As a midrange I like the Star better, the PRV sounds better because it’s brighter but I don’t really want that in a midrange, that’s what tweeters are for.

Skar sounds better. The vocals sound nice with the hint of low mid. The prv was more on the higher mid range.

Thanks for this video Mike! I've been looking at the Skar for awhile now. The PRV seemed brighter, but the Skar had more depth and sounded better as it got louder. With tweets, I like the Skar much better.

High volume the Prv separates itself from the Skar. Prv ftw.

Skar is actually 175 rms where as the prv is 225 rms

  • @JadeB628

That's not an accurate way of testing any speaker. you need to run it with NO crossover. cause if you raise the crossover to 120hz the bass will be Gone.

I think it really comes down to what music you listen to more, I personally liked the skar better when it had the tweeter ran with it the prv had a bright sound which made it sound rich but I feel the super tweeter is what is supposed to make that sound not as much for the mid.

My first comment below was written about half way through your video and it is true, but when you played an actual vocal, the prv is co clear and concise

From what I'm noticing w/ all PRV speakers you've tested is that they focus on the speaker's relative high range & less on it's low range. Looking at the SPL charts, PRV also spikes a lot in high range, but has a major suck out in the mid to lower range of freqs. In this comparison, I would pick the Skar. 8 inch speakers are supposed to provide a good amount of focus on mids & give some bass extension. Just get drivers for higher mids to highs IMO.
