I discovered your channel while doing research car hunting. I recently purchased a 2020 Grand Cherokee Altitude in Sting Gray and I've really enjoyed your quick and easy mods done to your (similar as mine) vehicle.
I recently just put a pair of HIDs in with my dad, we had to pull the computer off the one side and the airbox off the other just for bulbs! Talk about difficult headlights lol
just got a 2020 jeep grand Cherokee limited and will be doing all LED headlight low and highs with fogs with the GTR Ultra 2 lighting. the fans on those lasfit pros look huge lol. I like how compact the GTR Ultra 2 look and they come with a lifetime warranty. better heatsink and supposedly the best output with all Mopar products is what I've been seeing and hearing. great video! I've been wondering if I should go through the access panel or from the top.
I have a 18 Altitude and i also installed Diode Dynamics Led Bulbs & Omg It was a Freaking pain to do so! Its really hard to twist the bulb in there. I got all my hand Cut up & Beat! Lol
I swapped my yellow lights with LEDs at a local shop.. but I realized that whatever you do.. the headlights are not gonna be at the same level as the Bi Xenon LEDs with the Switchback turn signals on the other Grand Cherokee models.. they still feel dull in rain. I think the better option if you can spare $1000 bucks is to go with@mhfsrt. They have custom headlights under $1000( or the pricier $1600 original SRT style ones) . You can replace the entire headlights with theirs.
What high beams and fog lights did you use?? I got a couple LEDs for the Jeep and they would not work but they were for my low beams!! I even got the GTR ultra 2 for the low beam and they didn't work!!
U have Hids in a halogen housing or you have original projectors with halogens and swapped them for hids? I'm asking because if you do have projectors you could get really good LEDs that will show a nicer beam pattern like the new Morimoto LEDs look at the reviews on those beasts.. otherwise... Stick to HIDs... Still far more superior quality light than any LED so far. Well ull still need a good HID quality kit so not any cheap garbage
I had to drop the bumper to install my HID kit on my 19 GC. I also swapped out the chrome grill inserts with black while it was off. It was easier for me to do it this way then try to go through the hood or the way behind the tires.
Removing the air box to access the driver side is the way to go. The passenger side is best accessed by removing the ecu. Disconnect the negative battery, then remove the ecu. That will give you the room from the top. Also, the beam pattern on your LEDs should be corrected and that is by using the Allen key included in your package. The 3 tabs are on a ring you need to rotate on the bulb itself so that when the bulb is installed, the diodes are facing 9 and 3 ⬅️➡️. That will vastly improve your beam pattern. Good luck.
Absolutely agree! Airbox removal and unplug ECU. Huge PTA. Whoever designed the process is a moron because any way you do it, your wrist will need to do tricks you never thought it could do.
How did you get around using the dust cover for the low beam headlight? That wire for the ballast is preventing a proper closure of the dust cover. Please help.
The reason they gave you the little allen key is for indexing the bulbs. You need to make sure the LED chips are facing to 3 and 9 o'clock position to get the optimal beam pattern. I have installed a few different brand LEDs in low, high and fog lamp in my 2020 altitude. You should look into the new Morimoto 2stroke 3.0 for your low beam. It is hard to find a bulb that performs well in a projector housing. They offer a better cooling option that will actually blow the warm air into the housing and melt snow/ice. Any other LED bulb on the market will not do this. Also they have a much better cutoff line. If you noticed with your light pattern it's pretty scattered which won't give you good distance and probably blind on coming drivers. But yes a very poor design on Jeeps part to install these bulbs. That port hole is pretty much useless. I have gone through the top and a couple times and still not easy. The dealership wanted $400 to install the bulbs as they drop the bumper.
@@arniceousmaximus2183 Cherokee's went to shit design-wise after 2004. Used to be well laid out, easy to work on pretty much anything. Yes the HID are the best....until a ballast goes out. Then you have to replace it. Which isn’t cheap and I’ve read the average ballast lifespan is about 3 yrs on these cars. For those who aren’t privy (I wasn’t until recently after tons of research), HID headlight setups need a ballast in order to operate. One ballast per headlight. Idk about halogen or LED setups- whether they are similar in any way. I can say I’m seriously considering replacing my HID assemblies with halogen kit setups so I can go to LED as per this video. Thanks for this video btw! I really like your channel.🙂
