My "go to" truck accessories store was gonna charge me $150 to install this light. DONSLIFE saved me that money...best accessories channel out there! Way to go DON! It took me less than an hour after watching your video!
Great video I really like the Putco products. They are well built and have a lot of light options. They are NOT the old fashioned light bars of the past. Not many of these aftermarket vendors get the Donslife seal of approval with his trademark detailed video describing and installing their product. I own the 37 inch bar but I wasn’t aware of all of its features until I watched Don’s video! Now I’m reconsidering buying the remote for my bar. For those who don’t know the bars can be bought with or without the remote and like Don said the Work Light features are only accessible using the remote. I bought the 37 inch bar for my 2023 GMC 1500 AT4. These comments are intended to inform people with the 2022 Refresh model and the 2023 model year. I’ve done some test fittings and tested the light operation but haven’t installed the bar yet. The grille of the 2023 is different than Don’s grille. There is only one slot in the grille long enough to fit the bar and I discovered the width of this slot is just wide enough to squeeze the bar in. The slot is tapered just enough to keep the bar from sliding all the way back into the slot like Don did with his 37 inch bar. The best I can do is to install the bar to sit flush with the grille. Not ideal but I can live with it. I notified Putco about this 2023 issue. The person I talked to said they were unaware of the issue. Keep up the good work Don.
Got mine installed last night, and I put a strip of smoke tint vinyl to protect it but also so it doesn't stand out as much when turned off. I got the idea from you to cover the main light bar with the clear film and thought I'd mention using the tinted vinyl on the virtual blade. It's still plenty bright when on and almost disappears when turned off. Looking forward to the next project video that I convince myself I need! Be nice when you pivot more to the C8 so I can start saving money 😅
Just curious I am trying to install mine on the same truck, did you use zip ties on the 37" bar to the same supports you use for the grill insert or something different? Love the content you've inspired plenty of my own mods I've done to mine!
Hey there Don's Life, could you Please tell me how this Virtual Blade's amber turn signal looks in direct sunlight? Is it bright enough to be the main turn signal? I'm thanking of using them for the running light/ drl and turn signal on a completely custom vehicle Thank you sir!
Sorry for the delay. I had to test this on a sunny day. Both the amber and white are visible in direct sunlight, but slightly less so than the headlight DRLs. Actually, the white and amber look like colored plastic in direct sunlight. At a glance a person might not realize they are illuminated, but you definitely can see them. No since I tinted mine slightly, when they flash on and off, then you can easily notice their presence. Not a bright as the headlight DRLs though. I hope this helps.
Looks like a big smiley face. 😊 Happy truck! Nice work Don. I went with the lighted GMC logo on my 23 DU. I like these but it may be too much. Does the white light of the bars match your headlights? In the video they look “whiter”.
The light looks brighter and whiter on camera but in person it matches closer. Including the amber color with some of my other lights. It is a universal application so it might be designed to work well with all of the popular truck brand’s DRLs
I know you previously had a gmc denali mine is a 2020 gmc denali and was wondering if you had any recomendations for a light bar on the grill or just anywhere or how to's if you ever put on on yours
Gosh, I don’t know. You’ll want to decide on a layout and then measure out what would fit 37”, 15”, 8”. The smaller ones can come as pairs. The mounting clips are at the ends so look for spots you can run cable ties
Hey Don, didn’t you have the illuminated GMC front badge? I have the illuminated “Glow-tie” on my Chevy Trail Boss, didn’t make it 2 years before it was completely burn out. I like the loom but if that’s it’s longevity I’m not going to purchase again. 1 year warranty is kinda trash if you ask me.
Trying to decide on the 32 or the 37 for the same spot using the same grill insert. I see some of their images show the black piece right in the center of the light bar and some images show nothing there, is that black piece a clip that's removable for mounting or is it just part of the light bar? And thanks as always for adding another project to my list.
@@Donslife right on thanks. When I measured that opening last night in that same spot on that insert it was right at 37in where it tapers in on either side. Just was checking your video for reference to see what size you used and obviously the 37 fits... Is there a little wiggle room in the fitment, if I'm explaining it clearly. Because I put my raptor style amber lights in that same opening and I plan on just removing them and using the raptor style marker light pattern on the virtual blade! 🌫️ 🔦.
@@_____mh I had to press the virtual blade in there very firmly, so there is no wiggle room above or below. Then once in place I did my best to cinch the cable ties up and clip the ends. I couldn’t get enough leverage on the middle part of the bar to pull it in any tighter so I might end up removing the clip one day.
@@Donslife thanks again for getting back to me, I wasn't even considering wiggle room up and down (good to know) I was concerned with the 37" fitting on the left and right sides of that spot and any wiggle room remaining. That's the only reason I was considering the 32 over the 37; I just ordered 37"🤞.
