For folks who also play acoustic, this would be a nice way to use IRs and not have the limitation of using an empty IR in the dual IR block to achieve a 50/50 blend with a acoustic guitar IR. Now you could have all sorts of blends on the fly more easily with an expression pedal.
After playing for 41 years, I really need one of these. It does look comfortable and I am sure the finishing will last. The color of the sofa suits my room perfectly. I will get the quad cortex as well if they sell it as a package.
I dont quite understand why the plugin blend adds so much highend? even in a empty patch the plugin blend drastically changes the di tone when at 100% while it should sound the same shouldnt it?
Does the Plugin blend introduce a sort of phase difference in your signal path? If you have it at 100% from the In1, then the signal starts at the plugin blend, no? And if it is at 50%, "half" of your signal starts at In1 and half at the plugin blend. Or am i out and sailing in a desert?
Can someone explain the difference here? I think I’m missing something… so with plugin blend it compresses the signal on the wet side so you only want effects after and less desirable for amps, and for transparent it is better if you are putting the blend before an amp (for effects before the amp) because it is less compressed and EQ’d? Don’t understand what the difference is here
The Transparent Blend doesn’t apply any EQ or Compression to the processed signal. The Plugin Blend applies EQ and compression to the signal, replicating the behavior of the Blend knobs you can find in our plugins like Archetype: Plini X. This EQ and compression is needed to achieve acoustic sims tones effortlessly.
Does Quad Cortex compensate latency to avoid phase issues? Helix and other modelers have a lot of issues with this when using parallel processing. Even worse when blending FX loop signals that go through DA AD conversions. It would be as easy as matching the delay on the "out of the block / parallel thru" signal before blending, but they don't fix it!! Same thing DAWs do with latency compensation! As long as external pedals are analog (and thus not adding their own latency), it should easily work!!
@@samaitcheson7057 Not sure we're talking about the same thing. Phase/polarity (180°) flipping is a different thing. It won't fix parallel latecy missmatch issues. We're talking about very small sample/ms latencies, which create comb filtering an frequency cancellations in different parts of the spectrum. Flipping polarity only "moves" this problems in block (together) to a predefined distance. Might fix some issues but will bring others. I might be wrong, though. I presumed you refered to that.
I understand what you mean exactly. Owning a QC, yes, it appears that parallel signal chains are delayed to match up with the most DSP heavy signal paths to avoid phase/combing issues. I haven’t heard combing yet.
Is anybody besides me asking how this is any different than merging a clean duplicate input between two blocks, which we’ve had for some time? I suppose this is simpler from a visual perspective, but…
Still wish 3.0 would have brought a more realistic UI update to be able to better tell what type of devices are on your signal chain. I think it would bring a new audience to the Cortex. Still looks like a cool update though 👍🏻
This is a true utility feature. So useful. I'm still glad I'm a QC owner.
This is going to simplify my legacy patches! Ty!
So freakin excited let’s go! 🔥 can’t wait to update! 🤘🏻
This is going to be very useful when we get parallax support for bass. The DI’s low end would just pop off with the parallax’s high end!❤
I can see how this device could save loads of routing / processing, very cool!

Have been thinking the same thing- looking forward to trying!
very useful additions! 🙂
Fantastic!
Wow, that is great 🎉
Oh my God, millions of possibilities😊

This is a fabulous feature I used to love with my Kemper. Letting just a piece of raw signal thru helps the feel so much.

Which free plugin should I get? I have Nolly and parallax.. I’m thinking either Cory Wong, Rebea or tone king….

@@NeuralDSPI still don‘t understand… Where can I set the parameters of eq or compressor? Transparent- and Plugin-Variants seem to have identical UIs.
Did you guys ever think about making the undo button not close out the parameter screen while you're working on it
What's "Plug-in Blend"? I only saw Transparent Blend in this video. Did I miss something?

You'll find phase options in QC

You only get two splits/merges. This is in addition to that
@@Ultima2876 good info. I didn’t know that. Now I understand it more.
The blend is a plug-in? Do we need to purchase it?
No it is included in the new update

I think the icons are pretty clear and the colour coding easy to make out on stage. 🤷♂️
@@deepestpurple agreed. No issues with the UI really, it's nice and simple
Yeah, no
The UI is just fine.
If you want graphics, get a Headrush or the Fender thing. If you care more about the sound, get the QC.
Gracias
Super sick
