I had a 980 when this game came out. 1440p maxed without AA and it was a dream. And you were right the overclocks you could achieve on that architecture was pretty insane. 225mhz on the core and 350mhz on the memory and it was stable as can be. Heat wise not so much but it still maintained mid 70's with a blower style cooler. I miss that card.

Got this card 4 days ago for 42 bucks including shipping as used card^^ (Palit Super-Jetstream)
Its way more powerfull then my GTX 970 oc .. the 970 had 180-200 watts power draw and the 980ti is currently at 240-275 watts.
so far its holding up really nice! I overclocked it to 1450mhz core and 3850mhz memory with 110% power limit.
Im going to flash the bios to use the kingpin bios so i can use a 125% powerlimit to push it a bit further.^^
but i can already tell that my heavy modded Assetto Corsa at max settings in 2k wqhd is a bit to much for this card (only on shutoko highway with high textures mod) there it can play at full hd. (or 2k when u use medium settings)
otherwise all tracks run at 2k without any problem.
Minor nitpick, but it's actually supposed to be called 1440p, not "2k" resolution. "2k" is the cinema standard for wide 1080p (2048x1080), which is vastly different from 1440p/QHD (2560x1440). It's a common mistake and I totally get why it happens.

Still a amazing GPU for 1080p. And its very cheap these days. Around 100$.
Gonna need sa beefy power supply for one of these, though. Not to mention the fact that Maxwell is right on the cusp of losing driver support from Nvidia. Getting a 1070 for a little bit more would be a better bet IMO, especially since it has more VRAM
@steph_on_yt you dont need really need driver support tbh. People making their own software for Amd carts for years because amd cant make good ones. And every 500W PSU should be enough ez.
I just looked up and one of this used costs around 350 dollars here in Brazil...

While a lot better than in Brazil even here in Australia they are $200-$300AUD depending on the Cooler while 1070 is $150-$200AUD so a much better buy.
@@addictedtosynthwave8151 as far as I know, there is no NimeZ equivalent for Nvidia drivers. Once official support from Nvidia ends, performance and stability with new game releases is gonna be pretty hit-or-miss. That said, this shouldn't be a problem if you only play older games

I ran my EVGA 980ti SSC for 6 years. Great card. Never gave me a single issue. Hell, I still have it.
Same, i only swtiched cause i wanted stable 144fps in Apex. Otherwise i would have keept it.
I bought this card back in 2015 and I'm still running games with it as I'm playing everything at 1080p. Great card!

I think you should test out the AMD Vega 11 and Vega 12 because they're very optimized and good i would be really happy to see you do a test on them i'm planning to buy a laptop with one of them 😄
My GPU before upgrading to a RTX 3060 12GB. Really helped me through the pandemic with its amazing performance. I brought the Zotac Extreme Amp Edition btw for around 230 USD which is a good value back then imo. And sold it half the price after the pandemic for additional funds for my RTX 3060 12GB.
same for me i had the evga version and it did everything i wanted before i replaced it with a rtx 3060ti
Rather then test it on games that we already know can run it, I think it would be better to test these cards on more modern titles.

best way to test GTA Online without destroying GPU utilization is to make an Invite only session and then boot up the scope out or finale of the Cayo Perico Heist.
Vegetation is very dense in Cayo Perico, it absolutely destroys my fps there back when I had my GT 730 same goes to the Casino's Vault room and the LS Car Meet.
also even if you have a CPU with strong single core perf, your fps will still go down along with both your CPU and GPU utilization once you face an area with a bunch of players in freemode.
I remember some guy explaining that it's because the whole lobby is struggling to sync the player's data since GTAO sessions are peer to peer instead of having a dedicated servers, only the matchmaking servers have their own dedicated server🤓
Pray for more games optimized like this... Apart from doom i didnt see any in the last years

i got the 980 ti for 50 bucks and it works and watching this video just says how the 980 ti still can play intensive games in 2023 by its age

i have a 980ti 6gb to this day and i can play most actual games at 4 k at a mix high/middle without a problem. but slowly i realize it reaches its limits. but still very great grapics card

@narkomancers5262 considering how demanding the game is and is only 2y old at that point, runing on high 4k at 90+ fps on a card that wasnt meant to play 4k is impressive esp without the black magic dlss is and fsr. Pure rasterization

This game is great. It was my dream back when it first released for PS3 or so in 2013. I always wanted to play and finish the story but I never did even now.
You're not missing out on anything 🦄. The story is incredibly mid and generic. Most people only play it for the free roam. 🌠

Xenia is what youre looking for... or better yet, wait for the switch version to be released then use yuzu/ryujinx and play it at 60 fps (not even Series X Backward Compatibility is 60fps).

It's getting very similar fps as my gtx 1070. It is using a 100 watts more though...

Test 980ti in Cyberpunk, I had the card and the game ran at 1440p with FSR okay on low to med graphics, I got 3060ti which las double the FPS

a desktop 980ti will perform a little better than a laptop 1660ti most of the time. A 980ti is around the ballpark of a discreet 1660ti.
My 980ti died a few months ago :(... then i bought a 3060ti. But my old i7 4770 couldnt keep the 3060ti at more then 50% usage, even at 4k... then i bought a 13700k with a ddr5... now i want a 4070. LOL.

Keep your 3060, wait a little, then go for something higher end... trading a 3060 for a 3060ti is wasting money.

Yes
I don't know why but my RTX 3060 with Intel i5 12600 and 32 GB of ram performs pretty much the same as gtx 980 ti and somehow on 1080p even slower with the exact same settings msaa and v-sync are being turned off. But I know that RTX 3060 should perform better....
It should perform a bit better yeah.
The 980Ti is similar to the 1660Ti, which is around 15% slower than a 2060. Then the 3060 is about 15% faster than the 2060.
The game could be better optimized to run on older cards though, since it came out in the same year as the 900 series!
GTA V does make you realize a lot of games that come out these days, suck 🤣
