It is so nice to hear someone speak positively about a camera instead of the usual moaning. Can you imagine the OM Sytem OM-5 is the best all-round camera for me?
I have been using the Fuji XT2 for several years and found it to be the perfect kit for traveling. I upgraded to the X T50 recently and have had a great deal of enjoyment using it with a prime 23mm lens. The X T5 has several other features, but have found for my photographic needs that I have not needed them. Yes, weather proofing would be nice, but a shower cap works just fine. The saving between the two bodies went toward a prime lens. As always, enjoy your videos.
When I started taking photos again, I bought an old X-T1 and i liked it immediately, so I ended up buying the X-T5 later. And it’s just such a nice piece of engineering!
You’re giving away all the secrets 😂. This camera got me back into photography. 23mm f2 has been a workhorse. Simulations unlocked so much creativity. I might need a silver lens!
Great video - I'm still rocking my X-T4 but someday may upgrade to an X-T5 - When I go out and shoot with the X-T4 I also like to pair it with the Konica Hexar RF rangfinder film camera. The Konica is the pinnacle of m mount analog rangefinders, and I like switching off between the 2 cameras sometimes taking the same shot twice just to see how each method works or doesn't work.
Hey Josh! Love the vibe and camera of choice, quick note the audio feels like it's mainly through the left channel from the DJI. Your videos always get me hyped for photography and considering a Fujifilm 😅
I love my X-T5, I definitely think Fujifilm can prioritize improving the auto focus a bit more as well as the processor. If you take a lot of shots in a short period of time, the camera begins to chug a bit and when working with a model for example, if you just fired away a good amount of consecutive shots and switch to the gallery to show the model how’re they’re looking, it takes a while to buffer and scroll through the photos. For most cases, like street photography and more laxed shooting environments this can be avoided but there’s definitely room for improvement there. I also agree that the ibis can be improved, but none of the issues I mention are enough to say the camera isn’t worth a purchase. I highly recommend this camera to anyone who wants the vintage aesthetics and more tactile shooting experience. It also helps that the lenses and ecosystem are cheaper than Sony & Canon
Josh, as someone stated earlier, it's great hearing someone say something positive about a camera, any camera will do. I'm a long-time Fujifilm street photographer. My primary Fujifilm line of cameras has been the X-Pro line although I've shot the X-E, X-T, and X-H line of cameras. The X-Pro has always been my favourite especially the X-Pro3. I was a bit disappointed that the X-Pro4 wasn't released this year but it is what it is. My X-T5 lookalike camera of choice these days is the Nikon Zf. Didn't originally think I'd like that camera but I've had it since December and it has become my primary camera for portrait shoots and travel. My daily street camera is the Leica M10-R with the Nikon Zf depending which city I'm in. If you've never shot the Nikon Zf, you should try it. It might make you put the X-T6 down. Happy shooting mate.
Good video again, enjoyed the images. Been using Sonys for around 9 years now and though I don’t use them for street too much (x100s/x100v/Q3) there’s an advantage to be able to change your settings whilst looking through the viewfinder and not have to take your eye off the scene.
@@frame-lines Can I ask what AF setup you use? I'm really struggling to find a system that works for me, I currently am trying center point tracking and then recomposing. Thanks again for the reply!
I found your content via the X-T50 video you made with Fuji. What are your thoughts on the X-T50 relative to the X-T5 ??! Thank you and love your videos!
Thanks for this Josh - really enjoyed it! It would be great if you could do a film on how you set your X-T5 up for video. I guess I’m in the position you were where I’m afraid to take the leap in to video…
I like a deep grip. Wish Fuji put the X-H1 grip on the X-T5. I tried the Fuji accessory grip and was not crazy about it. Settled on the Smallrig grip which I liked better. And it has the slotted baseplate for the quick release on my tripod. Which grip did you settle on?
That was interesting. I have just moved from an X-E4 to an X-S20 which in some ways is a small X-T5. For me the middle ground of the E4 and T5 feels like the right choice for my occasional hobby use of photography and a dabble in video.

Great vid. I'm still using an XT3. I noticed you have a capture clip. How do you find it? Do you think it's still useful for small cameras with small lenses? Thanks
Great vid! I have an Xpro2/S5iiX - but I want something powerful for photo... Looking at the XT5/ACii Argh choices.... Where did you get the brolly from?
This video is really tempting me to get an X-T5! I already own the GFX 100s II but would love a smaller Fuji camera to walk around with. May I ask what silver lens is attached to your camera?
That is the 23mm F2, I switch between that and the 35… I think in a lot of situations the 40mp sensor on this isn’t massively different to the 100mp, just a bit less dynamic range
As usual, your stills are stellar Josh. Such a good eye! Not sure what's going on with Fuji tho. Like the infamously unobtainable X100 series, the APS-C XT-5 is also on backorder at B&H. Buyer's should consider the Lumix S5ii for only $100 more. It features a full-size 35mm sensor with killer IBIS. Seems like a no-brainer! 🙂
@@frame-lines what you are doing with the XT-5 is fantastic. But thats mostly you! Not the camera Josh! Respect. Unfortunately, Fuji cams are not available, so the Lumix is a great alternative. And as mentioned, that Nikon Zf is sexy AF, but closer to the $2K point.
I'd literally just ordered a used one 15 minutes before you released this vid. Sold a lot of other kit, downsized, freed up some money, blah blah... and now you're going to think I'm copying you!
That's how I feel about the X-T3, don't do video so ibis is not important for me, 40 megapixels is also overkill. It's just a lovely camera I can take anywhere and get great images. The 35mm f2 is a mainstay but am eyeing up a 16mm or 18mm, starti g to love wide images. Where did you get the lenshood, it maybe over the top but it is very cool!
Great images, as always. Besides having a great eye, the color in your photos really pops without being over-the-top. The closest I've seen to Kodachrome. Is that a recipe or are you doing that in Lightroom?
Two things: can you do a video for your video settings? And also, have you updated the firmware at all? I have the latest one on my X-T5 and I have terrible AF still
Firstly - yes definitely, will do it when the weather improves. And no I haven’t updated yet, although I mainly do it manually tbh - it had no issues today tracking my face whilst shooting this
For me, AF in these types of cameras (non-rangefinder) is the top feature. If it's rubbish, it's off to the bin, so even though it might be more complicated to do initial set up, The Sony A6700 or A7R V is the bar. It's a damn fine hammer that, if you do spend time setting it up, will nail (get it?) each project. And I'm already using my own color profiles, so no need for Fuji Sims.
I defently agree the fuji is a nice camera. I try to have it with me all the time and with the 35mmf2 its a really compact formfactor. But there are some things that could be improved, like the AF-C, camera showing green square and not beeing in focus. I would love to have some of dials to be lockable, like the exposer correction or the mode dial
I bought an XT-50 last month, largely on the basis that it was slightly smaller than the XT-5. Still wondering if I made the right decision and this video isn’t helping!

Im always changing my shutter speed by hand on my leica and having to turn on the camera and then look through the viewfinder to see my settings has single handedly made me not want to take the camera out
