Nice one bill your looking well mate good session there I'm at the river wensun to think this river was fantastic for 4LB + roach once the cormorants from europe moved in in the late 70's early 80's they destroyed this river and many others it's about time we had a kull on these cormorants i carry a very high powered air rifle in my holdall i have shot dead 5 cormorants today and will continue to do so,lovely river the wensun chalk bottom home to some awesome barbel when i came here in the 70's john wilson said back then these cormorants will destroy are waters he was absolutely spot on i shot 121 cormorants last year so far this year 57,para
Hi as a boy I fished both the Wensum and the Waveny but they are a mere shadow of the past. Comorants are a pain in my area but being near the head quarters of the RSPB no one shoots them and i have seen several local waters ruined by them! It's okay to shoot Ruddy ducks tho'!!! What a bunch of hypocrites. Bill
Of all the anglers on youtube bill there is no one touch you ! Explain everything in precise detail! Always watching your videos! Old dog for the hard road!!! Hope your health is ok ! From alan in dublin!!
Thank you again Bill for a good video nice to see you enjoying the weather and your fishing and next time the tench will be waiting for you, take care mate.
Hi bill nice to see Bedford embankment moved north 30 years ago takes me back when I was younger watching big chub downstream at the newham swimming pool like your vids keep it up and stay in good health m8
Love the little one saying hello at the start, I hope you find those Tench eventually. Good point about being careful with tackle when your somewhere busy and public like that.
Great video Bill, your camera work was spot on could even seen all the slime old slabby left on the line some quality Bream there Bill, appreciate how difficult it is to film and fish without a huge camera crew all the best
A good tip to remove bream slime. Hold the line just above the hook and above where the slime ends. Pull the line taught and pluck it like a guitar string. All the slime flies off lovely.
That looks like a great day's fishing. I've been having some first attempts at ledgering this week. Apart from a few tangles when using feeders, it's gone surprisingly well. I've re-watched your older feeder/ledger videos and they suddenly make sense 🙂. In one of them you make the point of ditching hooks after a couple of missed bites. You were spot on there; I think that was a big part of the problem I was having previously with losing fish whilst waggler fishing...not so much poor hooks as blunt hooks. Anyway, another great video that leaves me a bit more knowledgeable 👍.
Some quality fish there Bill despite the elusive Tench but patience is a virtue as they say. You must have enjoyed every minute of the session all the same. Keep on having good days mate and look after yourself and that dicky back, don't forget the backwaters you sussed out during the lock down, keep up the good work, Chris.
The ever elusive Tench. I've not caught one for over 15 years. It's all carp these days and I'm using the same baits I did back then, just the waters have changed. Good reaction there with the boat, I could see that going completely wrong so easily!
Hi normally I manage to catch quite a few tench from this venue but it is tough this year. Try a feeder with a helicopter rig and a very short hooklink and you may find the tench are still there. Watch Dr Paul Garner's video's on catching big tench on the feeder as tench feed differently to carp especially his underwater video's Bill
Even if your loosing fish like you have said before that tackle is for fish from 10lb to high 25lb plus. For me size 12 elastic, 6lb main, 4lb hook length, 14 hook which is good for fish from 5lb to lower doubles, it's caught me fish to 12lb. Bait for Tench would have been sweetcorn and chopped worm over a bed of hemp.
Hi well given the size of fish I'm targeting, double figure tench, bream and huge carp, the amount of snags both natural in the form of lily beds, cabbages and man made rubbish the gear you talk about would be useless. The people who know this venue and comment on the video's and talk to me on the bank will confirm why I use such robust gear. In the winter I use much lighter gear but in summer you just loose fish after fish. This is why I use a heavy solid elastic as even with Drennan 25 there is enough stretch for the fish to get into the snags. Look at the video that I did last summer targeting tench to give you an idea of what I'm up against Bill
Well done there bill great come back from the last session good quality fish this time 👍🎣🇿🇦 wild love to see you get those bream's on a kiddies dock demon combo once again love the video keep it up💯
Cracking video as always Bill, certainly love those expanders didnt they.Cracking Bream and its only a matter of time before you catch a big river Tench..here hoping Stay safe and keep uploading.
Hi Bill, it may be busy but the fishing is certainly good. I have the same problems shipping/landing net on the canals and even though I'm in the countryside I still get walkers and cyclists coming along and it would be tackle suicide to ship anything other than parallel to the bank as I find people seem to have no patients these days. Tight lines.
Hi Andrew, my local canal towpath is treated like a race track and I have to shop parallel to the bank to save my pole from the idiots. Hard work but the only way Bill
Hi Bill, a lovely video as always. Those two Bream had some shoulders on them eh? And those Roach were good quality too, very well done to you, and the camera work was spot on! Take care, and thank you .
Well done Bill nice mixed bag. Talking about Tench I haven’t caught one in two seasons but I’m not giving. Nice video Bill nice location but those rowers say no more ...... tight lines and take care.
I have found May and June the best months for Tinca's, I have had some in July but find August very hard. I have read a few theories that they change feeding habits later in the Summer and maybe start eating Nymphs etc?
Hi I would agree with you. In August I often use casters and maggots on strong small hooks as they seem to work better for me on the places I fish. Bill
Hi Bill, great vid as usual. I think all the tench have come on their hols to Brittany....wife and I have had no end of them lately best was just over 4lb, just to stop you worrying you understand....all the best, Mick and Di.
Nice session, there's so many hook baits on the market ! I'm going to try old fashioned wheat and hemp on the river tomorrow on a feeder ,looks a Good place hampered by rowers
I use seed baits quite a lot and they work very well on the rivers in my area and hold the fish in the swim well. This is a great river with some very big fish to be caught but it is not an easy venue Bill
I tried those banoffee pellets on a commercial near me, i didn't have any luck but it all comes down to what they fancy on the day I suppose. Good pellets as regards durability though. Great video mate👍
Hi bill thank you for another great video. I like the fact the you like fishing more the traditional ways and catching a nice variety of fish. Just a quick question on main like. I used to only use maxima line for years and generally used 3 lb and float and 5 or 6lb for feeder and no more and I'd catch a plenty of good size fish. But now due to limited times I have both feeder and float rods set up. I've used 6lb horizon matrix line on float which is still only 18mm diameter but I've noticed of my line seems to break quite easily. I just store them in a dark garage hanging up. I'm not sure if line can come that brittle in just afew months but I feel like I need change my line yet I've only used them twice. I may just go back to maxima but I know the diameter is quite a bit thicker. Basically what lines do you used for generally feeder and float fishing ?regards martin
Hi well I used to use Maxima and Bayer in the past. For the most part I favour Drennan lines. Supplex or extra tuff for the pole. Supplex, series 7, Method feeder and camo specimen on reels, plus nanoline for long range feeder fishing. I use supplex flurocarbon for hooklengths a lot. Breaking strains depend on the conditions. If I was pushed to recommend one line Series 7 would be it. It's cheap and versatile. Drennan rate their lines by knot strength and diameters are accurate. However many anglers will swear by their own choice of brand and it is down to individual choice! Bill
@@easyfishing1936 thanks bill for you comments and taking time to reply. It is a bit of a mine field. I'm just quite shocked that the horizon matrix 6lb and 8lb line a put on my reels a few months ago has gone brittle as it looks really nice line. 3 out of the 4 reels I spooled up have not even come out of my garage which in very dark with no windows. They are exposed hanging up. So I will be putting on new line soon. The 6lb I used for the first time the other on the float and it snapped so easily its scary!! I going general float fishing more then any other method and I going for the roach, bream and tench but there are carp over 15lb and barbel around 5lb which is why I've used this 6lb line with smaller diameter lines. Perhaps I will go for the series 7. Thanks again bill and looking forward to watching more videos.

Hi bill , i fish the bedford embankment alot and ive caught the odd bream . Do the rowers cause much of a problem with the fishing ? . I find them an absaloute nuisence
I fish the Embankment also, some will say sorry for being close and some just bypass you like your not there. If they could realise that it’s everyone’s river things would be so much better. However if your smart have a little evening session as I find the swims where the rowers row through are better then the ones further near aspects where they don’t go past and with it being evening there not about as much
Hi yes I have and it can be a great roach area in the summer with some bream and tench. I did a whip video from that area and managed a tench on the whip as part of a mixed bag Bill
Seems like everyone is on the Bream down there at the moment but still no Tench as of yet 🙁 I’m tempted to fish close to them Lillies further down with a big worm on in the evening see if I can kid the doctor 😂
Alright bill, set up a go fund me page for a big fishing trip and I’d be the first to chuck you £20 or something , would love to see you on a specimen lake going for something a bit bigger (even though I know that’s not your style )
Hi well I do go for bigger fish and don't film it on a couple of clay pits in my area. Just don't fish long sessions as my health will not allow this Bill

Hi bill nice to see Bedford embankment moved north 30 years ago takes me back when I was younger watching big chub downstream at the newham swimming pool like your vids keep it up and stay in good health m8
There are still some very big chub in there but not many and they seem to be solitary fish Bill
Love the little one saying hello at the start, I hope you find those Tench eventually. Good point about being careful with tackle when your somewhere busy and public like that.
Youre still teaching people bill years after you went up to heaven
Hope youre still catching them fish up in heaven god bless you and youre family
Nice one I enjoy watching your videos. Great one Bill always explained your way of fishing. Great.
I tend to use 10-12 on rivers for this style of fishing. Wonderful video Bill, nice one.
Great video Bill, your camera work was spot on could even seen all the slime old slabby left on the line
some quality Bream there Bill, appreciate how difficult it is to film and fish without a huge camera crew

Hi a lot of people don't realise how difficult it is to fish and film solo. Glad you enjoyed the video Bill
A good tip to remove bream slime. Hold the line just above the hook and above where the slime ends. Pull the line taught and pluck it like a guitar string. All the slime flies off lovely.

some great fish there.. very nicely done! Some good times on the river, that rower was a hundred times as polite as the ones around here..
