Harley Davidson Muscle Bike Carburetor Fail / DeMod In Vain

  • Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
  • After several weeks of trying to turn this 1994 Softail back stock, I stumbled upon some facts about this bike that the previous owner didn't know about. Turns out my new-to-me evo softail is a muscle bike and didn't know it. So, therefore it becomes aparrent that the demods were in vain and will be undoing my undoing. But as a side note... I decided to test out how my 883 sportster would do with the mikuni before putting it back onto the softail.

    G'day I'm Ray currently in hospital a 117 days in icu paralysed from knee down after 9 long months stay and several near death experiences Iv decided to rebuild two Harley's my wives is an 85 Fxef super glides never been opened 4speed ,mine is a 1992 softail with a 96cube S&S motor they went under water after two floods five weeks apart the second flood submerged both bikes with all the plugs out draining.thats when my heart broke I'd just had my motor rebuilt an only put a couple a tanks of gas through it , they have been sitting for 10 years now, I put them in storage an spent our time traveling Australia now and your show has given me a new lease on life and I'm very grateful for the inspiration you look and sound like your a great man with a good heart with that thanks again and I wish you nothing but success Ray from Toogoolawah Queensland.

    Ive got an old handmade necklace from the 60's/70's, that was my uncles. Says "Tramp" on it. He was an old "scooter tramp" that used to live in California. Came back to Kansas in the 80's. Later in life, him, I and my dad used to ride all over together. They're both gone. Ive got a few bikes but haven't rode in years. Used to be my only transportation. Rain, snow, shine. Id agree with the Evo decision, they're good engines. Started to cringe at the first thought at ditching the flatslide. Anyhow, thanks for the video, you put a smile on my face.

    I had a flat slide mikuni on an Evo hot rod. I never liked the adapter onto the Evo manifold, always seem a little janky and potential for leaks through the O ring. Good carburetor though, lots of tuning capability. Now all done with fire breather Evo's. I now build them with long service life in mind. 2500 plus subscribers in 36 hours, thats a lot of new friends. You're doing good work. Congrats.

    • @ernestcopoulos2709
      @ernestcopoulos2709 5 лет назад

      what o ring ,mikuni goes on with a rubber flange and is held in place by the head breather vent bolts that hold the air intake assembly never had one leak. the origanal evo intake from the heads always split they were superceded with aluminum with a large rubber seal those were bulletproof!

    I can emphasize with you quandary about the Heritage upgrades. I have a 1997 Dyna Wide-Glide. New 42 Mikuni carburetor, new Andrews ev3 cam, new stock Harley lifter's. New Metzeler tires front and back with new tubes and rim strips. New python exhaust. New S&S steel oil breather gear, new cam bearing, Wiseco 10-5-1 pistons with complete gasket upgrade. Happy as can be with the performance. Runs as good as it looks. I'm 67 years years young and still learning.

    That HRS 42 Mikuni you have is very adjustable, and is a preceice metering system . This carb can be adjusted for power or mileage, and I have installed them on anything from a internally stock 883 to a built evo. The carb is miles ahead of the S&S super E, or the stock CV carb. Do a search for the HRS tuning guide, and you might be a little surprised how well you can tailor that Mikuni to fit your needs on any bike.
