Hi Thank you for this video. I bought my overlocker over 15 years ago and never used it. I eventually decided to open it to start using it now that I have retired just to find that the removable plate was never included. I followed your threading and eventually got the machine to sew but then the left needle kept breaking. I have to retread that needle all the time so I haven’t had much happiness with using my serger. What am I doing wrong? I will retire as it and then try to see if it sews and then the three doesn’t move. I am getting so frustrated with the overlocker. Please help.
Okay so I went to Empisal offices and the kind lady help me. Apparently I was not threading the machine correct. Now it’s working smoothly and I am enjoy using it.
i dont mean to be off topic but does anybody know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the login password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
@Faith I did some research and found this info which could help you with your problem. Here is a link to explaining how to properly thread your particular machine: www.fixya.com/support/t26241446-thread_empisal_overlocker_model_760c Just copy and paste it into your browser and you will see the link under the answer section. Some further research revealed the following responses: You may consider installing brand new needles--be sure they are pushed all the way up before the screw is tightened. Remove all the threads from the machine. RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning--double verify that the pathway for each thread is correct. If one guide is missed or threaded out of order, the machine will not work correctly When threading the tension disks, give each thread an extra little tug to make sure it is seated firmly in the disk. Sometimes the thread will actually make a little "pop" when it seats. Be sure to thread IN THE ORDER specified--if not, the machine will probably never work. Usually, the upper looper is threaded first, then the lower looper. Also, usually the last step in threading the lower looper is to make sure the thread drapes OVER the top of the upper looper before the tail is pulled under the presser foot. Set all the tension dials to the midway point which is the standard setting for basic over locking. Each machine varies and may need some tweaking, but this is a good starting point. If everything has been done correctly up to this point and it still will not make a chain, the machine timing may be off. You may need to take it for service. Remember, if the machine breaks a thread or will not serge properly, avoid unnecessary frustration and re-thread every thread from the beginning in the proper order. Until you understand the machine very well, trying to fish a thread through the machine will fail ~99% of the time. Sounds like the timing is a little out. If you remove the needle plate and turn the hand-wheel manually watch for the lower looper as it swings behind the Left needle....the needles ought to rise by only about 2 mm before the looper passes......the looper must pass the needle above the eye to catch the thread, and be so close as to be barely touching the rear of the needles......if the left needle thread is not picked up, it may be the timing, or the distance between needle and looper. For the uninitiated, there are a myriad of variables in correctly timing an over locker (serger), and without the manual to refer to the correct parameters, you will rapidly descend down a road of despair....if you move a looper to advance or ****** the timing, you risk looper collision and a broken looper is almost as much as a service, so my advice is do the test to see if the timing is the likely culprit, and if so, take the opportunity to give the old girl a treat. If you need to save for a while to do it, just use the 3 thread option for the time being. All sergers thread the same way and sergers have to be threaded in a certain order. I made a jingle out of it... upper looper lower looper right needle left It would be best to have a tweezers handy to help with the thread and threading. Always be sure the lower looper thread goes over the top of the upper looper then out the back. I would be surprised if your thread guides are not color coded. If you look at the top thread guides or the spools. First from left to right thread the 3rd spool, then the fourth spool. Then you thread the right needle (the second spool) then the left needle (1st spool). The lower looper can be tricky because you have to thread it from the back of the looper to the front. Pull the threads out the back from under the foot. Then go ahead and run it slow watching to see if it starts making a chain. It should. If not do it over again. OR Empisal 760C overlocker: the left needle thread does not engage in the chain. Try replacing with a brand new needle and confirm that it is firmly and correctly installed.
