      Question:) What is your set up to record this video, are you using an emulator, if so with what peripherals to control with? if on console, how is the output recorded, thank you! x

    Love this game. First found out about it in high school and have played it several times. The story is such a nice change of pace from other jrpg's. It's so warm and full of hope. For anyone who sees this that is looking for a good jrpg to play, I highly recommend this one. Especially if you are looking for something that can genuinely make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The PSP remake, Lunar: Silver Star Harmony, is also very good. The only real complaint some people have about it is the new art style for the sprites.
    As for the people who want or wanted a remake with a translation that is more true to the Japanese version, in most cases its a "you think you do but you really don't" type of thing. The entire feel of the game would change and many, probably most, of the people who wanted it would dislike it.

    This game changed the way I looked at RPG's, and it left a lasting impression on after all these years. I still have the necklace that came with the game, and have given it to my daughter. I told her that she is protected by the Goddess Althena herself. Although she doesnt know who that is, she will someday. This is more than a mere game, and has given me strength through song, and the pure representation of what love can endure...As long as you have hope!

    I wonder if everyone's initial Lunar will remain their favorite? SSSC was my first Lunar, and I still prefer it to the admittedly beautiful PSP re-remake. It was a game steeped in a nostalgic feeling, even playing it for the first time.

    I can't believe Iwadare wasn't happy with the soundtrack in this version, it is outstanding IMO. The combat in this game is simplistic, but I really loved it. Being able to set up tactics to reduce menu time was a great feature. I found the AI command to be useless though, since it would just use up all your MP as fast as possible. I've beaten this one on PS1 and Saturn, and would like to tackle the PSP and Sega CD original someday.

    An excellent job with this review my friend. This is a game that I have completed to 100% and it is permanently retired in my gaming library. This game is a perfect example of what makes the jrpg genre so great for the playstation 1. It is such a great light hearted adventure with an excellent cast of characters that has excellent pacing throughout the entire experience. It knows exactly when it needs to be serious, or when to be funny and when to be incredibly sincere while still maintaining its charm. It doesn't really break any rules with what constitutes a great jrpg but it leads to a very overall pleasant experience. The voice acting in this game is top notch with some very beautiful animated cut scenes. It is a very beautiful timeless experience. I never really had an difficulty completing to the game to be honest. I pretty much defeated every enemy in each dungeon and it was really great that the enemies didn't refresh unless you went to a different floor of a dungeon and I guess that was one of the reasons why I felt properly leveled with each dungeon i traversed too. The game does have a lot of permanent missables with a very short window to get them so it took a lot of research to make sure I got everything i could get in the game but completing this game never felt monotonous. One thing I will credit this game for doing that I would love to see more games do, is I loved the voice outtakes at the end of the entire rpg experience. It just goes to show how much fun people had with this game.

    Great video! I’ll be honest, I never had an issue with the difficulty in this game. It never struck me as grindy. Really, I feel that way for a number of games where the original Japanese game was easier than the NA counterparts. But it has been some time since I’ve played through it. I am going to give it a run through starting later this year as a nod to Working Designs’ closing 15 years ago. Speaking of, I can understand people wanting more authenticity in translation, but I really enjoyed the game that we got, along with other games they published like Vay and Alundra. Maybe it’s a bit like the old subbed vs dubbed argument in anime. Yeah, you might not get the exact same product, but that doesn’t automatically make it bad or even worse.

    Some of the boss stats were scaled based on your level so grinding actually worked against you in some cases. On my second playthrough, I ended up a few levels higher when I got to the first boss (Saline Slimer) and actually had a much tougher time with him than on my first playthrough.

    • @HighLevelReviews
      @HighLevelReviews  4 года назад +1

      So technically they scale with Alex's level. Apparently you can cheese the game by having Alex run from encounters so he doesn't level up with the other members.

    even tho i only got into this series a few years ago this and lunar 2 are some of my favorite jrpgs.
    and for those that don't mind useing an emulator i recommend the un worked designs patch. it reverts the difficulty back to how it was in the japanese version and makes it less of a pain to play.
    as wd reworked the difficulty when they brought games out here to make them harder and at lest with this games case it made the game almost unforgiving at times.

    You show the box art, you reference the making of, and what Victor Ireland says in it, but you don't feature any video footage from the actual making of. Is there a reason why?

    oh and wd did not just make enemies hit harder. they halved money you get in chest, halved the exp you get from enemies, made the level scaler on bosses make them almost un winnable due to changing how much the stats changed if you fought them at to high a level. and made jessica's teleport spell like 20 mp when it's supposed to be 1.
    so yeah again the unworked patch is your friend.

    • @HighLevelReviews
      @HighLevelReviews  4 года назад +2

      Experience was lowered by an average of 15%, not half. Other than that sure, I get some of the frustrations.
