It's crazy how many comments I'm reading from people who haven't the slightest clue what they're talking about. I used to be a skeptic as well in regard to the QC, but at least now I can admit it's NOT rubbish and is actually incredibly useful and good sounding once you get into amp capturing.
Sounds identical to me. I'd be really interested to see a null test -- run the same DI through both, record them, time align, flip phase, and see what's left.
I don't own a quad cortex, but I love the fact that you do this "quick check" on the update. Still very interesting for everybody who is still thinking about buying one. Right now I "have" to choose between a quad cortex and a line6 helix lt.

Especially since the advent of gapless switching. It was my one gripe with my FM9 and I used to have to make scenes to work around that small gap. No more!!!!

I'm picking up guitar again after 20 years and have decided to ditch amps. I'm a big nerd so I love all the computer-ended stuff but I have to wonder how the hell people without a background in computer science get on with it all , or maybe that's just how music production hardware has always been and it's just in pedals now instead of computers. I've just said sod it for now and I'm using a Boss IR2 and aHeadrush. Can't imagine bothering to get the full stacks I lusted after as a kid.
To me, the QC sounds a tiny bit brighter and tighter, but the PC sounds a little more open and full. But…I mean, like a 1% difference. Not a huge deal or a problem.
Noob question here but can a quad cortex be used a your midi interface? And does it have a built in noise gate? For 1600 bux, I’d like to think so but u never know
I’m pretty sure you can send Midi to it, but I don’t think it is like an UA Apollo Twin X. I haven’t gotten a chance to try out the Quad Cortex or Fender Tone Master Pro yet. I’m still new to Guitar. I can do drums, I can do Synths/Keyboards, but Guitar is harder than it looks. It doesn’t help that I have a tendon injury that affects my left pinky and ring finger.

@@rlm4471 I'm the exact opposite. I tweak parameters for 1-2 hours per preset and absolutely love it. After a few months of writing I build another one just for fun. I could never go back to a 3 band EQ, because nothing kills my creativity more than having bare-minimum limitations. Most of my tube amps sold for 3 times what I paid, LOL.

That's all amps are tbh; 3 band EQs with capacitors/resisters to set the parameters for specific frequencies. If you put a PEQ before the 3 band (for gain structure), then a 10 band after the 3, your tonal capabilities are vast.

Nothing against modelling but every company seems to start from scratch and then build the same amps and cabs as the last device like how many duplicates of modded JCM800s and V30 cabs do I need in my studio? Are people really spending money on yet another 5150 plugin, another Marshall style crunch and another Fender clean. Same goes for those Synergy pre-amps. The same 3 tones over and over. At least Line6 is starting to model a few weird and unobtainable amps and some people in the Kemper community are doing their own profiles of vintage stuff but with the cabinet and mic placement baked in.

When I stopped to test all of Quad's amplifiers, I found them all to be the same, just changing the equalization frequencies.
