CC is the control change message, this tells the MIDI receiver what you want to change, value is a number that provides more information related to the cc message, like what exactly you want to change it to.
Would be cool if you could share how you prepared your backing tracks for live use, did you rehearse with all the stems on separate tracks to fine tune them to the band and then bounced it to a single file?
Tip: If there is a slight millisecond delay with the CC / bank / scene changes on whatever modeler you are using, bump the CC changes a few milliseconds ahead of whatever song structure change you are about to play, instead of snapping each CC command onto the grid, which may cause a lag to the song change.
Thanks you man, this one is very useful. I have question, though. Do I have to decide whether to use scenes or presets? I mean, how do you switch from heavy tone to clean tone in scenes? You place two separated amps and toggle on/off for that?
Hey Keyan, I love these vids. I have a quick question, do you know if it's possible to trigger preset changes on the Quad Cortex via midi from an Roland SP404 MKII Sampler? I use my the SP404 for tracks and samples and I want to avoid a computer on stage or side stage, especially when I perform solo. So I have samples on my MK2 that I play live and ideally those trigger the Quad Cortex preset, and ideally my volca drum pattern and play perfectly in sync. Currently I just have BPM info from the Roland SP404 MKII sending via midi.
One problem I have always had with scene switching through Ableton is that there is always a delay. I usually have to put the midi a little before where the change actually occurs to get it on time. Not sure if you have ever encountered/heard of this. Thanks for the dope content!
I noticed that delay depends on two things: buffer size and overall laptop specs. With low buffer size (128 samples and lower) it's possible to minimise the delay so it won't be an issue. I actually have a song where I need a 16-th note precise scene switch, and it works fine for me.
It's the same on two different computers. One is a MacBook air with an m1 and the other is a PC with an i7-8700k. It happens even if that is the only track in the daw. I will try changing the buffer! I also see qc came out with an update yesterday hopefully these changes can solve my issue. Appreciate the reply!
An easy solution I found to this is to just have multiple audio tracks with each preset in a different audio track and use MIDI to turn them on/off, and there is no delay
Dude this was awesome! Thanks! So if running a laptop and going usb out for tracks and click into a digital mixer, how do you recommend running that out to the qc? Just run a midi out from the mixer to the QC?
Any idea if reaper lets you send out to outboard effects players ? We don’t use laptops. We have a device that runs our tracks and midi switching but finding a DAW that lets us export midi out is rough
it works but I have A lot of drop outs and somehow they can not manage it like Kemper. Do you know how to avoid that? the thing is that I have to change banks because it is not possible to work with only one bank.
It would be good practice to send the same CC# a 0 after the change. This will mimic the same behavior as if you tapped the button physically on the QC. Note: Not sure of the tuner, since I don't utilize that during live as the QC is in my rack. The reason is that in most cases you will not physically hold and sustain the button down. The other is to send the CC# for tempo change first thing. The same technique works for any Headrush modelers as well just a different set of Change Controls, see manual.

Bro this video was a godsend 😁 gave me the push I needed to try it myself and OHMAGAD!! 😂
Thank you 💪
I HAVENT SLEPT YET BECAUSE IM RECORDING A DEMO TO SHOW MY ENGINEER ITS 5:30 AM AND I GET TO WATCH A NEW KEYAN VIDEO YIPPEE
DAMN BRO THATS CRAZY YEAAAAHHH BOOIII
Did you end up going to sleep or are you still awake?
@@DwayneCreates lol i crashed out at like 4pm that day
All caps cracked out tired it seems. Hope you got some sleep and are more lower caps chilling now lol
Been watching for a while and I’m just getting started doing a solo project with a vocalist. Going to give this a try with my axe fx iii.
Can you program a whammy to slowly go from 0 to +12 or does it go from 0 to +12 instantly?
Can you program an expression pedal to do this? Thanks bro
I think you just answered your own question!
Omg! Thank you so much for this!
Graat video!! I need an exact video like this but for my Axe fx 2 XL
I assume that the process would be extremely similar!
@@KeyanHoushmandLive I will give it a try. Thanks mate! Keep up the great work. Love from Perth 🤙🏻🤘
Dude your awesome!
I requested this. U legend aha

Yes, that’s exactly right!
@@KeyanHoushmandLive great! Thanks again.
YES! Do you only use reaper for live and still fl for recording ?

Yes! That’s exactly right, just run MIDI through the DIN ports on the mixer straight to the QC

Dang brooo, that hint at the new trackkk 😩
;)
does this work the same for all multi effect pedals?
Quad Cortex gang rise up 🙌🏻

Necesito hacer esto pero en protools, no tengo ni idea de como hacerlo :/
Does this only work on the Quad Cortex or does this also work on other modelers?
:'( can you also make a video for pitch shifter if you dont have the actual pedal?
AH, you're using Reaper. Dang good DAW, use it myself :)
where's the new song keyan
So basically this is automation for the quad cortex?

New song when?
Q2 2024
How do you get the song in your ear
If only I had a QC lol
"or when I need the tuna to pop up"
boh a me non funziona
I think imma just download reaper instead of trying to learn this logic lol
that's actually pretty easy ;D
Wanted to switch from Fractal to QC, but after seeing this... no thanks. On Fractal I simply right click and select the controller... and that's it.
