It's unreal how much seeing 1 thick riff video per week inspires me to write more riffs! Not that his skill is better, or tools, it's just hearing something creatively unique and knowing I can spin a small section into my own that will eventually turn out completely unique as well. Just like musicians have been doing forever. We don't steal.... we borrow from the collective creative continous. Keep up with the awesome riffs! 🤘
Excuse me, we're metal guitarists, we only play in the key of the open low string. If you want to play in a different key you use a pitch shifter, no barre chords allowed!
By far and away my favorite riff you’ve ever put together for a Thick Riff Thursday, please iterate on it and make it a full song. This one is special, it hits so very different.
Right there with you! What sort of subgenre would you call this type of composition? I love this style but don’t know much about the prog, metal, melodic, etc scene
@@christianholden1859 I’ve never tried to keep up with genres, there’s elements to appreciate in all of them but it’s all metal to me :) Riff faintly reminded me of Brothers in Arms by For the Fallen Dreams and then early Periphery and Erra.
I love that your quad cortex video is not like everyone elses. You did show how to integrate the new features but rolled it right into a thick riff Thursday. And wrote a sick ass riff by the way. Great video man.
Amazing watching how fast you add parts, splices, takes etc etc into your mix....can tell you've done this a lot. Just got a quad cortex on order today and found your video getting ready for it to arrive : )
You can double tap a block to turn them on/off. I’m glad you’re stoked on the QC! It’s so fun making presets while experimenting with cloud captures and all the goodies that come stock. Another bangin’ riff btw 🤘
13:38 Oh heck yeah dude I've got a similar unit (ME-25) and I still love it. It's my first multi-effects processor and it still is the only thing that I use to get low-latency audio on Ableton for recording lol. Loved the episode as usual Nick! Keep it up dude!
This is probably my favorite riff you’ve done so far and I’m not typically into this style anymore and higher tuning anymore. The way u can dial in the tones, write the riff, program drums and bass all in a few hours is insane! It’d take me weeks to be able to do something half as good as this 😂 Be awesome to do a drop D1 deathcore/slam type riff/breakdown soon!
Glad you jumped on the QC train! I’m updating mine as I watch this. That riff is sick!! Loving where it’s going. Would love to hear a Plini clean breakdown in the middle! 🤘🏻
Love my QC as well but where I'm stuck is when I want to change the tone/signal chain in the middle of a recording session. You'd have to reamp which takes time. That's the nice thing about using the plugins, switching profiles and tones is a breeze and saves not having to reamp all the time. Helix has the Native app which worked great. Is there a way to work in a similar fashion on the QC in studio? LOOOOVE THICK RRRRifffff RIIFDays!!.
i noticed how sick the neural dsp gate was when I was messing around with Nolly X a couple days ago lol also he transpose was so needed for the plugin in for me
This one's definitely gotta turn into a full song. Sounds like it's in a major key maybe major sounding notes? Either way I really like it and I'm hearing next parts in my brain that I think would sound sick
Brother, I know I've been annoying you with Milton cleans for a while now, but I know Monuments/Fell Silent/TesseracT fans wanna hear those! Pieao guitar or one with a single coil on the neck, no IR, very clean amp with no bass, a slight chorus, massive reverb with an almost unending tail, a bit of octave up on a massive delay and you should be there! By the way, if you've never listened to Fell Silent, I know the singing is not for everyone, but some of these riffs are gold! Cheers, and as always, great episode! QC seems like a great tool, can't wait to stop being poor and grab one ahaha 😘
Hi... I'm new here, but I suggest THIS CHAPTER'S RIFF ( THICK RIFF THURSDAY EP 68's RIFF ) should be the ENDING SESSION of the song of BAD HABITTS ( THICK RIFF THURSDAY 60 EP )... like... right AFTER that "romantic ish" delay RIFF... working as a DREAM THEATER ISH "fade out riff"...
I will buy one when all the plug-ins are all available not with a promise of updates ….been stung. Too many times with the promise of an update takes too long. Love my plug-ins just love them.

Guys....next week is gonna be THICC RIFF 69...We are gonna be in for a banger
Looking forward to some *tasty licks*

Nice
I love me some PHAT ASS riffs and breakdowns

Absolutely love to hear it 🤘
Your space is cozy af. Literally so inspiring to work in there.
Thanks dude!

Very much wish this was a full song that I could blast immediately.
The lead guitar reminds me a lot of Corelia ... such a great vid dude !
Well son of a birch he’s done it. The man got a quad cortex! Stoked for ya
Please make more videos like this. Recording with the quad cortex is really inspiring
Mannn, this is one of my favorite riffs of yours yet. Would love to heard a full song of this
sofa king good Nick - Thursdays are always something to look forward to, but this Sir, is a cut above the rest. Looking forward to next Thursday \../
Damn thats is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Full song release is definitely needed!!
Thanks Manny! 🤘
One of my top 5 (top 3?!?) favorite thick riffs to date.
This has been one of the best episodes in ages. Love how inspired you were
Neural DSP is always on point! Love your writing process, keep up the thicc riffs 🔥🤘🏻
I get heavy Scarlett vibes, love it dude. Keep riffin’!
Oh my God those chord voicings are amazing

Yup. That riffage makes me want to go back and listen to Corelia and Haunted Shores now. Great stuff.
Love the longer vids brother
love this riffage!
🔥🔥🔥
🫶
Such a great riff, man! Gives me Napoleon vibes.
endless noodles - comes up with instant classic . nice man.
Adding in those cymbals took this riff to another level
That riff with the heavy delay reminds me of a band called It Prevails. So much delay, I love it!
wake up honey, trt dropped
Went from a Helix to a QC myself and just absolutely love the thing. I already had Neural plugins and man it is amazing that we can integrate now.
hell yeaah, dude its awesome!

spot on! melodic hardcore vibes here, much like Napoleon!
That's what I was thinking too. Some Haunted Shores in there for sure
@@trevorwhatever2050 indeed! :)
That riff at 7:18 sounded like Loathe, I would love to hear you record a track in that vein.
Almost like old periphery/polaris riff. So cool. Wish I could dial in my tones this well
I'm behind on TRT but dang this video has me so dang inspired, this riff slaps and the lead line just pushes it to the next level!
oh yeah this one is going on the album
i noticed how sick the neural dsp gate was when I was messing around with Nolly X a couple days ago lol also he transpose was so needed for the plugin in for me
Ohh my... what a nice stu you have!
the QC is beautiful nick
What a riff, goddang
I wouldn't be surprised if the Gate from the plugins had a "key input" that gates against the DI signal similar to the decimator or zuul.
The neural plugin gate is also my favourite!
Dude I love my QC so much. Glad you got one!
"We're not gonna talk about that one" had me dying 😂
That gate is sic!!!
Been not so patiently waiting for the quad cortext update
super big early mark from periphery vibes haha SUPER BIG AWESOME DUDE

this has to be one of my fav riffs from trt

u could go into a halftime breakdown version of the riff and let the lead decay over it👑 also we need an full song of this pls
Neural DSP is crushing it this year.
Strong early Napoleon vibes on this one!
too good🎉
Sounds like a MIsery Signals riff for sure
That gate is the best gate Iv ever messed with in high gain land.
100% ture, the neural dsp plugin gates are so sick and smart
13:05 I actually ONLY want to talk about that one 😅
Dude I’ve always thought the same thing about the neural dsp gate. My other sims don’t have nearly the quality gate.
New space looks so pretty it almost looks green screened in lol
One of the best thick riffs in a while.
I agree on that statement about the regular plugin gate. I just prefer it to all the other pedal gates in their plugins🤷♂
Season 2 merch soon?👀
Little Nick didn’t know how to take the easy way out and play triads 😂😂
the toans is immaculate 🗿
can't wait to update mine!
Also, mad Veil of Maya vibes of that riffage! sick!
Don't forget to grab Cortex Control so you can dial in via your PC, speeds up the workflow massively!
I knowwwww but I like buttons 🎛️🤏🤓
@@nickbroomhallmusic The clicks do feel very nice!
You should throw some of these tones on Cortex Cloud.... So that I can steal them! 😅
I definitely will soon!
hey man have you tried playing the qc throug an amp in a band setting ?? i cant get enough volume out of this thing without it clipping :( help!!!
Which sound is more inspiring FM9 or Quad Cortex? I still can't decide which one to get. Thanks!
Love to see a Moog synth in the setup! How long have you had it?
Couple months now! It's been so much fun. Definitely gotta start using it in some vids
Day 01 of asking Nick to upload those tones to the cortex cloud 😂
sick af, they need to put the omega on there and then i'll be set!
major Belmont vibes
Simply incredible! That spacey delay is heavenly..
What guitar is that Nick? Those pickups sound unreal.
It's a Kiesel DC600 with Kiesel Lithium pickups!
Can't wait till they put nolly x on the QC
What pickups are in that guitar? Sounded like Drop C? What strings out of curiosity?
Will you post the rhythm tone on Cortex Cloud?
They’re kiesel lithiums! I’m in drop C# using daddario’s
And yeah, I’ll definitely post some tones soon!

Do you need to Buy the Plug In's or are they Included inside the Quad Cortex?
It's giving Omega by Periphery vibes
PLEASE give us a ground up break down of your drums.
