I guess if you put down paving bricks, you need sand underneath and obviously geotextile fabric to stop weeds growing up through them. Slurry is fine, it's got a high water content, and some nitrogen and phosphorus calcium etc if it's spread using trailing shoe method..instead of the splash plate, there is less of a smell...less nitrogen and ammonia lost to the air too
