    The youngest artist that night, only 16, and one of the best performances that year. She was brilliant looking and singing on stage.

      @@morbidsearch correct, the rule where you had to be 16 on the night was introduced in 2003

    In my opinion by far the best entry. Very mature performance and in no way can I tell that she is only 16 and 1/2 years old here.

    I loved when each country sang in their own language. And I remember this song giving me goose bumps. In fact Italy gave 12 points ;)

      Yes: some other countries also gave her high marks. The United Kingdom gave her 10 points, and Denmark, France and Ireland gave her 8 points.

      @@sebastiaanm9122 Unfortunately, previous rules led to The UK, Ireland, and Malta always being in top 5 or close by, because everyone could understand them. I am also in favor of hearing more languages in ESC, but it can't be forced. This year's results are perhaps a positive sign of other languages gaining a momentum.

    Beautiful, should have won back then. Estonia is the best eurovision country and it has my favorite language, please sing in it more often. love from Poland

      I felt she should have won in '96 , I prefer that song to Eimear Quinn - but this year the competition was too fierce , I reckon she'd have been good for 4 points this year in my ranking (7th)

    Such a lovely song, beautifully performed. Check up the translation to the lyrics as well, it will give you a deeper experience when listening to the song!

    That's was best Estonia entry imo and year before in duet colour of her voice is priceless so light and powerfull same time . but it was glorious times of of esc so many great vocalists and compositions live music orchestra not what start in 1999 more and more poor and cheap esc

    The best song in Eurovision 1997. The more I listen to it the more I like it. Estonia should have won that year.

      1997 was such a strong year that had so many winning candidates. I'd like to see Turkey, Italy, Estonia, Spain, Poland, Greece, Cyprus winning, too. 😍

    Lovely song and a wonderful voice. This would have done so much better in a lower quality year. 1997 really was a great year.

      It is the Eurovisioon Song Contest! These songs are well orchestrated and performed! The past 20 years it's all about light show, wind machines, dodgy fashion .... and all that hair! Most of the songs are so similar and easily forgettable!

    I ve always thought that Estonian is one of the most melodic languages in the world alongside Italian.

      Understandable. Actually I think it's because both Estonian and Italian have long vowels, and melodically this sounds more pleasant, because it seems the language follows the music better.

    Political circus nowadays, political circus 27 yrs ago looking at what mediocre stuff the EBU provided a robbed 1st place for...😄 ! And the astonishing beauty of this masterpiecing song still is the best proof of that after so long time !!

      I wouldn't call 8th in a field of 25 nowhere, especially given this was a very, very strong year. So strong I struggle to put together a top 25!

    Hyvä sävel, hyvä laulaja. Ilmeisesti laulu kertoo kyllästymisestä mieheen nimeltä Mikso (liekö Mikso nukahtanut kesken aktin), koskapa kohdassa 1:45 - 1:58 neitonen laulaa ihan suomeksi pehmeällä ja kauniilla äänellään: "Voin kylmää kyrvälle heittää. Ei tunne Mikso. Ei kuule, ei näe."

      @@Toni-oy1vq not really like compare that or Fly on the Wings of Love or Celine Dion's song to Netta or this years sex obsessed Italian rockers. Eurovision used to produce decent songs back then. Both melodic and meaninful.
