    Nice that you mention the great Bob Church. His enthusiasm for fly and coarse fishing was legendary.

    Aside from the gudgeon it looks and reminds me so much of my favourite stretch of the Forth and Clyde just outside Glasgow. Ah, memories! Great stuff mate!!

      Used to fish the same area with a Graeme Aitken, almost 40 years ago. Memories indeed.

      Just saw your message from a year ago. Yeah whoever you are, that's me. Hard fishing at times but interesting. I'm sure you can see the resemblance in Bill's canal.

    Great video Bill, I've just trimmed my whip tips after following your video and have ordered the stonfo connectors to replace them, looking forward to some whip fishing on our local club waters, tight lines :)

    Once again, loved the video. I love how your emphasis is on the true spirit of pleasure fishing and not trying to catch a fish every 6 seconds which, although impressive to watch, is really unnecessary for pleasure fishing. Fantastic.

      Neil Taylor . Hi thanks for the nice comment. I am trying to teach anglers how to catch more fish and trying to keep the sheer pleasure of fishing regardless of the size of the fish. Tight Lones

    Another great video. I really like watching you fish the canals and seeing them still in use. I loved your comment that fishing isn't about the size of the fish as much as the enjoyment of catching fish. From the States, thanks for sharing.

    I use whips(we just call them cane pole over here)as live bait rigs to keep me supplied with bait fish for my bass fishing 👍👍

    Ive been fishing most of my 50 yrs but used rod and reel.
    I want to slow down a bit and bought one of these type whips as I purchased a rod and reel for one of my boys, or as its called in the states a cane pole for perch, bluegill, crappie. I'm not much of a sportsfishing type. Thanks for showing the basics, you earned my sub.

      OKBushcraft. Hi I’m glad to have helped. I started with a garden cane from the garden, a matchstick for a float and a hook ‘borrowed ‘ from my brother and this is just a more modern take on that. Tight Lines

      carpcoarse1 Hi I did show the rig in part 1. Just to repeat, the rig came with the whip. Mainline was a bit heavy at about 0.20, about 5 lbs. I had to add three no 10 stotz to shot it correctly and changed the hooklength to a ready tied Drennan size 20 silverfish maggot hook. Bill

    eyup bill, how do you decide what peg/where you are going to fish on the canal?

    • @easyfishing1936
      @easyfishing1936  7 лет назад +3

      BUSHCRAPPING . Hi well local knowledge is the most important but if you don’t know the Canal look for features. Moored boats if they have been moored up for awhile. Bridges, boat turning bays, bank side cover ie bushes overhanging trees. If they are on the far bank you will need to fish the waggler, light lead or the long pole. The best spots are where people feed ducks etc regularly fish are always in the area,feed liquidised bread with Punch on the hook. The outside of bends with deeper water are worth a look. Remember in summer the fish spread out and in winter they shoal up tight in certain areas. In the winter look for duck feeders throwing in bread always a hotspot.

    Isn't it dangerous fishing by yourself in England nowadays, especially in Luton? You see all the horror stories on U tube with Muslims and stuff.

      Andy Metternich. Hi well I lived and fished in London for a number of years and to be honest I didn’t night fish on my own and having lived and worked in Luton for a number of years I can’t say it’s worse than any other town or city in the UK. Don’t believe all you see and hear about Luton, it has some really nice areas and others that are not so good. The same as anywhere else in the world. Tight Lines

      Thanks boss. I love the scenery in England. Does anyone eat the fish or is it purely C&R?

    • @easyfishing1936
      @easyfishing1936  6 лет назад +1

      Andy Metternich. Well we have strict laws about keeping fish. Mostly you are only allowed to keep up to 6 or 8 fish, small ones, as bait only. You are not allowed to remove fish. Anyway most coarse fish are pretty rank to eat! Obviously we eat sea fish but have strict size limits. Trout fisheries are ‘put n take’ or c+r. A bit different to your country I imagine! Tight
