Had just a short 1 mile ride along in one. Rode stiff like the rest of a modern school bus.it wasn't loud, but visibility was a little Lacking but only because I couldn't see over the dashboard very well. I was about 6-7 years old then. About the last time I saw a cabover in my neighborhood. It was a Pete 362, I believe.
9670 Eagle International 85 model my favorite old school Cabover that’s what I’m driving every day. Unloading in Tulsa Oklahoma right now. Keep on trucking!
The first class 8 truck I drove was a Freightliner cabover 350 small cam Cummins and a 13 speed. It was 5 or 6 years old at the time. My boss ended up with a KW 100. I'd take the Freightliner any day of the week.
We had a KW K100 and a GMC Astro cabover at my college. We used them on the CDL test driving range. There K100 was used to pull lowboy for the school's heavy equipment program. Really cool experience.
I'm too young to have driven a cabover, but I'm fascinated by them. My favorites are the K100 Aerodyne and the International 9800 flat floor with the Pro Sleeper.
Been driving for 46 years u hit the nail on the head boy that transtar 2 was and still is a beautiful truck 400 small or big cam Cummins 13 speed boy boy boy
The Freightshakers and IHOP Transtars where notorious for leaky roofs. Nothing like getting soaked because in rivets wallow out the holes in the seams making them rattle and drowned you in any thunderstorm.
I drove 1994 3 axle 11.1 Detroit 9 speed cabover out on the west coast for 12 yrs running Intermodal freight the older the truck got the better it ran and i earned a few dollars along the way
My favorite Mack cab over ????the original F model an old O/O where my Dad drove had one this old guy was cool a Cigar chomping old gear jammer dead ringer for GrandPa Munster from the tv show the Munsters LOL oh this Guys name was Muggy
we had about 40 Freightliner COE and 2 IH Cab overs. The drivers fought over the Transtar. I think 94 was the last COE we bought and still had a couple for yard mules when I left in 2019.
I had a 67 KW cabover with the air and exhaust pipes mortised into the back corners of the bunk. All trucks built in Burnaby B.C. had a serial number starting with 8. I always liked the look of the early Mack CO's with the 2 piece curvy windshields. Dave how about doing a vid on what was used instead of shrink wrap back in the day. Or a study of the various load bars and logistical tracks installed in trailers in early times. and can someone tell me why no manufacturer ever designed an air spray delivery system that would spray off the side windows AND mirrors. You'd have thought that would have been a great invention to have especially if you were on a 2 lane road in the rain.....just push a button and your window and mirror are all clear. Maybe someone you know engineered that. Thanks for another great vid Dave.
I’m surprised they haven’t kept making them in limited numbers for inner city driving with tight turn radius docks and hard streets to turn on and off of. Not to mention that one may be pulled off of local deliveries if a yard dog goes down or vice versa
What about the Ford CL9000? Never drove one because I was scared of heights. Lol The K100 VIT was my favorite the Freightliner a close 2nd. GMC Astro the least favorite. Although it had a shiny 290 with a 10 speed that ran strong and never had to walk home.
One time I filled up a blue colored 1985 Mack cabover with an 8v92 in it. Of the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of trucks I filled at the Nipigon Husky, that' the only Mack CO with a Detroit in it.
The biggest drawback I see for a cabover is having to tilt the cab to get to the engine, and everything in the truck ends up piled against the windshield, you’ll find stuff you lost years ago. If I were to drive one today, I’d want the late 90s International flat floor condo. One of the first trucks I drove was a ‘77 KW K100 with a V8 Cat, 13 speed, air starter, and air assist power steering, was a pulling beast.
Hey Driver. Thanks for taking the time to catch a look at today's upload? Your experiences with Cabovers????

Dave, I’ve never driven a cabover truck but I have a picture of the one my grandfather had when he hauled swinging beef. It’s a K100.

I have a 78 352 Pete and I love everything about it 7:41

I drove all of them with the exception of the Mack !
K200 is massively popular in Australia

Probably feared it was a safety issue/that it would drain the air tanks too quickly
You did not mention White Road Commander or my favorite twin brothers the Chevy TITAN 90 & GMC Astro 9500
Thanks for the history! I always learn something here.😊
Mack cab over is my dream truck

Interesting 🤔🧐. I can tell ya', there never were that many Detroit powered big Mack's back in the day either.
I know that the Pete 372 didn't make the list but it was such an unusual looking COE that it could use its own video.
It was too _smooth and futuristic looking, just like my text formatting_
I do wish sometimes I could've driven a heavy loaded cabover.
How about Diamond Reo

That's the first time I've heard about air powered steering assist/power steering
K100 and IH 9700 were the best Freightliner were also good
international 9000's
Sorry trucker...but I think you mean "The Best AMERICAN Cabovers of All Time"
Yes, good catch.... typo LOL.
