I've never been able to understand this! And it happens more than people realize. The only explanation that I can understand is that denial is a very powerful thing. They (the mother in this case) just can't cope and doesn't know how to escape the psycho, so they just deny the allegations made by her own daughter. So tragic. I like to think today things are different. She could probably go to a school counselor and they'd immediately take action.

I'm glad for the girl's sake that she has learned to forgive her mom. Personally, I would have a hard time letting any man move in with me if I had my kids living there. The mom should have held firm and not allowed him to move in so fast. I think this disgusting man had plans for the young daughter before he moved in. This woman clearly had no common sense which is why she told him that she was leaving and agreed to go to his house for "one last dinner"
Everything about this is tragic. The fact that her mother didn't believe her. People who are that manipulating will make you believe them. You know your daughter hates me. She is just lying to break us up. The fact that the brother lost his marriage because he wanted so desperately to find his sister. Also that they never found her body. That poor little girl had to see her mother like that. Then had to listen to her being mudered. Having to spend hours being assaulted while covered in her mother's blood. What an amazing child. @@ShiruSama1that’s what makes me mad about this comment section, obviously I feel so, so bad for Jennifer, but her mom was also a victim of his abuse, she was caught trying to escape and got agonizingly murdered because of it, and everyone’s blaming her for everything, because if she had left sooner none of this would’ve happened, but I’ve witnessed abuse happen to my own mom and she still found it hard to leave, not because she’s an awful person, but because she had hope that the person she once loved would come back.
Hearing about how she still misses her mother is so sad. After everything, she still has moments she wished she could’ve had with her. I hope she knows that it’s not her fault, she wasn’t an adult. Her mum should have left the second she spoke up about the abuse.
Even if you've never watched a single True Crime case, if your heavily abusive husband, right after you tell him you and your daughter are moving out, invites you two to "one last dinner", without having any food prepared and going "to get groceries" using your car, and you don't think anything is wrong and weird about that??? Like, I'm realy sorry, and it's definitely the father that is at fault here for even being abusive, but she really could've done better. And again, I'm not trying to victim-blame, but the daughter even noticed something was off and tried to warn her mother, but instead of getting the fuck out of there or calling the damn police, she fell asleep..?
Rule #1 in a abusive relationship: YOU NEVER TELL ABUSER YOUR LEAVING!!!! ABUSERS WILL DO AND SAY ANYTHING(gaslighting) TO KEEP YOU FROM LEAVING. Rule #2) NEVER TELL ABUSERS WHERE YOU ARE AFTER LEAVING. Many women have to use womens abuse shelter resources to leave their abuser because they have laws, rules, and resources to make sure abuser cannot get to victims. They even have abuse victim safe houses/apartments for women with children. They have counseling services for the victims to keep victims from going back to abuser. Years of gaslighting causes victims to believe the gaslighting lies. It usually takes victims 3xs of leaving to stay away from abuser for good. It took me 4xs. I grabbed my 2 kids(abuser is the father) and we left with only the clothes on our backs, diaper bag, kids blankies, and shoes on our feet. It’s been 13 years and my kids haven’t seen their father in 13 years. I’ve seen and read more then a few comments: **SO PLEASE DO NOT VICTIM BLAME IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN IN A ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP BEFORE!!!!!

What a great ❤️ feeling of hope with her family story Jennifer has started to create, learn and move forward from her on her experiences. She inspires others by being honest and exposing her pain and experiences, which were unimaginable, yet she shares for others benefits and possible future warnings. Bravo.😢

Brave girl Jennifer. Your mother should have believed you, that it is why she lost her life to this maniac. You should protect your child against a rapist boyfriend.
Broads like that always think they're different to the victim. That is until they become the victim next. Sometimes that won't even change their mind until they even die.

She probably noticed the way he acted and he probably threatened her and the mother was genuinely scared. She didnt have the strength to speak up. Stop bothering the poor woman. No one deserves being brutally assaulted, murder or attacked. NO ONE! Stop blaming the victims. GET SOME HELP.
The mother was more than likely abused to the point where she was made to believe she couldn't survive without this man. DV cases are very complicated because it is hard to break the cycle. Once someone believes they can't live without their abuser or that they are nothing without their abuser, its very unlikely they will leave, even when their children are at risk. Her mother wasn't in a healthy state of mind so thats why she didn't receive or acknowledge the news of her daughter's abuse. I do feel bad for the mother because I've been in a DV situation and it is very very hard to break the cycle without the proper support. I'm sure in the beginning of the relationship there were red flags but she ignored them. It's unfortunate that she, and her daughter, had to pay for her over looking those red flags.
@@retaliationeffort2864 Yes I know that DV victims have a difficult time leaving their abusers. My late younger sister was psychologcally abused by her 2nd husband, a vet. I said: if you divorce you can have half of his assets. Oh no, he's put in the childrens name. I looked it up, In the UK, if there is a divorce, previous money arrangements become void. When I told her this, she said: I still love him! I myself survived being shot 7 times because I wouldn't enter into that sort of situation with a jealous bf who wanted to start controlling me. All best wishes and hope that you are now well and happy.

Its suspicious that she fell asleep during something like that when she amd her mom were planning on moving out. She may have been drugged without even realizing it, if she drank anything during that time they were getting ready to leave.
IDK I remember a few really intense emotional episodes as a teenager that left me spontaneously 'exhausted', to the point of intense collapse, even when the general air of heightened danger was still active.
Not suspicious at all. She was 14, and extreme trauma does induce serious exhaustion in teenagers. There have been studies on this. Sleeping a lot actually becomes a method of coping. The other extreme is insomnia and hypervigilance.
My heart breaks for this girl. I have never been in an abusive relationship. Nothing like this so I cannot speak from experience. But you gotta be a down right silly goose to put your own feelings in front of your child’s. And that really scares me that a parents can look at their child that is claiming someone is abusing them. And say they are making it up. How r they gonna make it up? A child shouldn’t even KNOW what that is. So why are they claiming it? I am so sorry for this woman and anyone who had a mother or father like this. It’s sickening. And it’s not your fault. At all. As a parents their first priority should be the safety of their children.

Eddie was a perfect example of what a psychopath is. Such people need to be addressed, if possible, before they can escalate to such levels. If not possible, they may still be able to be rehabilitated however, most cannot be. If they cannot be, there is no reason to put the burden of their continued existence upon the shoulders of society.
I cannot feel bad for the mom I can’t and Jennifer YOU ARE SO BRAVE and even tho your mom didn’t believe you… you are so amazingly tough for speaking out being that young a lot of kids stay quiet but you didn’t you’re not a victim you’re a survivor ❤🎉
I lived on the 3rd floor of the Somerset Towers in Cherry Hill, when this happened and I saw Charles quite often, he would hold the door open for me. I was a single female but grateful I had 2 male roommates. I was still living there when Robert Stack came and filmed the Unsolved Mysteries episode. I moved out a few years later! But scary. Very scary and too close to home!! I've never heard the story from the girl's view. She was way too young and traumatized back then. RIP Dede
As far as I know, a serial killer is someone who murders three people or more. Although it's possible that Eddie may have killed others, it was only proven that he killed two.
How am I from Cherry Hill my whole life and I don’t think I know this case or I don’t think I do. Jennifer is only a few years younger than I am, idk how I could have missed something so tragic happening in my own backyard, however back when your young, people tend to be very self consumed and pay little attention to the news, which is more than likely the reason. I don’t know why I included all of that, except that I must be feeling some kind of guilt for not being aware of this. These days watching, listening, learning and suffering for all the victims of these horrific crimes is literally all that I do. Jennifer I’m still right here in the area if you are, my heart goes out to you and all I ever wanna do is hug someone who’s been through this unspeakable pain, I could certainly use one, it’s a lot carrying the pain of all of humanity’s suffering…
I'm fully aware abused women feel trapped and are mentally manipulated but I still can't sympathize with Rebecca since she knew her daughter was being abused and molested and took the psycho's side. It's her job to protect her daughter at all costs. Also they had a chance to quietly get away and Rebecca, for some reason that defies all logic, TOLD HIM they were going to leave. That moronic decision is what ultimately sealed her own fate and got her daughter assaulted / tortured yet again and almost murdered. There's no excuse.
Yo... this case definitely caught me off guard. Im from New Jersey but more on the Manhattan side... ive always heard of Cherry Hilll. Never been but its always had a good rep. Supposedly a nice suburb .... ive never heard of this case.... a serial killer in Jersey?? .. wild. Fortunately the daughter appears to be a strong woman after that experience as a young girl
No person should lose their mom like that. However, you should at least try to shield your child from suffering. I know you are fearful, but at least try...
Parents, if your child tells you something completely bizarre, of a sexual nature, physical abuse, etc, perpetrated by another adult, family, friend, or stranger, BELIEVE them. I work with adults who have been abused as a child, and there is nothing more demeaning for an abused child to hear people they love and trust tell them, 'You are lying,' or 'I don't believe you.' Check it out, please!
I'm born, raised and still live in Jersey and have never heard this story! Murder is wrong but not for nothing, the mom put both herself and Jennifer in that situation. Even going as far as actively denying her daughter's abuse!!!! Mom knew that man was crazy! Everybody did! Both Mom and Eddie paid their own price for being neglectful and disgusting. I'm happy to know that Jennifer has overcome this and is thriving. She deserves that❤️❤️❤️
She probably think Eddie will change and become romantic husband who will beg her to stay.she still want the attention.idiot mother,i am sorry but she made this.
To be fair she was only 7. She was just a child. (Nvm you were talking about the mom but yes I agree that was so ugh, some people are just so ignorant that their abusive partners won’t hurt them and make excuses like oh it was one time, but people who think that should get outside help and therapy. Unfortunately Rebecca never did that)
so the video had no problem saying he would kill her, but had a problem saying that he would then kill *himself* ? So, murder is ok to talk about, but not suicide? Is this where we need to go as a society? So many videos also don't allow us to hear or read the words *rape* or *abuse* , either. If we cannot talk about it, how can we solve the problems?
You should never tell your child " i don't believe you" in cases like this. Even if they are lying cause if they're telling the truth, then it should be pretty obvious what to do, and if they're lying, then there's probably something else going on in their head and should probably get therapy.
I’m thinking of your voice… it sounds like one of the narrators on Horror Shorts Party channel! Am I right? 👀🤔 I really like this channel, the way the content is presented is excellent! Thank you much…🏆💖👏
Yeah I do not feel sorry for the mother. The underage daughter, a victim herself, had the strength to recognise what was wrong and that they needed to leave and she not only didn't do anything, she told him.
I absolutely HATE when a parent doesn’t believe their child!!!! Why would they make it up?! As a parent you KNOW your own child inside and out. You know when they’re telling the truth and you know when they’re lying!
Rest in peace to Dede. All my Respect to Jennifer, i can't even begin to imagine what it must've been like to live with the trauma she went through, it's a relief she could find the happiness she always deserved.
Why are you guys not fathoming that maybe, just maybe, this guy was so fucked up that he was able to manipulate her. Maybe she was convinced that he was going to kill her and torture her daughter if she tried to leave him. And she was right.
Wow...47 years of giving up myself to protect my daughter...and she still treats me like crap at times....Jennifer! Something is very wrong that you are idolizing and overlooking what she did. Seek more counseling or different counselor. You may be trying to be "nice" to feel loved. That could repeat over and over on a daily basis. You do not have to be nice and give uo yourself to receive love....Giving of yourself to protect your own child is to love your kids.

@@Zkizzick yes, I too have zero sympathy! This daughter tried warning her and she chose not to listen, she actually told her daughter she was making it up! I called that karma.

To be able to somehow have the courage and strength to pick up the pieces. It's wonderful that she was able to go to her sister and not into foster care. She has her own children now and is experiencing a hopefully good life.

I'm sorry but the mother could have stopped everything from happening..

Like, I'm realy sorry, and it's definitely the father that is at fault here for even being abusive, but she really could've done better.

Rule #1 in a abusive relationship:
YOU NEVER TELL ABUSER YOUR LEAVING!!!!
I’ve seen and read more then a few comments:

I had forgotten about this but '90s videos reminded me, and it was important to me at the time; now I feel all my holes in my education are filled with this video and specifically with this channel. What a great ❤️ feeling of hope with her family story Jennifer has started to create, learn and move forward from her on her experiences. She inspires others by being honest and exposing her pain and experiences, which were unimaginable, yet she shares for others benefits and possible future warnings. Bravo.😢

RUclips is so bizarre and disgusting with their weird ass rules. We can hear the entire brutal story… but not the words “kill himself”? That’s what we’re too sheltered to hear? Complete insanity, it’s insulting to reality, to the victim here (and others in their own stories), and to us as adult listeners. It’s just bizarre.
I thought exactly the same thing. You can say murder but you can't say rape? Who makes these rules up?

@@yvonnewilson2242I can vouch for both as suffered with bouts of both extreme fatigue and insomnia after years of SA in my early teens
My heart breaks for this girl. I have never been in an abusive relationship. Nothing like this so I cannot speak from experience. How am I from Cherry Hill my whole life and I don’t think I know this case or I don’t think I do.

I work with adults who have been abused as a child, and there is nothing more demeaning for an abused child to hear people they love and trust tell them, 'You are lying,' or 'I don't believe you.' so the video had no problem saying he would kill her, but had a problem saying that he would then kill *himself* ? So, murder is ok to talk about, but not suicide? Is this where we need to go as a society? So many videos also don't allow us to hear or read the words *rape* or *abuse* , either. If we cannot talk about it, how can we solve the problems?
You should never tell your child " i don't believe you" in cases like this. Even if they are lying cause if they're telling the truth, then it should be pretty obvious what to do, and if they're lying, then there's probably something else going on in their head and should probably get therapy.
