Thats so cool that you had two looks to celebrate diffrent sides of your culture! And you look lovely in both!
"she wore a red mehndi outfit that replicated the look of one of her favourite actresses" I love those little anecdotes that remind us that culture and traditions are not that stiff oppressive thing of the past but instead something moving, living , breathing and morphing from one person to another
Yeah, and the wedding waltz being a classic thing in our weddings, my mother and father danced to Enya's Carribbean Blue :'D I just find it funny, with there being a new age song that the bride and groom dance their wedding waltz to, immediately followed by a very classic, melancholy Finnish waltz that was my grandparents' wedding song xD
From dealing with that one foundation used on every child irrespective of their skin tone during school functions to getting one made for your skin tone, we’ve come a long way.
P.S. I’m just happy your makeup shade is not called something like Masala Chai or something.
Just like Hannah Montana, Shaaba got the best of both worlds. Sending Jamie and you all my love ❤
I love velvet and burgundy or deep reds for lengha/cholis, they are so royal. You are the image of beauty and happiness, both in western bridal wear and Asian bridal wear 😍
I adore the vibrant colours.
You look so beautiful!! I love this look and the amazing wedding culture South Asia has. I find it really interesting that a lot of things European (wedding specifically) culture looks down upon (nose ring, skin, tattoos, color) are celebrated.
It’s almost as if the solidification of a European identity was rooted in Islamophobia 😮😮😮
@@iwishihadseenthatlol Lol I was about to say… hashtag racism 🤷
@@iwishihadseenthatlol Actually it's less Islamophobia and more racism and colourism. ;)
@@iwishihadseenthatlol nose ring, tattoos, colour are not just in islamic culture
So many lovely traditions you got to do! It’s so sweet that your mom did the henna on your feet since it was significant to the occasion.
one of my bets friends whos indian recently got married, shes currently in canada and married a canadian fellow, and I found it very interesting that there were a lot of western traditions that she didnt know were a thing! im v excited to see this video and hopefully have a better idea of what her wedding was like (sadly couldnt go but I saw photos and she looked beautiful!!)
Honestly I really do appreciate how amazing and beautiful and how much goes into creating the whole outfit and accessories
Incorporating Prawn and Apollo into your henna is amazing!! 😻😻
This is absolutely beautiful! I actually got teary eyed when you got the head piece on. You are gorgeous and the detailing on all of it is spectacular.
You are stunning! Your look is utterly ethereal, made even more so by a smile that brightens the world✨
And the fact that you never liked your deep Cupid’s bow stuns me, because it is so reminiscent of a silent film star, (Evelyn Nesbit, the original Gibson girl, specifically) or the later ‘Vamp’ film noir actresses like Nadira!
Love, love, love every picture of you and Jamie at the wedding! You truly do look like a rom-com ending 💜
One of my cousins married an Indian chick, and they had a western half wedding and then when the evening came the couple changed into Indian wedding atire and it was so awesome to attend! I love your look, congrats on your wedding both you and Jamie are so cute together
You look so beautiful. I'm fascinated with how extravagant and glamorous wedding attire is in other cultures. Especially South Asian. I am awed with the level of detail and work that goes into each piece. No Western wedding could ever compare. Love how much fun you're having recreating the look.
GIRL I CAN'T BELIEVE I ONLY FOUND OUT YOU'RE MAURITIAN TODAY! (Fellow enby Mauritian here😘😘)
I've been following Jamie's videos since last year and they helped me in my coming out process. Every time you'd feature on his channel and talk about your south asian background it felt so relatable but I'm actually (happily) surprised that it's because we share the same nationality. Everything makes sense now. I feel so glad and proud to know happy Mauritian ppl abroad who are married to or are trans/enbies themselves. I wish you 2 a long-lasting and happy marriage. I hope I can have my own wedding in Mauritius as an openly nonbinary person one day (although i really fear for my safety and whether I'd be accepted by my family). Jamie's and your videos give me lots of hope, very grateful for that.
YOU LOOK SO BEAUTIFUL! Love the way your pink hair looks with the red
I'm a bridesmaid in a Pakistani Ismaili wedding in Chicago next spring, and I'm SO EXCITED to see my friend look gorgeous like this 😍
As a SA I absolutely loved your mehndi look! Congratulations
I was thinking "what a perfect cupid's bow her lips have" and then you said how much you never liked this part of your lips. It's always like this, isn't it? lol
oh my god the head turn at the beginning, i literally yelled “SLAY” you look so good!!!
Absolutely gorgeous, stunning. Many many many moons ago I was engaged to an Asian man and while we never walked down the aisle together we did take wedding pictures (professionally) and I have some wearing the most stunning red ballgown (which was meant to also be my dress for the day). This was long before I came out as non-binary and these days I sometimes look at the photos and think “who the heck is this? 😂” and have a little laugh. Other times I just look at the photos and think “dang dragon, you clean up nice” 😅
The South Asian traditions are absolutely beautiful & lovely, thank you so much for sharing it with us. The look is just absolutely breaking! ❤
It was so much fun to see you get ready and have fun doing it :D

Wow, your dress sounds heavy over the internet, even all the way over here in the U.S. lol! I can't wait for more! It's so fun to see how other cultures do their traditions and why. I'm also blown away that you did two different wedding traditions, that would be so fun, and I'm grateful that you're sharing it with us! 🥰🤩

I'm so glad you did the red anyway, it looks absolutely stunning. You look like some character designed only for aesthetic reason, the red just goes perfectly with the hair and skin tone, in addition to all the beautifully intricate details. I can not wait to learn how to draw these, truly

I love the outfit and all the jewellery! It’s so over the top in a western setting, but it just comes together perfectly, and I think it’s great how you integrates both cultures in your wedding.
The look is gorgeous, and as an outsider, really interesting to see all the various parts and hear your explanations on them.
I love the picture of Jamie and Shabba at the mehndi. They both look so happy
I loved your Mendi look explanation. It is great to see how happy and passionate you are about your culture. Thank you for sharing it with us.
You don't need a lot of make up but I absolutely love what you did for your Mendi. I would never have been able to pull off this colours but you look amazing in the deep red and gold.
