Hi Thom , I do enjoy watching the yard work. Nice looking new locomotive you got there. It’s been dry here also. We have probably gotten about 0.10 inches for the month of October. We had a warm Halloween. Thanks for sharing. Have a good weekend . 😎😎 👍
@@tommynorwood5184 We had 0.43 inches officially. I found a chart going back to 2000 and it was the driest month on record by far. Only a couple of months under 1”. The temperature was fine, just the dreary rain and wind. Looking forward to running the locomotive. So far it’s running well. Enjoy the rest of your week and stay safe!
@@donaldshroyer8633 Hi Donald. I haven’t run t much yet, but so far it’s very nice. It will be good to have another different sounding locomotive on the layout. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and stay safe!
Good morning Thom. A nice switching operation. I thinned out my yard some a couple weeks ago and ran a switching operation last night and discovered I had too many reefers and not enough box cars. oops. Glad to hear you have a fair amount of home time coming.
@@jackheninger5471 Good afternoon, Jack. It’s hard to say what the right ratio is maybe figure out what percentage of car spots use each type of car and structure the roster to that? Anyway, it’s just a hobby and if that’s our biggest problem, we’re pretty lucky. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, have a great week, and stay safe!
Thanks for the ops. Great start to my Saturday. As usual, i got zero trick or treaters in my neighborhood. Just as i was watching and hearing about your rain, it started the first precipitation of the fall here. Lucky they just finished reroofing our condos last week. No leaks detected so far 🤞 Im not much on diesels so didn't know the loco and had to look it up. Sounded somewhat like an alco. Guess GE has some alco heritage though. What breeds is xray supposed to have? Some never calm. Good you're going to be able to stay home more for the remainder of the year.
@@KenN.OXN.805 Hi Ken. We’re not sure of his breed. Maybe whippet? He is pretty high-strung. Really friendly to people once he greets them, but can be intimidating to kids with his yapping and jumping around. Yes, GE and Alcos sort of have a branch of the same family tree together. They are unique sounding. We are at the end of a cul-de-sac and not many people at the head end give out candy so a lot of kids pass our street by. Still, we usually get more than we did due to the rain. Have a great week and stay safe!
@@Phibes525252 I have tried to camouflage them a little. They weren’t that way when I installed them but they shrunk a little and pulled apart. Should have overlapped them by an 1/8” or so, but nothing I can do now other than to keep trying to make them less obvious.. Thanks for watching. Have a great week and stay safe!
@thomplacier677 I ran into that one myself in a basement where the humidity changed and so did the Masonite my backdrop was on. A dehumidifier was the answer in that situation. It was so annoying as it was the best backdrop I'd ever done.
@ My wife and I worked on the one behind the yard yesterday. She is going to attempt to paint the seam. It will always be there but hopefully it will be less noticeable. My layout is in a bedroom and climate controlled but behind that seam is a window. Thanks for your input again. Stay safe!
Good morning Thom, Congratulations on having only one more trip for the year next week! How many weeks were you traveling in 2024? Very enjoyable switching session to start the weekend. Overall the NW2 is a consistent performer in the yard. Always enjoy watching it. Very excited to see your new locomotive in action next week! Up here we are coming off of 2 1/2 days of very windy weather so we’ll have quite a bit of leaves to pick up here. Supposed to get some decent rain Monday into Tuesday. Have a good weekend and enjoy your extra hour as we fall back with the time change. Stay safe on your trip! Scott
@@kahunatiki6498 Good morning Scott. I haven’t counted my travel days yet. Our county refunds taxes on money I earned working outside the county, so I always total it up in January. I think my record is 80 days in one year, but I may have been close this year. I found a chart online and this has been the driest month since the year 2000. 0.43 inches officially. Maybe some rain later this week. Leaves are starting to cover the garden railroad. Worked on some scenery last night, plan on getting more done this weekend. I hope you can get in your train room some. Enjoy your weekend and stay safe!
@ I have been in the basement running trains. My layout is DC and I upgraded my transformer to a brand new MRC 9900 with a walk around throttle and it runs so much better. All of my motive power is fairly old so DCC is not a viable option and does not hurt operations. I also finally took the time to put a black skirt around the layout, following a video how-to from Ron’s trains and things. Looks so much better. Plan on working this weekend trying to complete trolley poles for the Shops yard and I am dabbling with a possibility of an expansion. Keeping my mind busy. Thank you for asking!
@@MichaelManiscalco-k5k Good morning, Michael. Just keep plugging away and you will get there soon enough. The hobby is more of a journey than a destination. We’re all doing well here, just trying to catch up on stuff after being gone so long. I hope you are doing fine, too. Stay safe!
Good Saturday Morning Thom, Another great yard work video. That GE B30-7 looks great. Did you get the Gold Model from Atlas with the ESU lokSound Decoder already installed? I now have three Atlas locomotives with ESU LokSound and they all run great. On mine the Bronze/Brass truck wipers are gone, now being replaced with small wires that are directly attached to the decoder. Is this new B30-7 setup the same way? Cheers, Rich S.
@@RWSBaden Good morning Rich. I haven’t pulled the shell so I’m not sure how it’s set up. Literally pulled it out of the box and put it on the track. Still programmed to 3.
