Things that you might need to consider: 1. Try to format the card inside the phone before usage. 2. Try shutting the phone down before installing microsd card (the device might not properly support hotswapping). 3. Sandisk colored black and white ones were not the fastest SD card try the red ones or Samsung pro or the evo microSD. 4. Try enabling multithreaded file copy of ES File Explorer. I might not own any Poco but slow writes might be an indication of a failing or incompatible microSD. Your unit might be at fault here, try using another Poco to know if the issue was not isolated to your unit.
Just need to format the SD card before usage. If the SD card is formatted on a pc/laptop then choose FAT32 or ext4 that's it. Poco F1 supports hot swapping of SD cards and Sim cards. I've been using the Poco F1 from the launch day and no issues whatsoever.

I don't have any problem transferring files from internal storage to SD card..i do it everyday bro..maybe it has something to do with you phone specifically..
I was also facing similar issue with shareit app. The phone got hang completely for sometime. But in my case, phone went back to normal later without reboot

You can't expect flawless software from a 300$ phone. At least not yet... I have noticed that a lot of budget android phones suffer from bad software development. However thank you VERY much for the honest review and the information you provided. It really helps showing if a supposed "bang for buck" is worth it. And hey, if you really hate those bugs, it's using a SD845, soooo... Just put a custom ROM on it!
SD cards have micro controller firmware, did you change brands of card. also copy files around internally and check speed, then do same on SD card (p.s. is hot swapping the card permitted)
This issue is with every poco phone i have checked in many units.when u copy a big file above 500 mb then this problem definitely occured and Xiaomi had no attention towards this.

bro i m facing Screen freezing issue? sometimes its stuck on screen. then the touch screen is stucked. then I have to lock and unlock the device using power button. then the screen is absolutely fine and working good. No its fine screen bleeding is usually due to some light escaping between display n screen at bezel side due to curve it will not progress further However it Depends on viewer perception if u r not satisfied than get it exchanged
Before couple of years ago almost every LCD phone had some sort of bleeding. Nobody complained. Now a budget phone has a minor one everybody nit-picking. Look at PC monitors. Horrible screen bleeding in budget ones.
Actually bro that happens when you transfer big data from phone to sd card. If your data is within 1gb it works fine otherwise it starts hanging even this happens in redmi note 4

surely its a miui bug...hope xiaomi fix this with ota... i had issues on redmi note 4 too.. but my problem is solved with es file explorer.. now i m on custom rom.. so can't test now... i think miui had this bug since years.. its now became worse maybe...

In term of performance, as long as you're not receive the faulty device, i can say that you should keep the phone, it's amazing for the price. But you have to realize that this is not even a month old phone, so bug is expected and hopefully they will fix it in the next software update

I think it is a ui bug, I tried the same thing copied 1 gb file from sd card to internal storage, no issues maybe it's because I'm using miui 10 and the bug is fixed.

At the same time put some light on file system. Copying files to different file system may cause lag. Its not just this phone it would lag in other phones also.. Try transferring file from the PocoPhone to your computer hard drive. I think this will clear the issue if it is your phone or sd card fault.
You just wait til the transfer is finished, don't keep on touching home button while it's transferring the files..
