I had pelvic floor issues from the age of 13. The first time I brought it up to a gynaecologist, at the age of 19, she said that I must have been sexually abused as a child! I was definitely not, but that shook me up for weeks afterwards. Months later, I found an article about how many athletic teenage girls had severe pelvic floor problems just like mine. I was a cross country runner from 13-17. I went to see a pelvic floor therapist this past spring and almost completely resolved my issues in 8 weeks of treatment. My only regret is not going as a teenager. On my high school cross country team, we used to joke about how peeing yourself during a race was a sign you were working your hardest! No one ever talked to us about pelvic floor problems, despite all of us being inherently high risk, given our age and activity level. Please, if you are having these problems, go to pelvic floor therapy. It was very scary to begin but I saw results unlike anything I've ever seen from other medical treatment. It's like magic!

It is soooo ridiculous to me that adults can't figure out that we can NOT change sex. The warning should read - Damage your body at your own risk. - If you are lucky enough to have been born with a healthy body...don't muck it up. You WILL be sorry.

You aren't alone. Sometime in my late 20s my moods went nuts. I blamed it on stress. One morning, age 32, woke up with a burning scalp, very oily, and the hair loss became more rapid, monthly cycle went nuts as well as flow, increase in facial hair. Dr blamed it all on perimenopause. Doctor after doctor and no answers or treatment that fixed any of it. Labs showed testosterone through the roof, way too high for a woman. Put on various BC pills to try to regulate, was put on Metformin in an attempt to lower testosterone and another drug I can't remember the name of that gave me horrible nerve pain. Nothing worked. One endo told me to lose weight and get some Rogaine in such a dismissive tone I didn't go to another doctor for years. Depression, anxiety, painful gritty dry eyes, vertigo, incontinence, high blood pressure, palpitations, rage and more rage, crippling anxiety. For a few years I had back-to-back hot flashes with no relief. Tried various OTC estrogen and progesterone creams with some success, but not complete relief. In my late 40s I had to brave going to a Dr again due to abdominal pain which led to imaging, that's when we found in addition to a bum ovary there is also an adrenal tumor. However, Dr won't operate to remove because it isn't big enough to be considered "active" even though I have all the symptoms of it being active and a 24 hr urine test was one point above "normal range" so obviously something is going on there. Other than that Drs still don't know what to do with me. Suffering continues. Now in my 50s I should be through menopause, but I'm not. Things have slowed down, but not stopped. Incontinence, hair loss, depression, anxiety, hopelessness, dry eyes, migraines, vertigo and more have gotten worse, but the rage has improved, hot flashes have ended, and the libido has pretty much disappeared other than a rare moment here and there that always takes me by surprise.

Truly remarkable that they aren't following up w/ detransitioners - because depending on the individual they may very well have caused lifelong challenges. But again, if someone has an issue with what their original clinic did to them most likely they will never want to get care from a group of doctors who are SO pro-transition but actually do not care or know about the long-term physical harm they are causing in many cases.

I was trans identifying years ago and was started on testosterone. I stopped T for a few reasons. I found out about IM scarring (guaranteed 100% happens every time development of scar tissue in muscle from an injection). This wasn’t a side effect of the treatment that was explained to me from the outset. It came up by accident or I heard it somewhere and asked my nurse and she confirmed, with surprise as if it was an obvious fact. Well i am not a scientist or doctor so it wasn’t obvious. I thought about how this would be affecting me. T injections are big, and inject a lot of material, and are notoriously painful and difficult. How does that compare to something like a vaccine??? And the frequency for a vaccine is anywhere from 1x a year to once every 10 years to every couple years a few times then never again. T gets injected every week or two. I realized if I kept going with this I would be damaging myself over and over again for the rest of my life, and because the T would ruin my female gonads I would be stuck on it. This insidious scar tissue making thing. Then I developed a vasovagal reaction to the injections and just had to stop. On top of all those revelations and difficulties, I also had vivid and violent suicidal thoughts that began shortly after starting T and ended when I discontinued T. I’ve known people who stopped T due to hair loss. I lost some hair at first but it grew back in. One person I knew on social media discontinued their very popular instagram account after realizing they were balding. I guess that she stopped because she couldn’t handle the potential shame and lash back of discontinuing “HRT”.

Man here. 10 years pelvic floor injury/dysfunction from age 24-34. If everyone really knew and understood the issues that can arise from this problem, the amount of people volunteering for it would drastically reduce. Unfortunately it seems like people have to experience it to really know. If anyone is reading this or watching the video and think it's no big deal, please think again. This is a very serious issue that needs to be taken way more seriously. Men and ladies out there; do whatever you can to avoid these issues. Find a doctor or therapist that will help you. Don't take no for an answer. Keep fighting.
Edit: For the men. In my area, I had to seek out a therapist that was primarily focused and advertised for womens issues. It was rarer, but I wasn't the first to seek her help for male pelvic issues. Ask those people if they can help you too. Despite sex differences, a lot of the advice given to women can help you too.

Yessss. And pelvic floor health is _really_ important for older men. For some weird reason I had read about it when my dad needed surgery for prostate cancer some 20+ years ago. I was his medical support person, and while this was mentioned in passing in the preparations for the surgery it wasn't really IMO emphasised enough. I nagged him relentlessly about doing some simple exercises every day leading up to the prostatectomy. And take some credit for the fact that he was continent for about 5 years after surgery (then it started to fail, maybe the severe Parkinson, maybe just old age, who knows).

Add every male who has "the surgery" (any version of it)-they will have pelvic floor dysfunction as well. For many it's immediate, for others it will show up as they age. Incontinence is inevitable. Those who make it to old age will have a very difficult time... As will their caretakers. People who market this dare to speak of dignity and saving lives... harming a human being in this way is antithetical to the concept of dignity.

This was awesome, thank you ladies. I'm 55, postmenopausal and thankfully still have a strong pelvic floor and sex drive. One important point though, you didn't cover the importance of correct nutrition. Too many women eat a plant based diet, missing out on nutrients essential for brain and hormonal health. The science is clear, there are essential nutrients in meat you cannot get from plants, and all nutrients are more bioavailable from animal products than from plant products. Many mental health issues, including the rise in anxiety, are just nutrient deficiencies, there are some great studies being done on this at the moment but they're not talked about in the mainstream. Cholesterol is also essential yet has been incorrectly (deliberately?) villainised. Plant sterols block our production of cholesterol, which is essential for brain and hormone health. Worse, too many post menopausal women are on statins, artificially lowering their cholesterol and destroying their mental and physical health for no reason.

Holistic nutritionist here and plant-based diets do provide all vitamins and minerals. Animals that are eaten by humans get the nutrients in their flesh from plants too. The body naturally produces cholesterol and plants do NOT block healthy cholesterol levels in those who eat a plant-based diet. Also, the quality of meat matters. Most people are eating factory farmed flesh filled with GMO crops, animal by-products (cannibalized flesh), antibiotics, and hormones. Definitely not healthy for anyone! Plants that are grown organically in healthy microbiome soils are also more nutrient dense than plants grown in dead soils. Please educate yourself on blue zones and cultures that live the longest with the least amount of health issues in senior years-- plants and algaes make up the majority of their diets.

In the end my coach asked a good physio friend and he said that brace is extremely important - if you don't 'cap off' your brace at the bottom everything you're pushing with is just forced downward and puts too much pressure on your pelvic floor. I sorted my technique and the issue left me. I also brace differently when I sneeze now!! This was 9 yrs post c section, no previous issues with leaking. I felt like I was going mad!

Sasha and Stella, you are guiding lights in these dark times facing youth.
I remember seeing Sasha’s first few interviews with Benjamin Boyce, great to see all that you’ve done and continue to do for kids and parents.
I’ve been in the adolescent mental health field for over 20 years, currently at a kid’s hospital in Canada since 2018. The rise in mental health admissions and increase in acuity of these concerns has been harrowing. Barely any acknowledgement of these trends, especially in Canada.
The failed pandemic policies re: kids that worsened the youth MH crisis, this gender ideology and the treatments/surgeries being pushed on youth, the victimhood identities being encouraged: it’s hard to believe how badly we are failing kids in the name of “compassion and DEI”.
Increasingly, it feels like parents and adults who work with kids are primarily concerned with being a friend and peer to the kids. So many so-called “adults” who are afraid to ever impose authority/boundaries/structure/discipline.
I think many of us in this field can see how lost the youth feel when there are no authorities in their lives. It’s hard for kids to articulate this issue but some of the older kids I work with remark on how “it feels like there aren’t any adults around”.
It makes me all the more thrilled to see folks like you both who are standing up against the ideologues who have been bullying and causing harm with little push back. And I hope more adults will follow the example that you ladies set with these videos. Many thanks 🙏🏼 😊

@@biancawilloughby9980 I'm sorry if this sounds accusatory in any way, but what does trans friendly mean? I've had a wide variety of experiences with healthcare practitioners so I don't doubt there are good and bad ones. I do believe that health care providers need to be able to talk about female bodies and have knowledge of the effects of cross sex hormones so they can provide accurate and informed healthcare. Because we are where we are, we need to respond to the situation as it is, not how we think it *should* be. There are definitely some professionals who haven't exercised a duty of care in informing people who choose this path of all the issues that can occur. The problem is, cognitive dissonance between that reality and what is wished for are never going to be compatible. How do we address this while providing a high standard of care for the bodies of trans identifying people?

    • @meretriciousinsolent
      @meretriciousinsolent 3 месяца назад +13

I should probably also note the fact that the problems your body is facing aren't the same as the ones a trans identifying female bodied person would have. (I had to check by rereading your post whether you were that and now realise you aren't.)
I'm also curious about the impact of oestrogen on the male body pelvic floor, I hope there's similar research being done on that. As I understand it testosterone is a much stronger hormone in terms of its permanent effects than oestrogen but I'm happy to be corrected with some good evidence.

A lot of kids are being taught to identify and recognize signs of gender non-conformity as being signs of trans. They're not just self diagnosing but also diagnosing each other and the next thing they know, they're in an after school LGBTQ support group and they're solidifying their new identity before a parent or doctor has even heard about it. Once they've had it reinforced by their new "friends/community" it can be hard to go back, particularly when they've often been trained to defend their position by other kids.
It's one of the consequences of introducing gender ideology in schools.

Here in Canada it's a huge problem. One of my clients ( I'm a tattoo artist) identifies as male, she is autistic, had severe development issues as a child ( I know because I know her mom) and at 18 she found out on internet that her feeling of emptiness could be because she's in the wrong body. She met a therapist once and was given hormones right then, and 6 months later had her breasts amputated and nipples modified. She is having a hysterectomy soon and wants to pursue the rest of the gruesome surgeries of " reassignment".
One thing I learned recently and totally blew my mind is that she is legally not considered cognitively able to manage her own money, so she has a legal financial guardian, as an adult, who manages her money and she needs to ask permission to that person for everything, but at the same time she was hired as a.. YOUTH THERAPIST at a community center that's publicly financed 😨🤯

I was watching a vlog by a trans woman recently, and they said something to suggest they believed their transition was completed, and I remember thinking, _but you're taking testosterone every week to coerce your body into behaving a bit like a male body. If you stop taking it your body will try and go back to it's natural processes, which are female._ There's no such thing as an "end" to the transition when your body isnt going to behave like it's the opposite sex without constant intervention. It's something you have to try and force into reality constantly, like a daily battle with your body.

    • @synthia2625
      @synthia2625 Месяц назад

That's way too oversimplified. There is more to this that most discourse NEVER mention, and I am very disappointed in all "sides" on RUclips. I've spent a lot of time on detransition forums, trying to figure things out and see others' experiences, and it is very obvious (also based on research that has nothing to do with transgender people) that most people's brains are biologically wired to function only with the sex hormone levels of one biological sex. Typically, biological females have all their mental and emotional faculties decline drastically when their hormone levels are altered to male levels, and biological males experience significant cognitive and emotional decline when their testosterone levels are not up to normal male ranges. A good number of detransitioners talk about how their brain just stopped working no matter what they did, after going on cross-sex hormones, even though they firmly believed they were doing the right thing. Then, when they reverted back to their biological hormonal profile, all the brain fog, mental, and emotional erosion suddenly cleared away and their qualities of life drastically improve. They are able to think clearly again. The world is vivid and real again. They are able to connect with themselves and others again. There's finally depth, and soul, to everything.
However, a very significant number of people experience the exact opposite, and I don't believe it's based on how you psychologically perceive your gender or think your body should be at all. They undergo significant, pervasive cognitive decline since the start of puberty, have persistent brain fog and abnormally low processing speed, and are unable to think fast or deep, perceive anything remotely vividly, or empathize with people like they used to, no matter how hard they try to fake it. And it only gets worse, you start struggling to learn things you know you would've found easy. These may be symptoms of mental health issues, but for some it is clearly not, and their mental state and feeling of wellbeing is already much less bad than before at this stage. With a brain like this, you feel like you're unable to perceive, process, or experience anything properly anymore, and you can't live anything remotely close to what you could call a "life". For these people, psych meds hardly help, having a positive emotional state doesn't change it, and their hormonal levels are all normal and healthy for their biological sex. But they experience the opposite, and only going on cross-sex hormones fixes it... completely, from the time the first dose changes the levels in your blood, it's as if all those years of mental decline reversed. Some of these people don't psychologically identify with the opposite birth sex at all, or want to differentiate themselves from their birth sex. A small minority even hate and feel disgusted at the physical changes of the hormones. And they try to stop cross-sex hormones safely and detransition, but as soon as their levels get out of the range for the opposite sex, all their cognitive dysfunction return, and it's a state few people would be willing to spend the rest of their lives in. I personally know quite a few people who have had to put up with taking cross-sex hormones indefinitely, when they don't feel inclined to identify or live or dress as another gender. Myself somewhat included, after a lot of struggle.
Personally, I can't really identify as trans, and I disagree with offering gender dysphoria as a first-line or even second-line explanation for psychological struggles, especially for children and teens. A lot of it is more likely than not trauma-related, although this does not prove that one would not need cross-sex hormones for proper mental function. Personally, my identity has been extremely fucked up by early childhood trauma. I feel more like my birth sex and never wanted the physical changes of transition a good minority of the time, a good minority of the time I don't think about anything to do with gender or my body at all, and another good minority of the time, I can't put up with being my birth sex in any way. But none of these more than daily drastic changes in self-perception and narrative have affected my mental functioning on vs off cross-sex hormones. My processing speed literally dropped 10 percentile relative to people my age after puberty, when I took the same professional cognitive assessment and scored around the same on other aspects. The difference is extremely drastic.
I really, really think a lot more needs to be done to understand and provide medical options for this phenomenon, which isn't rare, and cannot be determined based on whether one meets the current definitions of "gender dysphoria" or being transgender. This has nothing to do with whether one is masculine or feminine, how one likes to dress, or supporting the notion of a "true self" regarding gender. But it seriously affects the quality of life of many people who seem to be biologically unfortunate, such as myself. We cannot deny people access to cross-sex hormones based on the argument that they don't actually fit the definition of gender dysphoria, or that the entire basis of "gender ideology" is false and no one needs these interventions. I think it's time to stop solely looking through, or against, mainstream narratives surrounding "gender identity" when thinking about cross-sex hormones. Some people do need them, and it would be much better if they could have them at a younger age and not waste years of teenagehood and youth being mentally lobotomized, but not for the reasons any mainstream opinions are trying to sell. But it is also no more, and no less, than any other long-term medication that some people need to achieve normal biological functioning, which could be life-changing, while others would lose proper functioning if they took it. People should see it for what it is and consider the benefits and harms of everything it entails if they want to consider the option.
I just want to bring more critically lacking nuance because I have seen and experienced how much more it entails than people talked about.

I am a transgender person myself. By the meaning: "Transgenderism: A person who has significant difficulty to adapt to the role expected by biological sex. Because -
Because the person feels that he or she belongs entirely or partially to the opposite gender."
That feeling inside that one has affiliation to the opposite sex.
I was referred to a gender specialist.
I wanted to discuss how difficult this is in everyday social life in relation to other people.
The specialized therapist offered me as much testosterone and surgery as I wanted.
Everything was paid for by the health insurance company. Phallo plastic and everything.
I was offered this in the first hour - without me asking about testosterone.
    That is what's happening...
When I refused to take testosteron I was kicked out of therapy and called transphobic

@drrocktopus5137 It was the first time in 2012.
It took me years to get over this invalidation.
Then, I let myself be persuaded to seek help again. Another therapist would understand that not all trans people are the same and that there is a spectrum. I thought that could be true. But the next therapist was even worse.
I went to the second therapist, in 2022. As soon as I came in, I was greeted by Mr. (name). again I was immediately offered hormones and surgery.
When I didn't accept that, she said that trans people want hormones and surgery and if I don't want that, then I'm not trans. She doesn't know what other mental disorder I have.
However, she only accepts people who are transitioning.
Because she is specialized in that.

"A woman health issue that we are just ignoring "
Yes I can agree on this.
I found out why this is happening so commonly.
We have lived in a social organization of patriarchy for centuries.
I experienced a cultural impact that was matriarchal.
At ceremonies of native Americans, intertribal gatherings.
They discussed on a daily basis women's issues like
    Menstruation cramps and what helps.
    (Hot steam - for example)
It was openly talked that women go through difficult life situations. Things were addressed that are never talked in patricrchal social structures...
As well the women spend some time only among themselves.
To speak also more intimate affairs who one of the women might have. To support each other.
    Also, to share female perspectives.
    No men are allowed
    when women spend time together.
It is not that long. It is in the morning when the women prepare the food together, about 1 hour.
Women have a completely different status in communities that are matriarchally inspired.
In patriarchy, I often hear from women - I have to be a man to keep up in the job market.
As I said in this other environment, many women's health issues were discussed openly. Or other more intimate ones among the women.

Chanced upon this, and took a look as my wife's step-granddaughter (who I reckon has some mental-health issues) has decided she's a boy. What's revealed here is truly shocking - but presented in an engaging manner (if a bit ghoulishly fascinating). It is also a source of wonder how what is perfectly natural and balanced in a male body is so deleterious in a female (and presumably vice versa). It was also fascinating to me as a man to hear what the initial impact of testosterone on a woman is, with the sort of heady euphoria - I'd never have thought of this. Understanding hormones better should help ease the puzzlement that men and women sometimes feel at each other.

As a teen cis-female, my mom's OB-GYN diagnosed my bad acne as coming from a higher than normal level of testosterone, and he proscribe birth control pills to control the acne, which was effective on the acne, but because I could not manage to take my pills exactly 24 hours apart every day, it really messed up the timing of my periods, and he told me that I should not rely on the Pill for birth control, because if not taken absolutely regularly, it can make pregnancy more likely than if you were not using the pill at all. It also made my periods more painful. I decided the "cure" was worse than the acne, and went off the Pill with less than a year on it, and have never gone back, nor have I ever regretted not taking any hormones. I used two simultaneous barrier methods for birth control instead, far more successfully. I am a more androgynous woman; I had dark fine downy facial hair that I was ashamed of as a teen, and I tried to shave it off, which was the worst mistake I ever made, because it just made the hairs look courser and darker when they grew back, and condemned me to shaving my face for life. The societal pressures to fit either a masculine stereotype or a feminine stereotype are very hard on young people, and can force them to do desperate things to try to conform to expectations. If you don't want kids to get pressured into transitioning, we need to let kids know that it is okay to be anywhere along the spectrum of gender presentation from masculine to feminine, that they are perfect just the way they are born. Now that I've got the better part of six decades lived, I'm post-menopausal without ever trying to change the body I was given at birth, even though my life goals might have been easier to achieve as a male, I'm still quite happy with the body I have got, aging as it is. Also, the phenomena of very painful long-lasting cramps (hours, not days) did happen to me the few times I was stimulated to the point of having multiple orgasms one right after the other; even after I got my partner to stop the stimulation, the painful cramps did not stop for many hours, but I do not know if that is part of my having higher testosterone than most women. For the most part, by menstrual cramps and bleeding have been relatively light, as have my menopausal symptoms, so if my testosterone levels are responsible for that I am grateful for it.

She said taking testotrone cause 'fur' or a thick coating of hair lining her urethra. Years of bladder infections and overuse of antibiotics to treat her have failed. In fact her Dr. said she will die soon because her body has resistance to all antibiotics. Heartbreaking to imagine fur in your urethra. Sex is binary. Judith Butler is a philosopher, not a scientist, and her views on sex are wrong. No one gets to choose their own pronouns, and certainly no one gets to use government to compel others to use their language of choice. Gender roles and the divide between masculine and feminine are indeed, in part, socially constructed, but this is a minor insight that should not be expanded beyond it's very limited insight.
