About One Day At A Time: Set in Indianapolis, this beloved, long-running series takes a comedic but realistic look at divorcee Ann Romano (Bonnie Franklin) and her daily struggle to find her own identity while raising her two daughters, rebellious Julie (Mackenzie Phillips), 16 when the series begins, and level-headed Barbara (Valerie Bertinelli), a year younger. Even though Ann pretends to be liberated and secure, she's always treading the line between her former, deep-rooted dependence and her newly acquired independence. Building superintendent Dwayne Schneider (Pat Harrington Jr.) helps take care of the family, while lawyer David Kane (Richard Masur) tempts Ann to reconsider her single state. Ann's priority, however, is discovering her own potentials, which includes a new career, raising her daughters, and learning more about herself and her world.

Shelley Fabares was AWESOME as Francine in this series. She should have been on a lot more. It was neatest to see her character's progression from her first appearance to their last. This scene had Bonnie's opening credit for season 7.....and she talks to someone named "Sam" on the phone.....and she married a guy named Sam in 1983?

Ann thought she was tough but she was no match for Francine.

@@timothyhh In real life, Nanette Fabray was Shelley Fabare's aunt, not her mother. Nanette Fabray did play Shelley's character Christine's mother on Coach thought.

It's amazing how in the beginning, Ann and Francine started out as nemesis, than business partners/rivals and then at the end of the series, they became very good friends
I love that Francine and Grandma Romano were real life mother and daughter.

My god Shelly is so beautiful no matter her age
Francine worked because they introduced her slowly.
That's always the best thing to do with certain characters.
