I've been using the Fujifilm XM-1, which I bought in 2023 second hand for a little less than EUR200, and it's been an amazing experience! I'm super excited about the XM-5! The only thing that might take some getting used to is the fully flipping rear screen, as I'm used to the tilting screen on the XM-1. But with the added bonus of a touchscreen, I think it'll make the experience even better.
Despite hoping for a tilt screen I just ordered one from you guys because I'm loving my X-S20(and the X-M5 seems to be an S20 mostly!). I bought my X-E4 from you, then sold it to fund the Lumix S9; from you guys again. This X-M5 is going to replace the S9 (too bulky with L mount lenses) and my old X-M1 which will be gracefully retired to 'on the shelf'. Thanks Gareth, another great video which helps us click 'Buy Now'. :)
@@tshiring7 Yes, one reason I bought the S9 but too late I've sold it now. I wish these camera firms wouldn't 'release' products until they actually have them!
I appreciate the marketing tactics and innovation of Fujifilm , they mix and match sensors with processors to deliver very capable cameras , my only criticism was the video autofocus, but it seems they are addressing the issue with firmware updates which also why I praise Fuji. I think the xm5 is a great hit in the market considering its price.
Ive been super keen on sticking with Lumix and going for the S9 but the price and lens choice is off-putting. This offers pretty much all I could want for far less money. My first Fuji maybe...
I see this as a Fujifilm answer to the popular CANON G7X and the Ricoh GRiii which is highly compared to the x100v in terms of having a affordable camera that has film simulations too.
Great review!! One question, just like the x100v and its sisters, is it still possible to create NEW FILM SIMULATION RECIPES, in addition to the ones that come with the camera?
What film simulation/log you used during Vlog mode and Mic explanation section? Also, which one you recommend between zve10m2 and this for run and gun 4k60 filming?
This camera is undoubtedly eye-catching and would complement many aesthetics. Its construction suggests a focus on design rather than functionality. Those seeking a practical photography tool should consider alternative options. This piece serves primarily as a visual element, not a device for capturing images. Its value lies in its aesthetic appeal, not its technical capabilities.
On this idea that smart phone users will 'upgrade' to a 'proper camera' I took the time to ask a couple of guys who use smart phones at car meets and both said something this: 'If I was moving to a camera I'd like to have a viewfinder, and why would I upgrade to a camera with much smaller lower res screen.' That about sums up my opinion on this as well. We all know full well that a hi res camera image is going to get down sampled as soon as it's uploaded so it's not about image quality. I was that person looking to move from a smart phone to camera mid July 2023 and the real issue I had was giving up my bright large phone camera screen. Why are we stuck with 3" camera screens still in 2024. I am still very exciting about getting the X-M5 from you when the stock comes in though. Because I love using a camera. :)

Thanks David, that sounds great! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did 🙂
Sounds like a downgrade. X-S20 is better than even the X-T50 let alone the X- M5
LUMIX just released a fairly compact 18-40 Lens.

But S9 has full frame while XM5 doesn’t have? S9 produces better image and video?

Very very nice video buddy! Rock on!
informative review thanks Park Cameras.

Excellent review, thank you.
Why is the vlog footage so shaky 😭
Maybe DIS was off. You can turn it on to make the video more stableized
What lens are you using in this video.
Looks lovely and fun!
Great review!!

Yes. All fujifilm cameras can do this.
I’m having a hard time convincing myself to not sell my X100V to get this.
Try those new lenses!!!
very nice review 😊❤
This is better than the S9. Full stop.

Auto Focus is quite special!!!
The shaking of the background in the vlog scene is really terrible
Could only see myself using it w/ the 27mm pancake.. Anything else is like, uh..... Interesting camera tho. Might get one to replace my broken XF-10.
Oh yeah, SUBSCRIBED !
I agree. Feels like a spiritual successor to all the compacts they use to make. X70, XF10, XM1, XA series.
Pls compare it with XE 4
Yes, I’m in agreement
Does it shoot 4:2:2 4k 60fps?
correction: hoodie is now called the Unabomber outfit. 😅😅😅
How to shoot in direct sunlight without an EVF?
That is only issue I found.
Does Fuji provide an option of EVF accessory?
my iphone pro looks way more stable in video
You can turn on DIS to make it more stable lmao that's why it was shaky
Ois yok çünkü
How can you shoot still without an evf?

Weather sealed ?
Nope.
In this demographic, better off with an iphone.
