      @@karthikkrishna1439inform yourself before saying stuff like that, an olympic champion will always be an olympic champion. You Indians always talk so great of Chopra and seemingly don't even know about the sport nor the olympics. Not every single javelin post is about Neeraj Chopra, he has nothing to do with this post so just leave it out of here. He hasn't even thrown 90m yet, which Max Dehning at 19 years old did. You have over a billion residents and just one olympic champion, rubbing it under everyone's nose like your a sports nation is pathetic

    I'm 71. When I was 15, I won javelin contests against boys as old as 18. I haven't thrown since a kid, but now am getting back into it. I've signed up for a senior track meet for seniors, taking place in Utah, October 2023. I practice each evening, by throwing a long guava stick.

      @@josefkoller7087Hallo Josef, danke. Es war mein erster Leichtathletikwettkampf seit meinem 15. Lebensjahr. Bin jetzt 71.

      All the BIGGEST throws have been from the Germans, first Uwe Hohn throws 104.80m, because of this throw the javelins are changed, then Jan Zelezny Czech republic 98.48m, then Vetter, with his huge 97m, I reckon he will not only hit the 100m I'm predicting 101.34m I've been constantly dreaming this, I don't know why, but I just have this feeling VETTER will not just break the record , BUT THE FIRST MAN OVER 100M with current javelin.

    Very helpful presentation. I would only add that there is sometimes confusion about the purpose of the run-up. Its purpose is to overcome the inertia of the torso. The forward pitch of the torso and rotation of the shoulders over the block are what generate most of the power for the throw. As Thomas says, only 20% of the power is due to the arm. This is especially apparent in Zelezny's best throws.

    I don't know very much about Javelin toss or any of these athletic sports but I have begun watching several of these already. I would like to learn this so please correct me if I am blissfully ignorant of what I'm saying. It would seem to me that wind speed and other conditions would be a factor to this but wouldn't tossers prefer a specific degree of toss all the time? From a mathematical perspective, wouldn't 45 degrees be the best toss in all situations? I apologize if I'm very incorrect but I would like to learn the intricacies of this.

    • @swiggersyolo5748
      @swiggersyolo5748 7 лет назад

      Atma youre right but many people reccomend lower than that, 35ish degrees as the javelin will lift in the air and the way the back muscles are angled is very conducive to a lower angled yet still high throw, just think of pushing a car, you want to engage your back to the fullest you can not to mention your throw will get a nice boost from your run up if your legs are working from that sort of angle

    • @swiggersyolo5748
      @swiggersyolo5748 7 лет назад

      Atma also a human is a human and its difficult to achieve a perfect anything, when you are in the throw the angle at which your release point is positioned will rapidly increase in a short time so beginning the throw in a slightly angle will allow you to naturally rise towards that 44.99999 degree angle 😊

    • @atmaillumina
      @atmaillumina 7 лет назад

      Thanks for the info! Yes, I do understand what you mean... it would be difficult to get a specific angle consistently, even with practice. Even if it's in muscle memory, nerves still play a vital role in competitions along with adrenaline, mental state, the works.

    • @santeenl
      @santeenl 6 лет назад +1

      In general keep this in mind: head wind 37 degrees, normal wind 40ish degrees, tailwind 42ish degrees.
      A javelin is no ball, therefore 45 degrees is not optimal. With headwind you generally throw a little bit lower since the javelin will general more lift this way and glide longer. With back wind you can put your javelin "on top" of the wind by throwing it a tiny bit higher. 40 degrees is the generally advised angle I believe.

      Elbow injuries are common in javelin throwing, and it's mostly due to technical faults, in which the muscles aren't used correctly, therefore forcing them, which could lead to potential injuries

      Haha yep, maybe the stadium surface was not for him. Happy for my countryman Ruuskanen though. I hope they'll have a tight match in the olympics.

      We thought Rohler was going to smash it. It does set up what should be a brilliant competition in Rio!

      He had to deal with injuries prior to the competition, so he wasn't as fit as he should've been. But the Olympics totally made up for that!

    is there a reason why the throwing side foot, in his case his right foot, is not thrown forward? i don't know anything about javelin throwing just curious, it seems that you would gain more force by doing so

    • @MrKukkulaB
      @MrKukkulaB 7 лет назад

      the reason its not thrown forward is because you are using it to force yourself into your left foot or block. This causes your body to slingshot over your block, your penultimate step foot (right foot int this case) cant go forward due to it still being behind.

      Hi, I was asking myself the same thing. My guess is it's the Nike Men's Zoom Javelin Elite 2 Flywire model.

      Often it's just shown as Nike zoom javelin elite 2 (like here: www.spikeshop.nl/webshop/spikes-1/speerwerpen-22/nike-zoom-javelin-elite-2-(zwart-002)-558)
