    8:58 - "Ostrów" in the former Polish language means "overgrown river island" and the adjective "Tumski" was created from the noun "Tum", which meant "church", "cathedral". So "Ostrów Tumski" is "Cathedral Island".

    50km near Wroclaw is Swidnica. Beautiful city with attractive Old Town, UNESCO's Church of Peace (biggest wooden church in Europe) and gothic cathedral with on of the tallest towers in Poland. This town has over 750 years of merchant traditions so architecture is rich and very interesting.

    This year, Poland's Independence Day is very special, as the EU is trying to bully them as well as Hungary, Czech Republic, and Slovakia. The four countries have formed the Visegrad Alliance as a result. I for one stand in support of the people of Poland, and my prayers are with them.

    • @cpt.flamer7184
      @cpt.flamer7184 5 лет назад

      Accually Visegrad Alliance was formed in 14th century ;p King of Poland, Hungary and Czech Rep. met in city of Visegrad several times, they resolved previous issues between them and formed alliance which in fact never be broken, after those countries regain their independence in 1991 presidents have met there again to symbolically renew alliance. Presidents of those countries meets every year since then. So this alliance has almost 600 years history and not be formed as a results of some crap european politics was saying recently ;p

    Sky Tower is not the highest building in Poland.
    No1. Is Palace of Science and Culture in Warsaw 237m.
    No2. Is Warsaw Spire in Warsaw 220m.
    No3. Is Sky Tower 212m.
    Moreover, Varso Tower in Warsaw is under construction, and this building gonna have 310m.

    not sure why there is no comment section under the "katowice" vlog so I write it here...What you go for appetizer for lunch was bread with SMALEC - which is basically lard..sounds horrible but it is super tasty ;)))...Also..Maybe I am old fashioned but it is rude for a guy to wear a hat inside (especially in church but restaurant too) so if you want to blend in.. better take your hat off :) Very intrigued by Museum Slaskie - I will visit if I get the chance! Thanks for the video and enjoy!

    Guys, this is really simple. It's the the Latin alphabet and we generally use the Latin pronunciation of each character, and the pronunciation it is *always* the same, with few exceptions. So once you learn the proper sound, the proper pronunciation of a character, just keep it the same anytime you see it in a word, keep it consistent.

  • @peacefulamerican4994
    @peacefulamerican4994 6 лет назад

    Did anyone mention the story of the Polish White Eagle? Leaders Lech and Czech left (old) Croatia with respective tribes. Lech walked until one day, in the sky, appeared a white eagle. Lech, taking this as a sign from the gods, followed the eagle all day. The eagle finally landed in a nest, at sunset. Lech decided to settle this area. The name of the (now) town is Gniezno (Polish word for 'nest'). Lech and tribe are the ancestors of all ethnic Poles. The white of the Polish flag is for the eagle. The red is for the sunset. (Czech is the father of the Czech Republic).

    unfortunately there are many people specially European news calling the marches fascist march just for being patriotic, I'm sure there are probably some fascists but majority aren't.

    Poznań? Not the greatest idea. Poznań is awesome for partying, not for sightseeing and history. Anyway it’s great you love Poland, because Poland is the best.

    3:21 made me think of Fight Club :D
    Do you know that "Inez" is pretty much the only feminine name without an "a" ending in Poland? Just a fun fact :D
    Omg, this lamp thing is so cool! :O

    • @tkg__
      @tkg__ 7 лет назад +21

      Because Inez is not a Polish name. The Polish version of this name is Agnieszka. Inez/Ines -> Agnes -> Agnieszka.

    • @The0Stroy
      @The0Stroy 7 лет назад +3

      Also - it's required by law to all female names to end with "-a".

      +The0Stroy Could you show me the law that says that?

      Lmao. As "Polish name" I meant a name that you can see/hear in Poland.

    • @Marticore

      I actually didn't even say it's a Polish name

    These people who were celebrating the Independence Day were called 'nazis', 'fascists' and every single ugly name in the book by the 'main-stream media', but I don't see you being unwelcome in their midst :). You guys are GREAT and so cute :) Felicia's polish pronunciation is spot-on, Wes still has some work to do, but yet again this is one of the HARDEST languages to learn (like most of the slavic languages)

      Lysy2 What a bullshit! There were dozen of different celebrations of Independent Day, but unforunately there were also few marches organised by nationalists (Warsaw and Wroclaw - but not the one present on video) bearing in mind most of theirs postulates - there is no exaggeration in calling those idiots as fascists and neo-nazis.
      Fortunately most Poles are normal, open and tolerant people.

      @ysy662 6 лет назад +19

      'Tolerance' will bring you to the edge of extinction! Like it does in the Western Europe! Poland is to be White and Christian Land! Same way like Nigeria or Kenya are to be Black and China or Korea are to be Yellow! There is NOTHING wrong with wanting to preserve your culture and ethnicity! I hate 'tolerance', it is a suicidal bullshit for White people only and it will lead to the destruction of the most productive and curious of all humankind!

      Wojciech shut up you disgusting imbecile. You are the nazi, You are the one who is full of hate and shit at your own nation. That's disgusting. Nacjonalizm jest wartością, ale wcale nie chodzi o etnonacjonalizm więc nie porównuj nas do nazistów jełopie.

      STFU lying piece of shit. Only the Warsaw march was called like that because idiots organizing it, allowed for those signs to be there.

    • @wojciechkobylinski7021

      HAL 9000 Nie muszę was porównywać do nazistów, bo sami ubieracie się jak hitlerjugend albo ss, posługujecie się nazistowską symboliką i rasistowskimi hasłami. Skojarzenia nasuwają się same. Możesz to nazywać pokrętnie jak chcesz - „etnonacjonalizmem” czy jakkolwiek - to jest słownikowy neonazizm. Takie poglądy są w tym kraju karalne, a wy jesteście wstydem i hańbą. Moi dziadkowie z AK i BCh strzelali do takich jak wy.
