    No, people did not stab the ground with their swords unless they were completely insane.
    Dirt is abrasive and corrosive. Doing that _will_ ruin your edge and cost you many hours of your life just to repair the damage.

      Seriously. It almost made me almost skip the whole video... Anyone who grew up using tools, or with any first hand experience knows this stuff. It's embarrassing

    I built one of those 3 years ago for my grandsons to play in. Used an old lumber tarp,some paracord to keep sides from caving in. Doesn’t leak and great to put garden furniture in during winter,like a pop up shed. Cost for it was $3.50 for 100 feet of cording,rest was free. No metal was used

    fyi if you leave your swords planted in the ground they will stay sharp because the stones in the ground protect the blades and if the soil is wet it won't rust the swords but grow a sword tree !

      It's the most historically accurate way to place your sword somewhere.

    • @Gabdube
      @Gabdube 6 лет назад +3

      +g seirsdale It's sarcasm. Dirt is abrasive and corrosive. Planting a sword in the ground will ruin the edge, costing you many hours of sharpening it back to a functional grind. Historical swords were kept _sharp_, and were very expensive. *People did not stab the ground with their swords unless they were completely insane."

      It's consumerism, of course. The more people destroy their swords, the more people will buy new ones. Flawless logic.

    It would be really awesome if you guys could include in the description the text that you have at the beginning of the video as it's way too blurry to read. I can make out some of it, but not much.

    • @Gabdube

      Because they know a lot more about clothing than about weaponry...

    • @ArmstreetOfficial
      @ArmstreetOfficial  5 лет назад +6

      It's a sandy dry soil and a blunt sword, so this particular sword wasn't damaged. But you're right, we shouldn't have done this, it doesn't look realistic.

    Why ruin the boards by pounding hammer to finished boards.. could you of not permanently wrapped areas with twine to pound on?

    • @Gabdube
      @Gabdube 6 лет назад +3

      They jammed a sword in the ground, don't ask them to do too much thinking.

    • @grailchaser
      @grailchaser 4 месяца назад

      @@Gabdube The fact that they didn't attach the central spar to the boards whilst laying them horizontally on the ground first and then scissoring each end apart just boggles my mind.

    • @Shrewd_Enough
      @Shrewd_Enough 6 лет назад +2

      Dresden Diaz well everything was 10×10 so it's got to be 20x10 or 10x20 however it is. I just can't find a store that does that big of cut in a single piece. The best I could find is 60" wide sold by the yard.

    • @ShueperDan
      @ShueperDan 6 лет назад +10

      you can get 12'x9' canvas drop cloth from home depot, in the paint section. I think they even have like a 12' by 26' dropcloth too for like $40
      The best thing to do is get a dropcloth from harbor freight for like $14. Then water proof it by treating it and making it an Oil Skin Tarp. Soak in Boiled linseed oil and Mineral Spirits then let dry.

      The costumes are reasonably period-accurate. The whole "let's stab our sword in the ground" thing, not so much.
      You're complaining about the wrong thing.
