It's June 2022 when I saw this and it's been the answer to many tech questions and prayers! Due to Covid, our church was closed for two years and we learned to do Zoom and later incorporated RUclips live streaming. Now that we're back in the building, but desiring to continue live streaming, we've encountered a number of issues. I've learned more in 12 mins from your video than I have in hours of watching RUclips videos and online searching for direction and advice. I feel more confident now that we can make this work within our budget. Thank you so much for sharing. Thanks for including the information so that I didn't have to keep stopping to take notes! Just Awesome work.
Awesome. This is Wonderful Guys. Just to sit and watch a Daughter, a Sister Girl Child being technical is what this world needs. Really IMPRESSED🙏 And to Sir, the Technical Guru for the Church I salute You Sir. This is Great. Impartation of Skills is what we lacked as a God Loved People. It has to start with some committed someone and am in Joy we got You Sir. Keep teaching these kids. They will remember and appreciate all this in the years to come. God Bless Rest Tabernacle🙏🙏🙏 Mr Williams😇 Jossy😇
This was awesome, Informative and granular. I love the way she prompted the questions to get everything, even when it was not mentioned. Great team work.
Thank you for the video, may l suggest that you show us how you connect the livestream equipment step by step and the types of cables, vision mixers and switchers you use
Finally, a video about Live Streaming produced by an African American/Black Church. Thank You, Thank, Thank You! Please produce more video like this...
Watching from Yosemite Kentucky. Our very small sized congregation church is considering to purchase new worship equipment for protector and two cameras for live streaming on FB. This video is great. Thank you for sharing!
@@RestTabernacle hi there. Well, we are still researching to be honest. We used an ipad for one service over Christmas.. We will get there. We are thinking of going down the camcorder route.. It seems less complicated.. Thanks again!
We used to run that route but since we switched and bought a TV Switcher such as the Atem Mini Pro we had much excellent streaming. We would rather recommend 2 years later to get one of these TV switchers.
You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the tips! Getting ready to take our churches live stream to the next level from just using an iPhone for our FB live stream!
Thank you for sharing this information. We are so far on point, with what I've seen.our problem is connected to go live. We test run on Saturday before Sun service. But when we come in on Sunday morning, we struggle to be able to go to ( Go live ) it doesn't want to connect up and when it does it goes in and out
If the problem is only on Sunday mornings, then there may be an issue with your internet, particularly the speed at the time you go live. Try and run a speed test when you do your test on Saturday and do another speed test on Sunday to compare. If your upload speed is lower on Sunday mornings, then you may need to adjust your output settings to allow a more stable stream.
Thanks for this. My only concern is on autofocus. My take is the camera shoud be autofocus but with a manual override. Manual focus is what professionals use. Autofocus is for newbees and can be messy in areas with very shiney surfaces... Just like you two, I am a Professional Photographer, Videographer, Editor and Producer at :- MK Productions and Creative Video Services Ltd. Nairobi, Kenya.
This is good, but keep in mind most churches rent, might not have a full setup to keep stable and have to set up and break down before and after service. So also internet might have be used as a hotspot as well but this is a wonderful helpful video.
You're welcome. The hdmi cable type varies depending on the camera. Some use Mini HDMI, some use Micro HDMI. Which camera are you using/planning to use?
Very instructuve Most cameras mentioned here use battery. But considering most services last for like 4 hours, how do you deal with the battery? Is there a way to charge the camera directly while shooting? Or is there a budget friendly camera that can do it? Considering the audio. The behringer capture card used, when all instruemnets are being played, would it produce good output or a cracked one
2 ways to tackle the battery issue. The most efficient way is to use a dummy battery kit that plugs into a power outlet. Just find the kit for your specific camera and battery type. The other is to have multiple batteries and switch them out when one is running low. Not ideal but useful if you're in a spot with no available power outlets. As for the audio, as long as the levels are adjusted properly when everyone is playing, you should have any distortion.
Thank you so much. Very very helpful especially now while am searching to get better online services to my church. Blessings brothers from Jerusalem Arab church Pastor 😁
Hi. I've been looking at a couple of your streams and the mix sounds amazing. I know in the video you talked about sending creating a stream mix with a mix bus but did you recently move from a mixbus to a multitrack broadcast mix in a daw with the macbook?
Hello. Yes you are correct. We are now using the DAW Reaper for our live streams with the X32 as a backup in case there is an issue with the program/computer, which thankfully we haven't had happen.
Thank you Sir. And a thanks to you for the work you do and videos you put out. A few of them definitely helped me as I was learning and tweaking our setup.
The audio is biggest issue. I recommend to get the audio into the camera to ensure video and audio sync. Even with good USB audio interface or mic input on the computer. BMD ATEM mini is also very good for multicam setup. Using Zoom is also another option where the Slides and Video are both available and also steam to Facebook or RUclips
Ok, I really appreciate you doing this video. I am part of the media team for our church and am a photographer as well. I shoot Nikon lmbo. My older brother shoots Canon lol. We tease each other about our cameras. Ok, so what I need to know is how do we connect the digital sound board to our computer so not only will OBS read the sound of our mics, but also so when we stream live to Facebook our audience will hear everything clear? Unfortunately we are using a PC for now, I am trying to get them to move to a iMac. Please help us figure this out.
If your board can connect the computer via USB then there's a good possibility you can get the audio over to the computer by that connection. Just a matter of configuring the board and obs to speak to each other. If your board can't do that then you'll need to connect an aux mix from the board to the line-in of the computer. Another option is to use a USB audio interface. What mixer board are you using?
Thank you for this video. Your media information was clear and to the point. We are upgrading our media equipment and you gave us exactly what we need to do moving forward. Keep up the great work! & God Bless you in the incoming year.
Good day sir/ma i want to say a big thank you for that video on live stream for small churches. it really help. but please can you do some little help by drafting out all the names of the equipments and software, i will really appreciate if you can do that for us. thanks in anticipation.
This is super useful info, seeing that you are using DSLRs that have limited battery capacity how do you ensure your cameras remain on for at least 2-3 hours that a typical service lasts for?
Depending on your camera, one battery may last for the service. But for most cameras you will have to change batteries. You can also use a dummy battery that plugs into power. We have a video coming up soon, that addresses this more in detail.
Hey bro! Thanks for this! I’m still having some trouble with the church live stream! Is there anyway possible to get ahold of you or reach out to you for some more questions!! They are simple but no one to help and don’t know anyone that knows how to set up! So please let me know! Thanks and god bless!!!
I am attempting to live stream using a ptzoptics camera . Im getting video on youtube but no sound. My audio equipment consist of: Mackie mix 8 channel mixer, shure pga-48 cardioid dynamic vocal mic, focusrite scarlett solo 2nd audio interface with pro-tools. The mic is located near the podium where the pastor is. Just live streaming the morning message
Unfortunately we haven't had any experience using any PTZ cameras. Are you using a program like OBS or wirecast to join the audio to the video for the stream?
Great video👌🏾 but just to point out, it’s only the Canon EOS lineup (not sure if it’s all their dslr and mirrorless cams but yeah) that’s able to run as a webcam with the need of a capture card.
Hello Luguann. Thank You for watching! All the major brands, (Canon, Nikon, Fuji, and Sony) have now implemented software that allows their newer cameras (and some older ones) to act as webcams. We've only used the Canon EOS Utility ourselves so can't speak on how the quality is of the others.
Can I ask a pertinent question regarding costs, please? What is the all in cost for hardware & software, if your church was starting with no equipment at all other than internet?
The cost will differ dependant on what country you live in, so it would be hard for me to throw out a number, not knowing where you are. We have included some information in the description that may help you source what you need.
This video helped me out so much. Just getting our live streaming started. I have a Canon EOS Rebel T5 that has auto focus, HDMI out, and video. Do you think this is an option to get us started? Also, can you tell me what settings I need to have the camera on? Thank you all and God Bless!
We're glad the video helped you! Yes you can definitely get started with that camera. You can even just connect it to your computer and use the EOS Webcam Utility to get the picture. You can search on youtube on how others have set theirs up in OBS. We'll be putting together a video answering this exact question step by step in the next few days/weeks. As far as cameras settings go, you can try this to start: put the camera it in Manual mode, set your frame rate to 30 FPS, set your ISO to auto, and your shutter speed to 60. For more control of you can even dial in the iso manually if you wish. www.canon.ca/en/Features/EOS-Webcam-Utility
thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, I am your new subscriber, sending my support to you and to small youtuber like me, keep safe everyone and God Bless you all
Good stuff. Thanks. I think we'll stick with a camcorder so we don't have to worry about the extra expense of lenses. I like the Canon HF R800 for a starter setup.
I'd probably suggest looking into the ATEM Mini. There are a few others out there too like the Feelworld Livepro L1, however The ATEM I've seen seen work live. Check out the RUclips channel AJaytheCEO. He's done a lot of videos with regards to it and others. There is also ones by the company Magewell that you can install into a desktop.
Great video! I’m having trouble with the fact that my camera shuts off-and-on after 29:59. I’m using the Canon 250D (SL3), along with the EOS utility as a webcam. How do I keep my camera from cutting out at 29:59? Thank you!
Excellent video. Very informative. Question: When planning on live-streaming an event via RUclips, does RUclips allow you to send out the livestream url in advance? Or is the url usually generated upon starting the livestream? Please forgive me if this was covered in the video.
Yes we do run a separate mix for the broadcast using our Behringer X32 mixer. If you search on RUclips there are a few tutorials. One in particular you can check out the channel AllamHouse. He has a nice tutorial on how to set it up: ruclips.net/video/Vx4HjArTeZI/видео.html There's another way which we currently use getting audio from a DAW(In our case Reaper). Sound from the mixer into the computer DAW then into OBS. That's a bit more complicated as it took us the better half of 2020 trying to get it working. We're planning on creating a tutorial like that in the near future.
Just came across your video, good info... I have started to live our Church services since the pandemic. However, when you use DSLR camera to relay your video feed to computer, you can't do it for more than half an hour as the battery runs out pretty quickly. So is there a way to connect ac adapter directly to your DSLR camera 📷. Thanks Note.. right now I'm using droidcam x and use my mobile as web cam and relay video to OBS. Sometime NDI for iphone.
Some DSLR have AC adapter power batteries. I know there are 3rd party ones available for most of the Canon DSLRs that use the LP-E6 battery. We at Rest use multiple cameras so when we need to switch batteries we switch cameras views to do so.
even though i knew all this as basic cant wait to see what u can advance me to / i couldnt have told someone more perfect then what u did /and in english
They GoPros are good. We'd probably use it as more of a wide angle shot of the band/stage area/entire sanctuary. However, for a tight shot you'd have to get pretty close to your subject/speaker. But if its working for you, great!
@@RestTabernacle that’s so much for your reply. Yes, it’s worming but the 2 issues are battery life, and the chord. The chord and usb extension chord lay in the center isle because I don’t know how to conceal it.
While I haven't used it first hand, I've seen GoPros with what looks like a battery the size of the GoPro itself in a housing with the battery beside it. Another option could be to just use an external usb power bank used to charge any usb device. Not sure of the power consumption of the GoPro but just look for one that has a few times more capacity than the GoPro's battery (like a 10,000 or 20,000mAh capacity). As for the cord for connecting it to the computer for streaming, unfortunately I don't have a solution for that. Hope this helps!
I have a canon 90d using eos , obs. But it doesn't connect usb or hdmi to my dell xps 15. What can I do to get the live video from my canon 90d to my dell xps 15.
To be clear, you have the 90D, EOS Webcam Utility, and OBS installed on the laptop? Is it that you are you having issues physically connecting the 90D to the XPS 15 because of the physical ports on the laptop? If so, you'd probably need a USB-C to USB-A adapter as I believe those laptops only have USB-C ports.
If I'm understanding you correctly, then yes. It will however depend on how you have the mixer you're using. With the X32 that we use, you can either mirror the mix that you hear in the sanctuary, or setup an AUX BUS that is only for the live stream without changing the sound in the sanctuary. We use the latter for a cleaner sound that doesn't interfere with the other. If this is what you're looking to do as well, please let us know and we'll assist however we can!

Good stuff. Thanks. I think we'll stick with a camcorder so we don't have to worry about the extra expense of lenses. I like the Canon HF R800 for a starter setup.
Yes that is a good starter setup. We. wish you all the best and thank you for watching.
Praise the lord sister and brother very good Amen nice
Thank you!
Great video and info...Question: What do you recommend for capture card using multiple cameras and OBS for streaming? Thanks for the help.
Praise the Lord.
Looking for a second hand video camera. Pls help. Thank you
Try camera stores, or sites like Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist or here in Canada we use Kijiji.
Thanks, nice work, be blessed!
Thank you for watching!
Great video!
I’m having trouble with the fact that my camera shuts off-and-on after 29:59. I’m using the Canon 250D (SL3), along with the EOS utility as a webcam. How do I keep my camera from cutting out at 29:59? Thank you!
Have you tried to disable the "auto power off". Yours is probably set at 30 minutes. Location should be under one of the yellow wrench menus.
Excellent video. Very informative. Question: When planning on live-streaming an event via RUclips, does RUclips allow you to send out the livestream url in advance? Or is the url usually generated upon starting the livestream? Please forgive me if this was covered in the video.
If you set up the event from before and set it to go live at a specific time. A url is generated and that time and you can share it.
@@RestTabernacle Thank you.
I use the xair 18, but I still don't get my instruments through properly. Idk why. Bit frustrating. I'm still learning though.
What about using a mix bus routed to an aux out?
Black production professionals! DOPE!
Thank you!
nice video.wanna ask,do have a seperate mixing for live broadcast??and how can you seperate it in Front of the house
Yes we do run a separate mix for the broadcast using our Behringer X32 mixer. If you search on RUclips there are a few tutorials. One in particular you can check out the channel AllamHouse. He has a nice tutorial on how to set it up: ruclips.net/video/Vx4HjArTeZI/видео.html
There's another way which we currently use getting audio from a DAW(In our case Reaper).
Thanks
Note.. right now I'm using droidcam x and use my mobile as web cam and relay video to OBS. Sometime NDI for iphone.
Some DSLR have AC adapter power batteries. I know there are 3rd party ones available for most of the Canon DSLRs that use the LP-E6 battery. We at Rest use multiple cameras so when we need to switch batteries we switch cameras views to do so.
Do you have a video on setting up the audio
if I HAD to get a laptop, would I be looking for the same specs you mentioned for the desktop?
You might not find the same specs because a desktop can handle more that a laptop but try and find something close.
THANK YOU! this helped a lot.
You’re welcome! Glad it was helpful.
even though i knew all this as basic cant wait to see what u can advance me to / i couldnt have told someone more perfect then what u did /and in english
Thank you! We're working on a few more videos which should come in the next few weeks.
This was sooooooooo helpful!!!
I’m using a GoPro for our church video. What are your thoughts on that?
This was very good and informative 👏🏿👍🏽
Glad it was helpful!
awesome video how would we set up instrument levels for live stream? same volume as mixer to camera?
If I'm understanding you correctly, then yes. It will however depend on how you have the mixer you're using. With the X32 that we use, you can either mirror the mix that you hear in the sanctuary, or setup an AUX BUS that is only for the live stream without changing the sound in the sanctuary. We use the latter for a cleaner sound that doesn't interfere with the other. If this is what you're looking to do as well, please let us know and we'll assist however we can!
@@RestTabernacle That would be interesting to hear more details about this set up. I mean how does it practically look like. Thanks a lot
Atem mini instead of capture cards would be nice too
Yes if your budget can afford it. It is an awesome option.
