When the Panigale 1199 came out it was groundbreaking but also gained a reputation for being twitchy, for lacking feel and being somewhat unrefined compared to the 1299 that followed. A decade later it's still a thrill to ride.

Owned my 1199 for 7 years now. Along with my Diavel, they are both keepers. Ducatista!!
Great job of describing what makes this bike so special. I find it very difficult to articulate. But one thing for sure the 1199 is my most favourite bike of all time and allot of what some people have disliked I love. Like the unruly power delivery that bucks and kicks at low rpms. Its wild and angry which makes you feel like such a boss when you have been riding it for so long you have really mastered it and can confidently open it up with all rider aids turned off so its next level wild.
Picking one up tomorrow couldn't be more excited 🙏

I was going crazy to get the 1199 when it first came out. I am so glad I waited to get the 1299 instead. The power band is a huge jump. Open the clutch instant torque. I can be full stop up hill open clutch in 2nd gear and it pulls with zero throttle. Doesn't stop all the way to red line 11K. The Ducati 1299 to this day still most powerful production V-twin !!

just got my 1199 tricolor, almost 2 weeks back, despite an leaky clutch cover(will be fixed this weekend) its just brutal.
i just cant ride it without earplugs, i like my ears too much.
where ever i ride, people are staring and cheering, asking me to rev it or doing thumbs ups
as for the "not the smartest move" such powerful bikes simply make it sooooo sooooo tempting to make alot of "not so smart" moves
Beautiful bike. I ride 2023 Panigale V4S now and love it. We should do a get together Ducati bike rider at Beverly Glen Plaza. I live just around the corner.

It is a small bike really but the seat is fairly high at 32.5". Dani Pedrosa made it look easy!
He is tall not big. The bike looks perfect.
