Hi well I hope everyone enjoyed this video. The best fish might have weighed about 12ozs but I caught continuously. A bigger 10mm punch caught a better stamp and the heavy sticky feed lasted well. This technique will work well on most rivers so get a whip and some bread punches and give it a go A very cheap and effective method Bill
Great video, I remember taking my daughter fishing when she was about eight , set her up with a whip and half a pint of maggots and she caught like a champ all day, happy times :)
Alright Bill you need to get your haircut won't be long before you can have a ponytail great video again stay well my friend you have kept my going during this lock down

Bill you had a good session some nice fishing with a good few fish, whip fishing is a great way of catching nice to see you out ,i see you have the lock down hairdo a bit wild ,well nice video thanks bill and tight lines ,,
Nice productive session there Bill, I recently purchased the middy baggin' whip I think its called, I am going to put it through its paces tomorrow using bread punch for bait at the local farm ponds. There are small carp around the 1lb mark which on a whip is good sport plus some small tench and some really stunning rudd. Thanks for posting as always.
Any young lad wanting to know how to go and have a few hours of fun catching roach should watch this it's not rocket science and as you say bill you don't have to spend a fortune . Great bit of video. 👍
Its almost back to school days for me and the whip buddy. I love the 3 meter on commercials for silvers and the 4.5 6.5 on the Trent, no reel, little bait but fun fishing, easy fishing?
Been fishing the Embankment since the start of the season a bit further down to where the disabled bay is, been catching great bags of Roach on aldi sweet corn lol such a great cost effective way to a great days fishing and only yesterday had my PB Roach well over a pound. My dad and I have also been catching Bream down there up to 6lb. We would both really like to get on the Tincas on the waggler and pole but can’t seem to find them as of yet. We do our feeder fishing past the town bridge where the new complex of bars and restraunts are and target the big Bream shoal in the deeper water, I had 5 yesterday on a short morning session on the corn again.Hope to see you down the bank sometime and tight lines!
Another superb day on the river Bill. Back in the good old seventies, I used to punch the bread out (Mothers pride) with an old lipstick tube, sure you remember those days mate! A bit do and mend but it did not stop the fish biting, some great hauls of crucian carp on a hot summers evening at a local old monastery lake, the carp are still there but not the monks. Used to do what they called "the flat float method" a small quill about one and a half inches long with one dust shot about one and a quarter inches from the hook length of ten inches, eight ounce bottom, when the float quivered and then stood up, STRIKE. Sorry that sounds a bit like my childhood hero, Mr Crabtree (goes fishing), LOL still got the book somewhere, love it still, think it was the Daily mirror book? Crucian carp, fighters of the commando squadron every one of them for their size, a full keep net by the time dark took over the dusk, it was allowed back then to fill your keepnet of course, happy days. Don't forget to do a video on the little backwaters you sussed out during the heavy lock down days mate. Keep well and keep on doing it, all the best from Ossett mate, your the best! Chris, your mate from West Yorkshire.
Hi I started out using sections of car aerial with a slot hacksawed in them and a cork to make them float for when I dropped them in the water, a frequent occurrence!! I love crucian carp fishing but pure crucians are hard to find these days Bill
Hi well I just love the simplicity the only problem I have is when bigger fish move in as the whip struggles to play them. The short pole with an appropriate elastic is much better and is much more accurate. BILL
And timing it right not easy from small stuff to the big boys but usually u get a few knocks to say mmmmm bigger stuff but I have lost lots of big stuff like u also the smaller stuff drop off so I change to pole with elastic and try bigger baits and larger particle groundbait but it fishing u never know all ways different everyday stay safe bud

So refreshing to see this method of angling just bought my boys a whip pole each that's all they want to do after watching ur vids bill big thumbs up from us tight lines ....
People who canoe are IGNORANT. They never give anglers any room and think it's there god damn right to go through your swim. 90% of boaters give you a wide birth unless of oncoming traffic. A very nice relaxing evening session for you. Still not wet my nets yet but this coming Wednesday will be a 3am get up to hopefully bag up on the canal. Stay safe and tight lines to all.
Thanks Bill. Nice to see you looking well and catching very well. A quick question, would you consider hemp seed as groundbait and a real or imitation hemp seed as hook bait in similar conditions?
Hi well hemp can be very good and it works at anytime of year but best in warmer weather. I find tares on the hook produce a better stamp of fish and even real old school elderberry works well sometimes. You must keep the feed, very small amounts, going in very regularly and it can take a couple of hours to turn on but when it does!! Try mixing some in with bread feed and it will not do any harm! Bill
Lovely session Bill, 💕could watch you all day and I always learn a tip or two from them. Glad to see your Leeda. Have a 3m and 4 m at the mo not sure I am getting the technical side right yet ... weight of line etc but will try your bread technic. Thanks a lot Bill, keep the videos coming I look forward to my notifications
Hi well for silver fish keep the mainline thin no more than 0.15mm or 3 lbs bs and a fine hook length and make sure the total rig length is about a foot shorter than the whip! You can overhead cast and make some noise or underhand swing the rig into position both work Beware of slapping if bleak are around as they are attracted by noise. Have fun experimenting Bill
Easy Fishing well Bill tried the overhead ! No ! ended up in a right tangle... swing out works best for me with a line slightly shorter in length of the whip. Just purchased a carp speed whip 8m ... Middy again... light as a feather ... going to try your bread method with that. Keep the videos coming ... tl
Great great session Bill what a great video plenty of roach and some good quality roach too. Heavy bowl of feed worked well for you. You really make it look easy! What is the biggest roach you have ever caught ? Keep em coming tight lines to ya !!
Hi thank you, catching fish is easy when you find them, and use the right method and bait, same as any fishing. Best fish is around 2 1/2 lbs but the record is over 4 lbs! Bill
Hi Bill. Great video. As a novice, I've been fishing with a whip and short pole for several months now and all has gone well with that. For the last few weeks I've been waggler fishing on my uncle's match rod. I'm enjoying this, but with fishing further out, I'm finding that I'm losing about 25% when I strike. Can you think of anything I'm doing obviously wrong or is it just a case of getting my technique right?
Jonathan Branson try to keep the line tight between the rod and your float. The other thing is make sure your hook point is not buried in your bait. I hope this helps Jonathan.
Jonathan if your using barbless hooks keep your line tight also make sure your line is sunk under the surface from tip to float this helps keep the waggler stable,if you go to RUclips type this in HOW TO SINK YOUR LINE WHEN FLOAT FISHING,hope this helps Jonathan, para
Well I recently bought a Guru version but found the punches lacked a slot when I went to use it!! The guru punches are fine for hair rigging but not for straight hooking. Very expensive but you pay your money and take your choice. A good hard plastic shallow box, with a easy to open lid will do fine if funds are tight. My old Image bread box is a little shallow for today's medium sliced bread, hence the guru version. Just wished I had checked the punches first, my fault but at least my Drennan punches fit nicely in the side compartment. A bread box is essential if you are a bread head Bill
Thanks for that Bill See how we go there might be a used one on eBay. Like you I got some Drennan punches just thought the box would keep bread better especially in hot weather. Must get out this week tomorrow looks ok. Cheers
I Saw your camera. I don't know much about them. What make is it and how much and where to buy. Do the accessories come with it or do you have to buy them separate. Thanks
Hi Ebay or Argos offer them. Price is about £220 for the Sony HDR CX 450 and you have to buy the microphone and remote separately. You can control them with a mobile app as well Bill
