I watched line 6’s actual RUclips bass release video and your video goes way more in depth. I own a sans amp and i think it doesn’t sound like it at all, but I’ll definitely buy it for the other amp simulators.
Hello Emily. Great video review of this pedal, it seems like an "all in one" with great features. You can notice the great quality of the sounds, I don't like the fact that it's made of plastic. Thank you for sharing and your work with this video. Greetings from Spain 🇪🇦
Well done, don't worry about some of the critics... its NOT about your playing, or style. IT iS about the product, which u went through fairly extensively.. iv seen 6 other demo's of this pedal, U, by far, have done the in-depth. Anderson's was their usual knob twiddling , with no prior product knowledge.. Well Done
Thanks for spending time and effort for doing this video and putting yourself out there. It’s helping me decide whether to buy. One knock (sorry) is your mention of “B Sheee-Han” suggests maybe you don’t know who he is. If that’s the case you must go learn about the bass master!
FANTASTIC demo!!! This looks like so much fun! I definitely see this as having something for everyone, so it should be a slam dunk for Line 6. That price point is crazy for the quality of sound and features!
I have been going through the review on this, and like it a lot. I do wish it was able to have a mod affect alongside a reverb or delay. Great review. Subbed.
Very nice review! Stereo unbalanced outs pretty much tells me that bass is more of an afterthought. Clearly guitar was how they prioritized the features and then they figured they might as well make some money from bass players. No bassists use stereo but if they had made the out balanced (or even put XLR) it would be a great solution for gigging. Being unbalanced forces you to use a DI. A bit of a missed opportunity.
I’m sure Pedalnetics is working on some svelt footswitch accessories for this product line. Such a killer little pocket rig. I’m a Helix power user and I am absolutely going to buy this thing when budget allows.
You def have to play to the synth effects, single notes and really clean attack, flats are the best, rounds products high harmonics that effect the tracking.
Hope you like it! No pressure, but if you like ordering from Sweetwater, I do have an affiliate link in the video description: sweetwater.sjv.io/PodExpressBass
The synth mode tracks better with a bridge pick up for definition, with a middle or neck pick up it will start to break more easily. POD have always put clever budget pedals. Thanks for your demo.
Awesome demo 😎🎸🤘🏻 this multi-effects pedal sounds pretty cool. The amp models sounded great. I personally like the grit, vintage, punch, and modern amp models. I like the distortion effects, but I am disappointed about the distortion model. I would have expected to be modeled after a high gained distortion effect like the mxr m80 bass d.i plus or a darkglass b3k microtubes. I also like the modulation effects. I personally like the chorus and flanger effects. The compressors sound nice and the synth effects sound fun. I normally don’t use synth effects live, but I would use it for experimental Recordings. Overall, this is a great multi-effects pedal.
Hey there, Emily. A quick question for you. Do you know if the bypass on this pedal is a true bypass or buffered? Nice review, by the way! Very thorough. Cheers!
I think I would actually buy one of these for guitar, use it for recording bass tracks standalone, and then turn off the amp sims and set up the compressor, octave to be additional pre-effects for the guitar one.
I might do a short about that, but my calendar is pretty packed, which would make it tough to get a full video out for the footswitches. Perfecto de Castro might have covered that in a video, though. But it's pretty simple to set up. I'd have to look at the manual again, but you enter global settings, turn the amp knob to the last and second-to-last circle segments (iirc, please double check before doing that) and press the amp knob until the color of that segment matches the effect bank you want to turn on or off. The only downside is that it IS a global setting, so that's how it'll work for all presets. Personally, I'm most likely to toggle gain on and off, so that's what I'd have it control, along with synth.
Nice demo. I have a whole pedalboard so it's not for me but at that price point, I wouldn't be surprised if this got recommended a lot. My alpha omicron cost almost twice as much as this...
Does Playing LINE 6 POD make anyone else really happy? LINE 6 POD is quickly becoming my favorite pedal. It's just so beautiful and sexy. Practically free and the second you drop her on the board that chill ass mofo gives you a Rich Dark Gushing Robust tone.. And you also get this cute little 1/1 feedback response usually too harmless to be forgotten. But more than that, the Line 6 Pod is just so positively alluring. It comes on the board like "do you want to cast a spell?" and I'm like "yeah Line 6 Pod i do want to cast a spell let's do this shit" and when she attacks she's like "SPELLS ARE FUN" and I'm like "yeah they are SO FUN." She doesn't say some bullshit macho shit like "I will destroy you" she's just like "nah spells are fun and voodoo spooky.” And she looks so happy. I mean this is an inanimate object that literally brought my guitar to life by magic. It understands it's life is a temporary magical gift and the dude is just fucking loving it. I mean just look at her face she’s just so happy and cute as a button. I am literally never sad when Line 6 Pod is on board. IDK if she's gonna ever make it into the pedal HOF or not, but for now she a super dope chill pedal.
If Line 6 had added a Pitch Shifter to this I'd snap one up in an instant. However, without one, it can't replace my Zoom B1 Four, sadly. (With a Pitch Shifter it would be the perfect fly rig in terms of form factor, ease of use, battery operation, availability dual outputs.)
@@GetOffset Many thanks for the tip, I will check them out. EDIT: so I checked them out, and the fact that the pitch shifter is available electronically possibly means Line 6 COULD have added Pitch Shift to the POD Express Bass. How I wish they had! Maybe when V2 comes out in 4 years from now :)
I am baffled that L6 does not allow some adjustment for the active to be 1 up and the strings to be tighter for triggering rather than swelling like it does stock - that is really a red flag for me since they allow so many other adjustments on this thing.
@@GetOffset no, I meant a DI circuit to get a balanced XLR output. I just received my express bass today. My only issue is that the presets are difficult to find using the footswitch. Basically, I can go from preset 1 through preset 21 but I don't see any visual confirmation that you actually locked in on the one you want. Just hoping you are counting footswitch clicks to go from preset to preset. Do you know of a better way? I am playing with it tomorrow but only using 4 presets using 1-4. I hate to think about what I would do if I needed a 5th preset and it was preset number 20. I'm sure I would lose count. Any ideas?
@@GetOffset Thanks so much for responding. I used the new pedal for our worship service this morning and it did it's job. I can certainly change the presets with the pedal while playing live like you say above. So I am thinking that I may want to create a couple of presets that work for most things and use FS3 and FS4 for enabling/disabling "distortion" and "modulation/delay". I figure I will always use a compressor but less likely to use "synth" anyway. Then have the fs3 and fs4 switches on the floor and maybe the pedal on a music stand to make tweaking easier.
