Hey guys! Just a note that the Tiguan wasn't in the 'Travel Assist' mode during the lane departure testing. We're going to try and do this test again next time we have a Tiguan in to repeat it all.
Do one video explaining Transmission types (Dual Clutch, CVT, Torque converter etc) also discuss it's advantages/disadvantages. Big Fan. Keep posting. Love your work.
Generally:
DCT: Better efficiency but not as compact + depends on manufacturer on smoothness
CVT: Most smooth and compact but less efficient (debateable)
Torque converter: More efficient than CVT(debateable), more smoother than most DCTs
@@Seafury18 uhm isnt the whole point of CVTs is efficiency? Why is that debatable?
All you need to know is that dual clutch transmissions are nice at first but will not be as reliable as a conventional auto transmission a few years down the track. Rebuilding them costs a bomb.
@@kylosolo6128 CVTs are more efficient in general but are often installed in underpowered engines and usually rev at their peak power/torque band even under light load. Hence less fuel economy.
Unless you have a 4AT, an automatic transmission or even manual transmission will probably be more efficient at the long run
@@WildDanHibiki also can be uncomfortable if in inner city stop start is the main driving
Thanks for the review Paul and Team! All those errors brought an ironic smile to my face. It was the mysery of owning my mk7 Golf R - the damn thing constantly had alarms and warnings. Never felt it would get from 1 service through to another, without experiencing an issue.
Another wicked review, thank you!
Paul that gearbox calibration issue was just because you had the adaptive dampening set to comfort. On the dash it has the comfort road symbol. When my R Line is in comfort everything is so much more smoother but yes you have much less go from the engine unless you put your foot down. When you change it to sports mode you touch the accelerator and it jolts off like you are foot flat 😅
Good feedback, you should do an owner review for the CarExpert website
Paul is very tough but not on himself
Always great videos Pavao, will you be doing a review on the VW T-roc R?
Simple look of the car works for me.
Thanks for the review.
Hey mate! I’m surprised !!!!!!!! Those errors on the car screen with acc, tyre pressure, front sssit, exactly what has happened to my brand new Kona N. Suddenly all the safety systems failed and the car was moving at 10kmph. It is now sitting in the dealers garage here in Brisbane (Northside Hyundai).
it looks good this car also vw's third bestselling suv in malaysia and they are everywhere
I am a fan of your reviews, I think one thing worth commenting on in your reviews is wait times to order the car.
Nice. When are you doing a GWM Jolion Hybrid Review
Please do one for a Palisade 2023 elite. Thanks in advance.
Thanks Paul, great video. Those alarms were weird, I have an MK2 Tiguan and nothing like this ever happened to me. I think VW is telling a BS and it was caused by the semiconductor shortage, I.e. something is missing from the car. Quick question: does it come with a boot cover?
The Car Looks Cool!
hey paul , will you be testing the new audi rs3 anytime soon
Does anyone know if the Allspace TSI162 Elegance has launch control? The dealer told me that the Elegance models doesn't have launch control but Paul used it in his demo with this 147TDI Elegance model.
I hate that they got rid of the foglights in the facelifted models as well as the Volume knob in the top tier models
Allspace Adventure please, that should be much more interesting than any other trim.
Hey Paul; as always great review -question on Blind spot monitoring being offered. I’m looking at buying a seven seater but Volkswagen reps flat out say no blind spot monitoring. Not even optional or on the R trim. It’s only on existing stock; if delivery next year, no BS monitoring
That's due to semiconductor shortages that's currently plaguing the market. Apparently they have reduced the prices of all their variants by a small amount as well, in order to accommodate the lack of features.
We bought recently TDI with all options allapace and we Love it. Just done 2700KM trip to Victoria, got 5.7L fuel average. Very comfortable ride. Had 2020 R line allspace before that we changed it to TDI. Love our new Tiguan.
Why did you go for the TDI?
@@dragospahontu If you drive your car on the highway for more than 20 minutes each trip, you should go for diesel, in theory. However, since many Australians do not satisfy that (sometimes due to traffic congestion which slows down the average speed), the diesel engine's efficiency is being covered.
@@acde9355 yes but the ea888 gen 3 with budak cycle is so efficient. It is basically a TDI that runs on petrol.
The only advantage of TDI is that the fuel consumption isn't high when you drive at 160-200km/h.
@@acde9355 you know what I mean
Sorry didn’t see the message earlier. Changed to TDI just for fuel average. Didn’t want to go for electric as yet. I think I’ll wait few more years before switch to electric. We r still loving our Tiguan TDI it’s a great car, roomy, comfortable, elegant looking.
Do you think you can test the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack?
What about the 2023 Hyundai Palisade Review?
I’m a great fan of Car Expert & love your reviews!!
I own its direct cousin Seat Tarraco which is practically the same car, except mine is a 1.4 litre 6 speed DSG, is on 20” wheels and has 2 tonne towing. About $10k less Hamilton New Zealand
Can you be able to take it off road?
Please do the adventure when you can get your hands on one only you can help me decide whether to buy 1 or not
They do offer the Tiguan R 320hp but unfortunately not in all markets at least you get an actual transmission with real gears no cvt period, good review nonetheless 💯
Is there any Manuel model available
Love my new Tiggy Allspace but R-Line all the way!
smaller adults fit fine in the 3rd row. I'm 5'5 and can fit well, I would be quite uncomfortable in anything after 1 hour though. My wife is shorter at 5'2 and has no complaints. She feels she could stay back there for hours.
Can you please review the lexus LX
If that's a MY23 Tiguan then it would make me believe that VW is actually under the Skoda group in which, their Kodiaq is offering the same tech from her Edition trim years ago.
is this not the petrol?? didn’t think they came 162 in disel
Why haven’t you mentioned Skoda kodaiq is the perfect competitor for this all space ? Strange !!! A😊
Those were all the same error messages I get all the time (every time I drive the car) on my mk8 Golf GTI.....
Yea they should have the option for full Tiguan R Allspace
We just bought a 162TSI Allspace R Line, and can't agree more that out of all the 7 seaters in this price range you can't go past the Tiguan even though its a bit long in the tooth, it still feels and looks classy, sporty to drive with the 162 TSI doing 0-100 in 6.5s thanks to the dsg gearbox and great 2litre turbo. EOFY deals now mean even better value 👌
What other cars have you tested? What swayed you to VW.
Thats not a coffee cup its a coffee thimble, harden up, ;) I have Skoda Superb Scout for similar mney and I would rather have that than VW shown
The question is do you go for the Tiguan allspace or the Skoda Kodiaq? Much of a muchness is it not?
Škoda is bigger, Volkswagen is stiffer
I ordered the skoda and cancelled for this car, best decision ever.
I had a 2018 Tiguan allspace 132kw . I had issues with errors coming up too often and they would go away after switching off the car. It would lose power. .traded it in for 2021 Tiguan.
With all those issues, you bought another of the same?
@@zaamuro8408 No evidence to prove that the same issues will happen again.
Some energy you possess
Stole the torch idea off the Skoda Kodiaq I see haha. But all in all, you really can see how the Kodiaq and the Tiguan Allspace are based off one another.
Can you review the Honda CRV 7 seater please?
Not a popular brand in Australia anymore
this or skoda kodiaq??
Very thorough Build quality test you did.
1 - Centre Console Cover check.
2- Squeeze along top of dashboard check
3 - Wriggle front console left and right side check.
Yes. Great quality that.
Thanks champion!
Is it in the same group as the skoda kodiaq?
Yes, all part of the Volkswagen Group
I think he meant same class
Those havac slides are not go when driving
I want this one. Is this brand reliable though? Any experience?
Volkswagen usually isn't, unless the Tiguan is more reliable than their other cars. Owner's reviews should help you.
The fact is that Volkswagen's cars are reliable within the first 100,000 km if you maintain it very well and you are lucky enough to avoid factory mistakes. If you are buying a used Volkswagen car, the driving experience is much more related to the maintenance record of the previous owner.
YES, TDI!
Drop the DCT and put a tourque converter auto in i would buy a Tiguan.
Normally the First time you get those error when you driving. Which means it's a real VW car.
really sad they remove the fordable tray.
Can you at least answer the question in the video description? “Best 7 seat medium SUV?” Yes or no
So why isn't the Kodiaq a competitor?
Exactly, and the Kodiaq, or the Skodiaq as I like to call it, is arguably the better car.
Both cars are under the Volkswagen Group umbrella, and both were developed on the MQB A2 platform, perhaps he thought it too similar to the Tiguan to mention it.
Who said it wasn’t a competitor?
Same company, doesn’t matter which you buy, VW cashes in
We went with a Skoda Kodiaq, same features but a better price.
Are you sure ?
When did u buy / take delivery of your Kodiaq ?
This is the recently arrived facelifted Tiguan Allspace
Skoda very recently released facelifted Kodiaq in Australia
Kodiaq Style model is
$ 53 k On road
But needs the Tech & Luxury Pack to have same spec as this Tiguan Elegance model.
The Kodiaq Style would then be about $ 64 k on road, with metallic paint.
Kodiaq Style & Sportsline only have a 132 kw / 320 nm petrol motor.
This Tiguan is 147 tdi diesel motor, which is
$ 57,190 plus On road costs.
It’s on road price would be slightly less then a new Kodiaq Style with the option packs needed to give it similar spec, to this Tiguan Elegance.
And, a Tiguan Elegance is cheaper if u choose the petrol motor.
U save $ 1,500 and get a 162 tsi petrol motor
162 kw / 350 nm
A Tiguan with the same 132 kw / 320 nm petrol motor ( which is same petrol motor that’s in the Style / Sportsline Kodiaq ) is under $ 50 k. Plus options and on road costs.
You aren’t comparing apples to apples..
Your Kodiaq might have a lot of stuff, but, it has a less powerful motor, compared to a cheaper Tiguan 162tsi Elegance ?
And, in Elegance spec, the Tiguan has similar features to the optioned up Kodiaq Style model…
Kodiaq is great car
But
Now Petrol only
Only 320 nm, in the Style or Sportsline models, or 370 nm in the RS model.
At least with this model Tiguan, u can get diesel
Much better economy in all situations
And with 400 nm of torque, it’s got grunt, particularly when loaded up with passengers etc
Don't accept vw's reason for the codes. Driving on a slight angle shouldn't ruin the experience, which that must certainly did. I'd want something a fair bit more reliable for that money, personally.
Paul, Tiguan is definitely nice. And I AM NOT BUYING THIS FOR THIS MONEY.
How can you comment on the front styling but not mention the ghastly oversized number plate bracket. It looks ridiculous.
Can you launch control a reverse speed test? 😂
Good question!
These 7-seaters today are not 7-seaters by any means. I don't know how they pass the health and safety regulations as a 7-seater car. I don't wish any child to be in the third row in case of an accident.
The warning lights are not a good thing too. That failure needs to be addressed in case a recall is required. Again, safety first.
Diesel is dying faster than petrol, but appreciate the driver's digital screen. Nice car that will age gracefully.
A car for people so obsessed with 'image' that they would rater make two of their passengers suffer in that tiny back row than grow up and buy a proper people mover. It's definitely not about saving money...
Nobody is buying this as a serious seven seater. I’ve recently ordered one for the extra boot space. Given you’ve got no chance of getting a standard Tiguan any time soon and the price difference was almost nothing it was a no brainer.
Hardly a image car, 😮
@@daweigo6851 image car for the lower middle class
Not a VW video without a couple of error messages
VW needs to hire a new lead designer there car design is getting old in the tooth.
ill take mazda cx-5 with turbo anyday
Premium reliability n driving dynamic on a budget and its made in japan
Except your boot is 1/3 the size?
@@mmountain1233 get cx-60 coming out soon lol or cx-8 or 9
Old boring interior.. I have 2017 r line btw
Nor worth 60 k prefer to get a skoda or kia mayne..maybe. we are searching for good 7 dester
So you don’t think someone buying an Allspace will cross shop it with the more popular Kodiaq? That would annoy your (oops sorry) the bosses at VW. So much for being an on the ball car reviewer. Just another also ran in the crowd.
Sure, you could cross shop it with whatever you want. I just called out three competitors. But you could buy the less popular one (the Kodiaq)…or anything for that matter. Your comments doesn’t really make much sense.
