Nice video, Thanks for sharing! Please pay no attention to the haters who have likely never been out of the city, let alone put up a tent before. :) It may have taken a while to put that thing up, but it was done by one person, and a second person would have likely cut the time WAY down. I've used modern tents that you couldn't put up with only one person, and some that were just so incredibly frustrating, they were tossed in the dumpster after their first use so I would never have to deal with them again.
NEAT TENT!!! Very well done!!! Would like to know more about the design, joints, dimensions and materials!!! Simply outstanding!!! God bless!!! Chuck Knight from Buffalo, Texas, USA. 🤠🐩🖖✝️🙏
First of all... excellent video. Thanks for not playing some obnoxious music as well as not jabbering on and on with useless information. But for goodness sakes you tease use with the hint of photos of your StarGate! Shame on you for that!
Hmm. Should have labeled it Setting Up a Viking Tent. I would have liked to see how the frame was constructed and pinned together. More detail on the tie-off, plus a camera walk around and inside view. Details on the canvas construction. Didn't see how he used the tent pegs. It would have been nice to see a full setup of the interior as well. Interesting design.
It's great but the only thing is during day and night any kind of bug, rat, possum, spider or snake can crawl easily underneath, the best way is using a longer canvas starting from the bottom ground over the 2x4s covering everything, like a circle loop around the wood frame, that way the floor is protected from crawlers.
Thanks for this, very informative! I have a Viking tent, but haven't built the frame yet for it, and needed to see one set up start to finish. Also, loved the crowing battle between the roosters. lol
I think it is beautiful, thankyou, well I can think of ways to make it better faster, ect, I realize it was all about tradition wonder love it thankyou.
Man you are busting with excitement , thought if ya didn't calm down you was going to explode. if this job sucked that much than ya should have just hit the stargate
My design was probably easier to erect and was a warmer tent... get rid of the "feet" on the verge poles so the frame sits closer to the ground...I use actual saplings for the ground poles, they roll easier... lay out the frame flat with the fabric on the frame, lift the verge poles a bit to set the ends on one side, then just walk the side up and slide the front and back ground boards onto the pole ends...the fabric should wrap around the verge poles, concealing all but the top, carved heads. You can have some ties down the front slit to fasten the tent closed. When the wind blows the tent gets sturdier... no "braces", ropes, just have the peak pole about one foot shorter than the ground poles.
I was trying to see if that portal or that circular device on your property was a stargate or not. Of course it isn't, but then what is it. Nice tent. I didn't hear much traffic, heard a rooster and other birds. Must be nice. How rural are you.
It'd be alright for a playhouse in the backyard to let the children play in, but I wouldn't even dream of taking that think camping even if I could park a truck next to the site. It is just too cumbersome and heavy looking. It must be expensive to obtain and a moldy nightmare if it get wet in a storm. It is interesting to see you construct it though and I do thank you for the effort in making this video. Next!
As an architect, I would have thought the canvas would go over the frame to keep the frame dry. The rope cross braces make sense. I can see how this might be handy on a boat as it could be stowed fairly quickly. In fact it could probably be made with oars. Such a tent could also easily be moved from one place to another, several hundred feet. At a meeting or festival for instance.
Thanks for sharing! We’re in the process of looking to build one and this helped understand the structure more.
I'm way more interested in the stargate now.
www.imdb.com/name/nm0448531/ built the stargate.
i had the same
?? and where does this tell you how to build it???
About to say the same thing
This is one of the most creative shelter ideas! Thanks!
A Viking Tent and a Stargate. I wonder if he has a DeLorean in his garage?
ROTFLMBO!! Exactly right, just don't forget the flux capacitor.
Maybe he’s going camping on Cimmeria px-974
I do have a Tardis as a drinks cabinet
Man, this was from so long ago that I had to re watch it to figure out my own comment.😂
Nice video, Thanks for sharing!

Some audio description would be nice. I do like the concept. Thanks
Holly crap, I get it, the Vikings are going to come through the star gate.

Interesting design.
Practise , practise making those truckers hitches ! Nice tent !
David I think you need to do a video on how you built the Stargate!!! The crowds have spoke!!!
Great instructional video!
Especially the verbal highlights.
(he says with extreme sarcasm!!!)
Thank you for posting this. Very sound design.
I may try this soon. Seems like it would be easier with a buddy.
Thanks David , great video of the ⛺️ set-up. I like your escape plan ! Heheh 😏
Love the STAR GATE...
I just noticed the Stargate!!!! Cool!!!
Dude you have a star gate!!!!🚀
But no DHD.
Really incredible. Really enjoyed this video.

Man I absolutly need to know how you built your STARGATE in your garden ! I've always wanted to build man but dunno what materials etc... :-)
Plans for tent are at SeahamCastle.com - I have photos of the construction of the stargate - but no instructions.
Post the video ! post the video ! Who needs plans anyway ?
David Jarrett I respect your video . Thumbs up David
Thanks for this, very informative! I have a Viking tent, but haven't built the frame yet for it, and needed to see one set up start to finish.
Also, loved the crowing battle between the roosters. lol
Excellent idea simple to build...Thanks a lot...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I love the Stargate in the background. So this is what O'Neill does in his retirement...
I think it is beautiful, thankyou, well I can think of ways to make it better faster, ect, I realize it was all about tradition wonder love it thankyou.
Thank you! 😊
Nice Stargate in the background!
+Chris Gagnon he used it to travel from valhalla to show of his skillz
Your tent looks lovely and very original, but for me with a motorcycle it would not work I do like the rustic look. Nice video.Graham.
Unique! But not compact enough to fold and transport also not sealed enough.Could be improved.
Great video. But now I'm craving a chicken dinner.
Thanks...
there is a stargate on your property!!! holy crap!!!
WHAT is the "Stargate" made from/of?
Unobtainium.
Nope. Just a cheap Chinese knock-off. No warranty. Doesn't work.
Man you are busting with excitement , thought if ya didn't calm down you was going to explode. if this job sucked that much than ya should have just hit the stargate
I like the crowing sound
Want to know how to build the (hopefully) functioning StarGate in the background.
+Lance Bakore Jaffa Kree!
That's the first thing I noticed!
Rudolf Ketko Well aren't you?
its working,,, a pyramid is one one side now...
@@serch3ster Yeah, Stargate is more interesting.
Loving the Stargate.
We just ignoring the Stargate in the background? Okay then.
I like it. Not really a backpacking tent. MiF
If you would have started the line from the top...you would be able to draw the walls tighter...man that Rooster is effin loud!!!
By that time I was thankful for any commentary, even from the roster.
this guy loves his job
Dude, you have a freaking Stargate, WTF
It's awesome, but without a frame would be better, cuz sticks are ram into the ground when has pointed.
to the right of the Stargate is the Solar charger shed.... the rooster is the signal when charged.
careful NSA don't cone a-knockin
I’m the first person to notice the star gate!
Dude has a star gate!
Love the star Gate in background
Cool!
Thank you for sharing this
seeing this man here building a tent its 2 am youtube is a great thing!****
I just saw the stargate behind him. So freaking cool
Good idea.
......how to know someone didn't like your vid.......they gift you with a rooster......:)
I love that he has a Stargate in his backyard!
Great house ,⛺
Love the tent but can we get a video of the Stargate!
Excellent idea for an inexpensive tent
Procrastinating? no i'll get my homework done after this video.
Who made the Stargate? I want one of those in my yard!!
Very Nice Work! What are the dimensions of the frame and did you make the canvas also or use a tent company to make it for you??
is that a Stargate in the background?

A hole for each pole keeps things in place!
Good, but would have been nice to see what the top of the front looks like!
Stargate in the background. Excellent tent also.
Is that a StarGate i see in the background? Sweet!
whoa u got your own stargate thats awesome
cool tent !
Looks more sturdy than most modern rubbish.
Did the people on the other side of the StarGate help teach you these skills?
i like it. i may have to build one of these. what weight canvas did you use?
I think wooden cotter pins would be beneficial
`Always enjoy watching you.
I LOVE IT!!! WONDERFUL.

How rural are you.
Is that star gate active? I would like to check that out..
big difference in constructing and setting it up...
what a great tent well done. where can I get 1 of those???
Too cool. Thanks for posting.
What kind of fabric is that? Some sort of waxed canvas?
Awesome
OK, Thanks for building me a tent! Uh, now where is yours?
Is that a star gate back there? AWESOME
Waiting on Thor to stop by? Nice tent

plainly you don't do re-enactments. This is a popular style and it works very well.
Nice tent, nice stargate and are we having rooster for dinner?
So what's up with the star gate in back ground 😉
Show us your Stargate. That is really cool!
Straight and to the damn point. I like it 😎
How about replacing the canvas with a cheap blue tarp and installing snaps or velcro instead of ties? Just a thought.
Very interesting. Thank you
Great for backpacking..

Still easier than setting up a Canadian army mod tent!
I would tie the doors on the inside.
Let's gate to Midway Station then on to Atlantis. Indeed.
like the wood pin construction.
How big is that exactly? I'd estimate around 6' x 6'
How many Viking raiders would this house? Three, including food and kit?
Depends on the fatness of the Viking ;)
SarionFetecuse Hahaha yes that would probably have an effect ;) thanks for the reply xD
What are the dimensions?
Cameron Hargreaves Lots of work and specially made framing. Don't believe Vikings would bother. 0
They did bother.
Show 👏👏👏😃
21stCenturyHunterGatherer
Thank you for this interesting video. I will try to do this with my Scouts.
nice but how well does it work in winter weather
Is That a stargate in the background ? what planet was this filmed on ?
Why not make the string twice as long and have zipzag back to the adjacent corner...
if this design was done with PVC would it hold uyp to use of a "in tent heating / cooking stove?
only if you use cpvc
all u need know is a wood stove pretty clever .
Very cool.
