@Lonely Punk i dunno, the Parasite Eve series has had its hooks in me for 1 years, i find it hard to top that series for me, how i do have a love for the Tales series, they been going for 25+ years and every game is a experience worth taking ^_^
I've always felt that Suikoden is one of those game series that people have become ignorant of in modern times. Unless you actually played it, you never really remember it. What a fantastic game and series.
I love the castle upgrades from recruiting characters. I never knew about the broken gambling game when I played. I used the trading system for most of my money. Kept a hand written list of where to buy and sell items for profit.
A spiritual successor to Suikoden named Eiyuden Chronicle has been announced. It's being developed by Suikoden veterans (e.g. Yoshitaka Murayama (creator of Suikoden)). The kickstarter is live and mighty successful (more than US $2,5 million so far): www.kickstarter.com/projects/rabbitandbearstudios/eiyuden-chronicle-hundred-heroes/description
You must have had a lucky streak or are blessed with RNG with the gambling mini game. I lost constantly spending upwards to an hour or more trying to recruit the master gambler.
@@HighLevelReviews You can screw the gambling by mashing the shoulder button or some such trick if I remember correctly. Then, of course, there's the cup lady that always gives you 10.000 gold for picking the far right one (could be the far left. Can't remember lol)
Actually gotta go back and resume playing it since I haven't finished yet, took a detour to play FFIII hehe, although already love the game and series! it deserves all the praise it can get.
@@HighLevelReviews Yep. As well as Suikoden Tactics, Card Stories (I bought a fan translated cart) and Tierkreis for the DS. I most definitely love this series. Glad to see it finally reviewed and another fantastic one at that!
This game has aged extremely badly it hurts to play it. I really hope the other Suikoden games have a more modernized Turn Based battle system like Final Fantasy X. I hate the inventory system because one of the characters who I gave a rune to died permanently and I lost the rune... so annoying.
Thanks for all of the support guys! Next up is Tales of Vesperia. It will be my introduction to the series so that should be fun and challenging.
omg Tales of Vesperia, i cant wait for that ^_^

Great games. But they aren't shadow hearts for the ps2
@Lonely Punk right they have more setting and character than most rpgs. Would give them all my,money to remaster it
@Lonely Punk you got a discord?

well it does not help that the series has been dead since 2006. and that only 1 and 2 are wworth playing as each of the ps2 entries have issues.
That acoustic guitar arrangement of the main theme is a masterpiece. It invokes warm feelings when I listen to it.
The only downside to Suikoden I is its brevity - it leaves you craving more of its captivating world!
i played Suikoden in 1997. still one of my favorites.
You have earned a subscriber. Great review.
thank you!
That music ❤❤❤❤❤

Hi, where can I download the picture at 01:58 ? It's really cool!
The RPG that got me into the genre.
I would say Chrono Trigger followed by this was what got me very interested leading to today which almost looks like a 2nd golden age
I feel all the 2D PS1 games have aged better then the 3D ones. PS1's 3D graphics just weren't good enough for the jump from 2D.
Suikoden 1 is in my top 5 fave games of all time and top 3 OSTs of all time
Suikoden 2 review pliss??

Minha série de Jogos favorita
suikoden 1 and 2 are the few jrpgs i feel tells a war story right that arnt srpgs.
Why does the actual cover art look so Americanized, but when you open the case, the cover on the manual is with the actual anime characters!?
HE IS PUMPIN'!
I always did and always will call it "sa coo din"

While Suikoden 2 may have elements that are better, there is no denying that Suikoden 1 has the far superior OST and one of the best in all of gaming

Hmm... I wonder if any of your subscribers had any influence on you deciding to review this game...
Actually, no lol. Why?
@@HighLevelReviews Because I recommended it like 10 times, lol
@@FatalMasamune LOL it was actually on my list. i bet i added it a looooong time ago because of you. Have you played through 4-5?

@@FatalMasamune thank you! i;m very curious about suikoden tactics. thoughts on that as a potential game to review in the future?
