People don't talk about how difficult nursing can be. I would leave my med surge floor in physical pain. My feet and back would hurt so bad from standing up all night. I applaud you for your hard work. 👏🏾
I hope you are payed really well .I feel nursing pay rate needs to increase given now baby sitters with no college degree r making $ 22 to $ 25 per hour .
GIRLLL I WAS A CNA ON MEDSURGE FOR ONLY A MONTH TILL I LEFT AND I WAS IN THE SAME POSITION 😭😭😭not even a nurse props to you and anyone else who can do this
im 18 and ive decided that i wanted to be a travel nurse and after seeing this video and how realistic it is, i was kind of reconsidering but then i said to myself i can do it as long as i keep God with me. and also seeing you crying, taking a breather but getting back up and doing what you need to do motivates me not even me studying to be a nurse but other aspects in life. i just wanna thank you for giving such a realistic view on it because i know its not easy at all & it can really effect your mental health if you arent doing self care.
Aww thanks for watching. It’s not all bad. As you see I had a very easy night the first shift to level out the rest of the week. Like anything you will have good and bad days.
Thank you being honest and raw. I hate how people think nursing is so perfect and glamorous. It’s a hard freaking job and there’s way too many shifts spent crying due to stress and being overwhelmed. Thank you for all your hard work!!
Agree if you care ( and sadly young people are getting into this thinking its great money and because a experienced nurse makes it look easy it is ) I have had those nurses work with me and also as a patient experienced lack of care. Unfortunately they will survive and the good ones will just end up having to leave the bedside for sanity’s sake. I do not expect nursing to change as long as we do not demand it of leadership or healthcare ( patients and families included)
As a nurse, I felt this. The struggle is real and rampant in many nursing settings. Change will only come when the patients/residents/clients advocate for and demand it. The healthcare industry is a scam and doesn’t give a damn. Those of us that are natural nurturers and caregivers get sucked into this field only to find that it is not as advertised lol
It’s certainly a business. I knew from nursing school that it was gone be some foolery lol so when I actually started working on my own it didn’t come as much as a shock to me.
I’m a student nurse and travel nurses are the most talented nurses and the friendliest people. Great video on how nursing actually is. I haven’t seen a video so realistic as this.
I'm with ya gal. I put in 32 years as an RN, with 4 years as a travel nurse working in the O.R. and various ICUs in Maine and Texas. Tough, tough job even under the best of circumstances. You're awesome and I hope your future shines brightly.
Laly Pop, I enjoyed working with my peer group and anesthesia personnel. Most surgeons are tolerable but the titanic insufferableness, arrogance, conceit, megalomania, and God-like thirst for power that many surgeons relish became too much for me after many years, so I left. Got tired of seeing competent, experienced, well-educated, O.R. knowledgeable nurses getting talked to like they were 8-year-olds. I've seen nurses hit by surgeons with filthy bloody gloves, not to mention having their jobs and careers threatened. If you work in the O.R., you better have supremely thick skin and nerves of steel or you'll never last. I've also known too many solid O.R. nurses who became alcoholics and/or drug addicts as a way of "coping" with the inexorable stress of this job along with a woeful lack of support. The best O.R. nurse I ever worked with, totally unknown to me, flew to Florida every other weekend to feed her cocaine habit - true story. A healthy off-the-job routine is necessary. I chose to invest in my health by going to the gym as often as possible. If you can take the heat, you can make decent money.
@@Tomatohater64 oh wow!!!! I really appreciate the insight! Does the surgeon even get in trouble for assaulting the nurses? Did you see this more as travel OR nurse, because I was thinking about looking more into that but it's always good to ask about people's experience first. Thank you!
@@lalypop449 The nurse who caught a bloody backhand straight to her chest during surgery was going to quit and sue the offending surgeon. This is what she told me herself. She was brought into the hospital's administrative offices. She was told how much money Dr. Such & Such brought into the hospital every year. Then she was asked how much money SHE brought into the hospital every year - which was, of course, nothing. They told her to keep her mouth shut and accept Dr. Such & Such's apology if she didn't want any future "difficulties." The nurse told me that Dr. Such & Such approached her shortly thereafter and said this to her: "Well, they told me I had to apologize to you, so there." That was his verbatim "apology" to this woman who was assaulted by him in the O.R. Two months later, she resigned her position and took an out-of-state O.R. position that paid her much more money. I never heard from her again. To answer your question; no, I never saw or heard of any surgeon getting into serious trouble for acting inappropriately toward staff but then again, what's the legal definition of "inappropriate?" As a traveling nurse, I saw this garbage to a lesser degree mainly because it is assumed that you know what you're doing when you walk in the door. You'll get a day or two of basic orientation. Then it's sink or swim. After over 3 decades of full time effort, I placed my license on inactive status and permanently retired from the entire field.
I remember when I first started as a nurse, 6-7patients, no CNAs on the floor whatsoever, critically ill patients, no secretary, I don’t know how I survived. But it made it through and really learned how to be a nurse QUICK
It hit me when you said nobody complains to anyone but ourselves. I realized that while working at one hospital when they tried giving me an admission even though I already had an active rapid, TWO chemos running, two AMS, etc. I said No. Manager said I could leave but said if I did she threatened to have me arrested for abandonment. I put in my notice after that shift and didn’t look back. Burnout is REAL.
Yo I have so much respect for her. She is right, this shit is hard and we will always be super unappreciative. I’m glad she stepped away because this shit is true. They treat nurses like that and this not right... change is needed. No one should have to stress that much and then come back the next day and pretend everything is cool. It’s unreal...
“I don’t know what everybody else be doing” 😂girl same. I pull my meds early, go ahead and get everybody something to drink and get the show on the road
I really appreciated you having that moment in the bathroom where you just had to cry it out for a minute. There’s been times I be so frustrated at work because the nurse to patient ratio is so out of control and I have to have a little vent/cry session in the med room because it’s so dang overwhelming. Thank you for showing how it really is in nursing. You are awesome ❤️
Feels good to know I am not alone,I cry when the nurse to patient ratio is so out of control and I see every other nurse going on like everything is fine.
Like I tell my kids “crying is therapeutic, it cleanses the soul” 💜 As a Social Worker , I understand how real burnout is 😔 and how serious the need for understanding self care is 💞 I command you on your genuine love for your patient’s ... you rock 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This is the best representation of how night shift goes . People assume the patients are asleep all night but really we are running around more than people think. I work in the neuro icu and even I would have been like what the heck with that patient And multiple other patients. Thank you for normalizing crying it out ! Keep pushing !!!!
I’m working from home after 26 yrs of nursing (8 CNA yrs) & I DO NOT miss hands on nursing! You’re overworked, not appreciated, & usually under paid. I’m so blessed & grateful to God that I am out of those environments! Take a break for yourself sis💕
Just got into nursing school and have ALWAYS been looking for a very in depth look at a day in the life. Most of them show them getting ready, and then leaving the hospital and I’m like “this doesn’t help me at all”but this? Shows EVERYTHING! I love this video. Definitely subscribed 😊😊
Thank you for such an accurate depiction of nursing today. More nurses are getting so burned out so much faster because of the issues that you mentioned. I’ve been ER nursing for 6.5 years and have already left my full time job at bedside for another career. I still work PRN, but a lot of issues you highlighted are true for many places. I had to learn that healthcare at the end of the day is a business, and you are replaceable - so you have to take care of yourself first.
I just got to the end and girllllllll I just cried with you, I worked as a CNA on a IMCU tele floor IT WAS HORRIBLE. Like I have 21 patients in one night bad 🙂 it’s all about the money. I almost gave up on my dream because it’s like do I want to be apart of this scam. But honestly you touch lives as a nurse and I do think we can make a difference in our little way. You are a DAMN GREAT nurse. I would’ve loveeeedd to work with you. I’m taking notes 😇
@@mayahelan2078 how does that work tho? What if you don’t get everything that’s scheduled to be done for each patient before your shift is over? Do you get in trouble
Yall do matter. People have an issue n spend years talking about “the nurse was so nice” yall meet people at the most vulnerable part of their lives never downplay your role! & thank you for your service
I salute you Med Surg nurses. I wasn’t cut out for it. Now I’m working in hospice and home health, I really enjoy it and honestly, that’s all I can handle with my anxiety levels. It’s so hard when you’re a nurse who puts your all into patient care and without adequate support or resources. Take care of yourself hun! Take care of you first!
PCT here... This is one of the most honest videos I’ve seen in a while. It’s overwhelming nurses with 6-7 patients, Tech with 16-18 patients. It’s impossible to give effective care with that much of a work load. It feel like management only care about their budget. Praying for you. I can tell that you are a really great nurse!
I'm a nursing student and when I did clinical on a neuro medsurg floor they only had one tech for the entire unit. I was like wow...I was glad to help them out where I could.
I’m not even into nursing, but I love how real this video and her vibe is because leave it to IG, nursing is viewed as happy days, luxury apartments, and Mercedes trucks
this was one of the realest nursing videos i've ever seen! i'm graduating with my BSN in may and i have mixed feelings, half of me is excited but the other half of me knows the reality of what its really like especially right now. i've been a CNA for about 4 years and feel like i'm already burnt out. thank you for sharing and being genuine!!
I agree it can be very overwhelming. I’m not quitting though, it’s too many options out here for nurses to just throw my whole degree away. That’s the beauty of nursing, you don’t like one sector of it, go somewhere else. Plus I worked too hard lol
@@SincerelyShannonSubcribe right...if you dont want to do too much there is a field of nursing for that so idk why people would leave rather than exploring another option in nursing all together
OMG YES!!!! The money is good but there can come a point when ur mental health can only take so much! This is the reason why ALOT of nurses leave the bedside/staff hospital nursing and go into informatics, education, admin, because it’s complete bs the way nurses are being treated. And of course no one gets it because they only see what’s going on now on social media smh
I have been a nurse for 34 years. Nursing has not changed with its bs in all those years in every field I have been a nurse. TFS your shifts. I worked days, nights, evenings ( I have been a RN for a long time) I rarely got enough fluids or proper lunch breaks. The more technology the worse nursing jobs have gotten. I have done many kinds of nursing its just a common theme and frankly nursing leadership rarely last if they actually lead nurses. They do not they are about the corporation. I am so sorry. Nursing is a work of the heart. I cannot do bedside nursing I have had so many injuries. This is what causes nurses to leave when you get so stressed! Case management is not any better. My heart truly goes out to you. Hugs, prayers and love and I mean that truly
Omg girl I feel your pain about being burnt out in the healthcare field. I’m a respiratory therapist and have been for almost 2 years and I’m honestly completely burned out with the amount of work load I’ve had over the past year. My most recent shift I had floor therapy and I literally had 40 pts at the beginning of my shift not to mention the countless new admits from ER throughout the night and the 5 codes/MET Teams I had. I literally wanted to cry by the end of my shift. The burn out is REAL!
I've always had respect for nurses (two of my aunts are nurses) but this just skyrocketed my respect. I love how you look after yourself first so you can better look after others. Random but I love your glasses 😍Keep going, Nurse Shannon. You're doing a life-saving work that's appreciated by many 🙌🏽
It was great to see all that nurses do in a shift! I’m a resident and I fell like I don’t know anything that other healthcare professionals do throughout the day. Videos like this can help us understand each other more! I love watching things like this because it helps me appreciate and respect nurses on the units I work on even more💕. Thank you for all you do for patients!
Girl!!! This is the REALIST video I've seen for day in the life of a nurse. I'm a nurse too and did travel nursing and I felt like I was reliving my shifts watching your video! From getting irritated at the nurse showing up late to having high acuity patients with 1:7 ratios and no resources!! Burn out is real but you're doing great! Keep kicking ass!
I left floor nursing a long time ago, but baby… the sounds of the machines are giving me anxiety. Still so familiar… folks don’t understand. So glad nurses now can show what nurses go through. 🙌🏾
I’m graduating next year also and I’m super nervous but I live for ppl like you who show us the truth and what our future look likes. This video was a blessing because I would like to be a traveling nurse and the fact that your video popped up on my page, gives me some insight. Thank you 🙏
used to do med surg and felt every emotion you had. I have yet to see another YT video that keeps it real like you. I moved to ER and although it's a diff beast, it aint easy either. so raw and real. us nurses deserve better. so much for being "heroes"
I can’t scream how much you hit the nail on the head!! I’m a LPN currently in school for my RN and I feel 100% defeated in LTC every single day. I give my best but feel like I’m constantly put in positions where I can’t provide adequate care and keep my patients safe. Something has to give. I needed this video bc you only see the glitz n glam videos but not these raw real videos. Keep strong girl ❤️
LTC is no joke...You may be giving meds down 1-2 halls...and thats scheduled meds..not to mention prn..or if an incident occurs..resident has to be transferred!!
Shannon my heart truly goes out to you and all nurses working in these type of conditions…thank you for your transparency n keeping it real… it’s so unfortunate that it has come down to this for patients and nurses 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Praying for peace, mental stability/happiness, and strength for you. From one nurse to another, when no one else has our back we have each other. And as you stated, it’s okay to take care of yourself. Keep your head up girl! You are truly appreciated💕
I’m a nurse in Germany and I can relate to your vent.. they treat nurses pretty much the same all around the world. They forget that we carry a patient’s life on our shoulders and having 7 patients per shift that’s 7 lives.. And if anything goes wrong all of that stuff is on you.. u work so many days with no break it’s hard mentally and physically... our job is really not appreciated as it should be
I agree with you 100% SELF CARE is sooo IMPORTANT, especially if you’re a nurse or in healthcare! We as nurses are always busy caring for others and we sometimes but ourselves on the back burner😳Take care of yourself first so you can take care of others😃
I’m an RN too, I loveeee being a nurse but it’s taken such a hit on my mental health. I’ve never dealt with anxiety until being a nurse. I step away and cry too girl, I feel you.
Tech here...I've learned too to limit as much as possible how much I enter into the patients room unless it's of course neccessary otherwise. I know that it tends to bother them especially on nightshift when you consistently go in and out of their room unnecessarily. They appreciate all of the peace they can get as I do too. Time management and organization in this field are so essential. Good vlog.
I’m Tired 😓...Next month, April 24, 2021 will be 8 years since I been a Nurse! I’m at a point where I have to leave bedside Nursing or Change Careers completely!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t know how I came across your channel, but you are not alone with your feelings! It’s definitely a business...Nurse to Patient ratio is usually not doable! But we push through!
I’ve been a nurse a long time. You did great! You worked hard and advocated for your patients! The burnt out will come and go! You have to take care of yourself as well! Stay strong ❤️
My first job was RN in emergency, med surg, oncology and psychiatry in India. I’ve done that for 4 years. That experience totally changed me as a nurse and a human. Sometimes when I look back I feel like I can never go through that again. This profession needs lots of patience, compassion, emotional intelligence and discipline. Sometimes we have to cry and need some moments to calm down. So I’m proud about myself and my fellow nurses.
I’m a first semester nursing student and I wanted to start a youtube channel documenting my journey but every day is a struggle and i’m trying to make it to the end of the semester. But I came across this video and I finally found someone who is keeping it real, the same way I would want to. You got a new subscriber for sure!
Start, even when its stressful People like to see other ppl they can relate to. If you look at my videos when I was in nursing school I kept it 1000, on my good and bad days!
I’m not a nurse, but I truly appreciate everything you all do! I’m a teacher and I know the two jobs are not the same, but listening to what you’re saying and how you feel, there are a lot of parallels with how both professions are treated. Thank you for everything you do! I know it goes unnoticed, but I hope you know that you are appreciated and you all deserve the world and more for what you all do daily!
I’m a graduate nurse and was blessed enough to land a spot in a residency program! I’m already ready to start travel nursing and this video was like you were a preceptor and was veryyyy informative. Thank you for all you do!
It is so comforting to know that I'm not the only one that feels this way, when I'm overwhelmed with patients who require a level of care I cannot give them on my own when I have another 5 patients. I've been so frustrated with my job as a new nurse but at least I'm not the only one. No one should be made to cry because the conditions of their work are unsafe. I am still pretty new in the field of nursing and I feel completely exhausted psychically and mentally. Thanks for sharing!
Watching this was therapeutic for me. Everything you said is everything I feel all of the time. Nurses are humans and we do our best, but we can't do it all. Thank you so so much for this video.. I wish everyone could see this and understand.
This is the realest vlog that ive ever seen gurl i appreciate your compassion for your patients but your mental health and safety is most important there are other facilities that are worthy of your worth ethic and compassion get out while you can and find a position that makes you happy and is fulfilling your lifes work as a nurse as soon asI did that I didn't look back there was no money worth your unhappiness
New night shift nurse here, I needed this so bad right now. I cried with you when you cried girl. But you are so amazing and strong. I feel like I've learned from your experience and I am better prepared. Thank you for sharing this amazing video ❤❤❤
Thank you for showing the real!!!!! Nursing is hard, I've had many days where ive cried too. You're a good nurse I can tell and I love to see the team work. We need more nurses like that, thank you!
I moved to Fort Kent ME almost 2 years ago; and the hospital here is the first place I have worked that had adequate staffing and resources. It’s such a relief compared to other places I have worked and other stories I’ve heard. Of course there are some issues, like you have anywhere, but honestly it’s really good about pt ratio. So don’t give up hope- there are some places out there that are nice.
I’m currently an LPN in a float pool. I worked as a tech for 2 years on a telemetry floor in a different hospital. It was overwhelming at times especially for the nurses. The hospital I work at now doesn’t assign more than 5 patients on a medsurg floor. The acuity is also taken in account for when creating assignments which is why I decided to work this hospital. I’m currently in my fourth semester of RN school and I’ve decided that I’d rather work an ICU before I ever decide to work medsurg because I witnessed too much burnout and frustration from the lack of staff and patient load.
You appear to be on assignment at one of my local hospitals. I’m an oncology nurse. Our patient acuity is high with staffing ratios at 5:1. Sadly, unsafe staffing ratios appear to be the new norm. Nursing burnout is REAL. And you’re right, self care is LIFE! I support and highly respect you. And collectively, as a community, we sincerely appreciate our travel nurses.
I really do appreciate your vulnerability with us. This is exactly what we all need to see. I am currently going thru school for nursing and this is the footage I needed and have been looking for. Thank you for being you and most of all, thank you for your resilience!!
I really want to wholeheartedly thank you for this video because sometimes ppl don’t get it. When u truly want the best outcome for your patients shit is STRESSFUL & OVERWHELMING! It can be emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally exhausting. Continue doing what you doing. I hear you sis. #NURSESUNITED
That’s how you know that you had a rough night. When you look at yourself after your shift, like “dang, my wig has been looking crazy like this all night?” Lol
Sometimes you just gotta cry it out. Weirdos will call you a cry baby. But whatever it takes to make sure you can focus on the right now. I am going to nursing school after getting my B.S. Your video was both informative and real. Thank you for all that you do.
Watching this coming off a stretch of nights is really hitting home. I also work on a cardiac med-surg floor and we are constantly short-staffed, out of resources, and get dumped on with inappropriate admissions that should be on critical care units. Just last night we didn't even have urinals on our floor... it hurts to feel as though you work SO incredibly hard and stretch yourself so thin and still be providing mediocre care. Makes it feel not worth it.
I love that you use your introduction to determine your patient’s personalities and then base your schedule on that... you bet I’ll be using the same technique from now on 😂
I just came from the hospital yesterday I unfortunately had a miscarriage and my nurse was a travel nurse she was so nice and so sweet I respect all nurses, doctors, cnas, Lpn etc. because it’s a lot of work I went to school for CNA and I know how hard it can be. But my travel nurse was omg I’m gonna cry… but while I was going through my miscarriage she talked to me and she was just there for me. I didn’t feel alone I felt like she really loved her job she talked to me about her nursing journey and she inspired me to go back to school to start my RN journey or EMT journey I’m just so thankful for her and all the medical workers. 🥰👸🏾
Nursing is definitely SAVAGE. I still love it. My objective is always patient care, but the business aspect of nursing doesn't allow us 2 matter. I take it 1 day @ a time & try 2 b a positive light 4 my colleagues when they're struggling. 1 thing I know is, nursing is my calling. I ask God 2 give me everything I need 2 make it happen. I'm high energy, so it works 4 me, but the mental aspect can b trying. People think I'm crazy bc I refuse 2 work full-time. PRN & traveling works 4 me bc I can take off when I want & need. On travel assignments, I'm not gonna b there permanently, so I push thru with gr8 expectations. I'm in wk 18 of my current assignment with 3 weeks left. I'm ready 2 go.
This was deep. Thanks for the enlightenment. I’m glad you kept your boundaries in place to have your snack time, vent and pause to breathe. Keep your passion, God and karma are taking notes! Love and Light! 🌹
Im so glad to see your channel. I'm a traveler and wanted to make a channel like this and showing the truth but ...the way my patience is built girlllllll. I cry when I'm frustrated and tired too. The ending 🥲 Felt you 100% it’s all about the coins nowadays. Sadly, I’ve questioned my nursing career several times because of it. And with the Pandemic, I’ve seen some really upsetting things amongst co-workers and management. Anyways, bigs hugs to you hun. Continue to do what’s right so at least when you go home, you have peace of mind knowing that you’ve done what you could. Hugsss❤️❤️❤️
You are so beautiful both inside and out. I felt your pain when you had to just cry it out before getting started. There are so so so many issues in nursing and I literally cannot thank you enough for being brave and showing the world what REAL NURSING looks like. I’m so tired of all of the cutesy little posts that don’t even show the real raw parts of nursing. I find so many people who either just pretend like these aren’t real issues or just straight up act like everything is fine when sometimes it’s not. Social media continues to encourage everyone to become a nurse without showing them what they’re actually getting themselves into. Don’t get me wrong I love the part of my job where I’m making a difference and healing people but at certain point we carry so much on our shoulders and for what? Like why are we taking these ridiculous patient loads without CNAs like why is that okay? At the end of the day these are peoples LIVES that are being affected by us not having the time or resources to do what we need to do for them. And guess what? When things hit the fan everyone turns to us to wonder why things went wrong. We can only do so much. To top it off nurse bullying is still a real issue as well. I started nursing during this pandemic and I know everyone says this isn’t what nursing actually looks like and I just can’t wait for the day things finally go back to what they’re supposed to be like if that ever even happens. Thank you so so so much for this video, the value in this is unmatched. I watched every second of it.
Thank you for making me feel normal about being so overwhelmed. I just started as med surg nurse and it’s superrrrr hard. I feel you sis, gotta cry it out sometimes.
Omg I have felt that 😂😂😂 keep going don’t worry not a normal expectation from travel nursing. You are a nurse and can do anything!!! Keep your head up and we are with you 😊
I’m still working towards my nursing degree but i appreciate how real life and raw this video is. you are truly a great nurse i aspire to be like you 🤍

This!!! Man…

I'm with ya gal. I put in 32 years as an RN, with 4 years as a travel nurse working in the O.R. and various ICUs in Maine and Texas. Tough, tough job even under the best of circumstances. You're awesome and I hope your future shines brightly.
Thanks so much!
How'd you like the OR???
Those be the times that you learn the most 😩
It hit me when you said nobody complains to anyone but ourselves.
Oh they tried it! The fact that she even threatened you like that! I’m glad you left bc that was not ok!
I’m glad you left. Omg, that’s madness @MK
What, they can do that??......
That’s terrible . I applaud you for having the courage to say enough is enough !
@@lalypop449 Only if its in your union agreement. Some unions clearly are not for the worker haha.
I’m glad you feel me!
You know what you should be a nursing teacher fr because this is really educational fr.
Aww thanks so much for watching❣️
“I don’t know what everybody else be doing” 😂girl same. I pull my meds early, go ahead and get everybody something to drink and get the show on the road
I be trying to get stuff out the way early so I can either chill or at least be caught up enough if something decide to go left lol
Sometimes it be like that. Cry it out and get back to it! Thanks so much for watching❣️
God bless, Jesus loves you and died for you all.
Go on strike
Feels good to know I am not alone,I cry when the nurse to patient ratio is so out of control and I see every other nurse going on like everything is fine.
Sadly we just become accustomed to being overwork😩
Like I tell my kids “crying is therapeutic, it cleanses the soul” 💜 As a Social Worker , I understand how real burnout is 😔 and how serious the need for understanding self care is 💞 I command you on your genuine love for your patient’s ... you rock 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hey Britt! I didn’t know you were a social worker?! So yes, you understand burnout is real! Thanks so much for watching❣️
This is the best representation of how night shift goes . People assume the patients are asleep all night but really we are running around more than people think. I work in the neuro icu and even I would have been like what the heck with that patient And multiple other patients. Thank you for normalizing crying it out ! Keep pushing !!!!
Night shift has its perks but it’s still work nonetheless
I’m working from home after 26 yrs of nursing (8 CNA yrs) & I DO NOT miss hands on nursing! You’re overworked, not appreciated, & usually under paid. I’m so blessed & grateful to God that I am out of those environments! Take a break for yourself sis💕
Glad you got out and found something you enjoy. Thanks for watching ❣️
What do you do now???
Just got into nursing school and have ALWAYS been looking for a very in depth look at a day in the life. Most of them show them getting ready, and then leaving the hospital and I’m like “this doesn’t help me at all”but this? Shows EVERYTHING! I love this video. Definitely subscribed 😊😊
Glad you found the video useful❣️
Thank you for such an accurate depiction of nursing today. More nurses are getting so burned out so much faster because of the issues that you mentioned. I’ve been ER nursing for 6.5 years and have already left my full time job at bedside for another career. I still work PRN, but a lot of issues you highlighted are true for many places. I had to learn that healthcare at the end of the day is a business, and you are replaceable - so you have to take care of yourself first.
Yes, so true. Take care of yourself 1st!
Girl, when you started crying I cried with you. It’s tough out here for us nurses.
Sometimes you just need a good cry and then it’s back to it
I just got to the end and girllllllll I just cried with you, I worked as a CNA on a IMCU tele floor IT WAS HORRIBLE.
I love the CNA’s❣️I try to help out as much as I can bc w/o them my job would be way harder 😩
21 patients by yourself!? Were you the only CNA??
@@dreamergirlbaby nope! Me and another girl! She had 20 😭 this happened often but that was the most.
It’s tough for sure. Thanks for watching ❣️
You are very right dear. My anxiety can't handle it too so I do hospice nurse and home care
@@ireneirene4866 hospice case load is high too .
Hospice and Homecare is my next course..looking now! 20 years in nursing🙏🌟🙏
Aww thanks. We both know the struggle. Hopefully change will come about soon
I'm a nursing student and when I did clinical on a neuro medsurg floor they only had one tech for the entire unit. I was like wow...I was glad to help them out where I could.
In some countries like Jamaica you might even find one RN to a ward! It’s crazy with the shortage
I’m not even into nursing, but I love how real this video and her vibe is because leave it to IG, nursing is viewed as happy days, luxury apartments, and Mercedes trucks
aww thanks for watchin!
I would help my sister study when she was in nursing school and it looked so complicated, I give it to nurses!!!
It was complicated lol
Just as we salute veterans, we must salute our dedicated healthcare workers. I appreciate you.
Thank you so much!
this was one of the realest nursing videos i've ever seen! i'm graduating with my BSN in may and i have mixed feelings, half of me is excited but the other half of me knows the reality of what its really like especially right now. i've been a CNA for about 4 years and feel like i'm already burnt out. thank you for sharing and being genuine!!
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and all you do as a CNA, you are definitely appreciated ❣️
Such a rewarding career... I pray that you continue to stay safe; God bless you!
Thanks❣️
Your hair is fabulous daahhhling! Is this mane yours if not please link the wig and process to place for meeeeee🙏🙏🙏
Thank you ❣️ It’s a sew in. The hair is good but I wouldn’t recommend dealing with the lady who I purchased it from 😩
@@SincerelyShannonSubcribe that’s sad that people are that shitty
I’ve been travel nursing since 2015! I love it! Do my 13 weeks and I’m out! Plus the pay is so much better! I just wish all hospitals used epic!
I agree!
How much do you usually make in those 13 weeks? Aspiring travel nurse in school right now!
Nursing is overwhelming. I quit nursing two months ago and I’m not looking back. Sending you positive vibes.
What are other career options Idk wtf I want to do I just need something that pays well
Just Google other nursing careers. Find what you’re interested in & go from there
Thats the great thing about nursing, you can always move around.
Yes, the pandemic made RT job even in higher demand. Y’all the real MVP’s during this whole thing!❣️
I understand you both! I’m already burnt out & my body is just soooo drained! But we got this ladies❤️❤️
This was such an honest view into travel nursing... everybody talks about the good parts... you gave the truth! Thanks
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching 🥰
I've always had respect for nurses (two of my aunts are nurses) but this just skyrocketed my respect. I love how you look after yourself first so you can better look after others. Random but I love your glasses 😍Keep going, Nurse Shannon. You're doing a life-saving work that's appreciated by many 🙌🏽
Thank you🥰
It was great to see all that nurses do in a shift! I’m a resident and I fell like I don’t know anything that other healthcare professionals do throughout the day. Videos like this can help us understand each other more! I love watching things like this because it helps me appreciate and respect nurses on the units I work on even more💕. Thank you for all you do for patients!
Glad you enjoyed❣️
I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching ❣️
I left floor nursing a long time ago, but baby… the sounds of the machines are giving me anxiety. Still so familiar… folks don’t understand. So glad nurses now can show what nurses go through. 🙌🏾
😂 me too!
I’ll be graduating next year from nursing RN-BSN and I’m already nervous. It is soooooooooooooo much. Praying to finish. My brain hurts haha 😆
Next year will be here before you know it! You got this!
I’m graduating next year also and I’m super nervous but I live for ppl like you who show us the truth and what our future look likes. This video was a blessing because I would like to be a traveling nurse and the fact that your video popped up on my page, gives me some insight. Thank you 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it! I have to give y’all the real, nursing is far from glamorous! Wishing you well on your nursing school journey ❣️
Keep pushing girl. Totally understand. In the same boat. But we got this 💪🏽🙏🏽
If I can do it, then you can do it. It can be little overwhelming in the beginning but you’ll be fine
used to do med surg and felt every emotion you had. I have yet to see another YT video that keeps it real like you. I moved to ER and although it's a diff beast, it aint easy either. so raw and real. us nurses deserve better. so much for being "heroes"
Thanks ❣️
I freaking love this, it’s like I’m shadowing u while at work and ur the nurse who actually tlks and teach us students some knowledge
❣️
I can’t scream how much you hit the nail on the head!! I’m a LPN currently in school for my RN and I feel 100% defeated in LTC every single day. I give my best but feel like I’m constantly put in positions where I can’t provide adequate care and keep my patients safe. Something has to give. I needed this video bc you only see the glitz n glam videos but not these raw real videos. Keep strong girl ❤️
Listen, I hear ya! It's tough out here for us!
🫶🏾
Praying for peace, mental stability/happiness, and strength for you. From one nurse to another, when no one else has our back we have each other. And as you stated, it’s okay to take care of yourself. Keep your head up girl! You are truly appreciated💕
Thank you so much🥰
I’m a nurse in Germany and I can relate to your vent.. they treat nurses pretty much the same all around the world. They forget that we carry a patient’s life on our shoulders and having 7 patients per shift that’s 7 lives.. And if anything goes wrong all of that stuff is on you.. u work so many days with no break it’s hard mentally and physically... our job is really not appreciated as it should be
It's tough out here as a nurse. I'm glad you can relate. Thanks for watching!
I agree with you 100% SELF CARE is sooo IMPORTANT, especially if you’re a nurse or in healthcare! We as nurses are always busy caring for others and we sometimes but ourselves on the back burner😳Take care of yourself first so you can take care of others😃
Self care is definitely nonnegotiable
It’s amazing how much you were able to film on your shift! ❤️ it’s like I was right there with you girl 😅
That was the goal, glad you enjoyed it❣️
I’m an RN too, I loveeee being a nurse but it’s taken such a hit on my mental health. I’ve never dealt with anxiety until being a nurse. I step away and cry too girl, I feel you.
I feel you! Nursing is a very taxing job
Good vlog.
Yes, I think that where so many new nurses fail initially at; time management and cluster care. Thanks so much for watching❣️
I commend you! 8 years!? Bless you!
❣️
I watched every second of this video, and I just want to say every single one of you nurses are superwoman, you are all amazing✨
Thanks 🥰
Thanks so much❣️
I’m a graduate nurse and was blessed enough to land a spot in a residency program! I’m already ready to start travel nursing and this video was like you were a preceptor and was veryyyy informative. Thank you for all you do!
Best of luck!
So true!
That’s the beauty of travel, if you don’t like it, you’ll be leaving soon lol thanks so much for watching❣️
New night shift nurse here, I needed this so bad right now. I cried with you when you cried girl. But you are so amazing and strong. I feel like I've learned from your experience and I am better prepared. Thank you for sharing this amazing video ❤❤❤
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching ❣️
Thank you for showing the real!!!!! Nursing is hard, I've had many days where ive cried too. You're a good nurse I can tell and I love to see the team work. We need more nurses like that, thank you!
Aww thanks!
It was so refreshing to see the transparency of how the job can TRULY be! I appreciate this.
You’re welcome ❣️
This was the best Day in my life yet...I hate when people are late also, ESPECIALLY when they know someone else is waiting on them...
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching❣️
That's nice to hear. My current assignment is a dream lol I'm glad I got to experience a good facility at least once.
Sounds like a good hospital!
❣️
I really do appreciate your vulnerability with us. This is exactly what we all need to see. I am currently going thru school for nursing and this is the footage I needed and have been looking for. Thank you for being you and most of all, thank you for your resilience!!

That’s how you know that you had a rough night. When you look at yourself after your shift, like “dang, my wig has been looking crazy like this all night?” Lol
Lol a mess
Sometimes you just gotta cry it out. Weirdos will call you a cry baby. But whatever it takes to make sure you can focus on the right now. I am going to nursing school after getting my B.S. Your video was both informative and real. Thank you for all that you do.
So true!
Uggh I totally understand! Hopefully there are brighter days ahead
Yeessssss! I so feel you on being tired sis. People who aren’t in the nursing field just don’t get it or understand.
So true and thats why we have to always put ourselves first
I love that you use your introduction to determine your patient’s personalities and then base your schedule on that... you bet I’ll be using the same technique from now on 😂
It’s really helps to see who I need to tend to first lol
I’m glad you have a good experience with the nurse. Sorry for your lost❣️
That’s great! Yes nursing is very trying! I don’t blame you, I never see myself going full time lol
Thank you to all the front line workers you are well appreciated and I am thankful.

Thanks so much ❣️
You are so beautiful both inside and out.
Thanks soooo much!
I really appreciate this and seeing the reality I am a senior who got into a pre nursing program and you motivate me more to do this passion ❤️
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 🥰
Thank you for making me feel normal about being so overwhelmed. I just started as med surg nurse and it’s superrrrr hard. I feel you sis, gotta cry it out sometimes.

Thank you for unloading. I'm a Medical Assistant for a big private medical facility in NY and lately I've been feeling the same pt care and pt safety don't exist anymore. Medicine is a big money racket now a days. Md' & Admin have become very insensitive and greedy.
I’m glad you feel me. It’s tough out here, for nurses and patients 😩

Thank you for this video, I’ve decided to get my LPN since I already have my bachelors and then bridge over to RN. I can’t wait to start my new journey, stay safe and thank you for your work!
