worth about two ECTS, so basically how many ECTS credits your class is worth, you should study that class a week. (Sounds like your 60 credits are worth 30ECTS)
      Another trick is to say for each hour of lecture, you have to study two hours.

    Going to do this for future people that watches the video as his lecture is confusing as it is missing life functions discussed earlier in the presentation. To get a picture of work load for taking classes and other responsibilities.
    24 hr per day X 7 = 168 of total hours
    sleep=7 hr
    Hygiene= 2 hr
    Eating (cooking/cleaning) 2 hr
    Travel= 1 hr (include work & classes from home & between classrooms)
    Errands(BS u need like games, movies, porn, social life, etc.)= 8 hrs
    Total= 20 hr per day X 7 (week) = 140 hrs for "life functions"
    Work sep category full or part(ex. part time) for week= 15 hr
    School cred hrs full time= 12 X 3= 36 hrs per week of studying
    140+15+36=191 hr per week aka impossible
    From there cut time in areas that isn't necessary for success in one of the 3 categories ex. Choose Errands= 8 hr per day - 3 hours of vid game - 1 hr porn - 2 hr @ bar = 6 hr X 7 day per week =42 hrs free >>>168-42=149 hr used in week. Life must be sep from work as most ppl's bull shit excuse of not enough time comes from fat in their life part. You can cut more time like no shower use axe and orbitz gum for dental and etc to 1 hr per day. Round to hours unless want extra math to use minutes.
    1. Buy or steal agenda
    2. critical self eval of time usage
    3. org time per day and stick to schedule
    4. ????????
    5. profit

    Your lessons , these workshops are truly world class and deserve so much to be appreciated and acknowledged!!! People especially students may not realize the value of these topics, such as time management, study hacks, how to take notes, because we all think that's not something worth spending time on, but actually they are very imp in building the basic foundational roots for studying, Thank you for being a great teacher and adding so much value for free,, Power to you

    4 hours of traveling each day. 2 hours to school then another 2 home... I sleep maybe 4-5 hours, I spend roughly 1.5 hours eating, about an hour running errands, and about an hour on hygiene. Sigh
