I wish that Style selected allowed the client to choose the design anonymously, as in they don't find which girl designed which design til after they choose.
I agree! The experience of having them choose in front of them is kind of awkward. But they would need to explain the vision. Maybe by writing a blurb or something like that?
But they have to explain their designs!!

Allegedly that's how it happens. The client picks one design BEFORE they get there, so they can buy the furniture all the stuff for the makeover.

Dear Sorry Girls: take the electrical outlet covers off first, cut the holes slightly small than the covers (now that they are removed, you can use them to measure/outline), install the brick, and then put the outlet covers back on. Depending on thickness, you may need a longer screw than before.
yeah the round holes in the wood over the outlets looked sloppy.
Also ladders aren't that expensive. How about you get one? And why would you wear nice clothes when working with power tools. This is just stupid.
@@bridgidthepirateelf4135 I agree the clothes thing is kinda ridiculous but the ladder one is pretty easy. The Sorry Girls live in Canada and this room makeover takes place in the US so you can't expect them to bring a ladder on a plane. But maybe the homeowners should have had one.

The brick looked extremely sloppy too. Like the edge where they started it should have been cut down to make it look more flush and realistic. It'd drive me crazy if that was my room.
The vibe of everything comes together perfectly and I really love it but... the circle cut outs with the rectangular face plates just ain't it

yes! they are never using enough safety precautions. open hair, flared pants. bad role models for little kids
The tradional pants of carpenters in germany are flared actually, so that the saw dust won't enter the shoes. But those are work pants which are made so be stiff. So that they won't flop around. Also I totally agree concerning safety precautions, especially since they are setting an example. (Excuse english, I'm german)

I really like how the place turned out, I wasn't convinced at first but you did it really well! I'm absolutely disgusted by the dog poop though. I don't understand why she didn't clean it before you arrived, I wouldn't let other people come to my house and work for me in a room with DOG SHIT in it. She should be ashamed of herself.
The plywood made the room look so much smaller, and the circle cut outs aren’t large enough for the whole outlet and light switch. Makes it such an eyesore 😩
The circle cutouts over the rectangle outlets would DRIVE ME CRAZY lol. I totally think they should of went with the black shelving unit.

If you’re having a hard time with a stud finder try moving it up or down on the wall and try again! It’s searching for the metal nails in the studs and not the studs themselves so you might just be in the wrong spot.

Overall it looks nice and I do like that clothes are bringing in the colours BUT I think Kelsey's wall choices would've been better (mustard painted walls and 1 faux brick wall). The plywood doesn't look good to me.
Can we talk about how every time they do manual labour they are so well dressed, if that was me I’d be in a big T-shirt, old jeans and a big messy bun 😂😂😂

I HATE that they didn’t put the effort in to cut out rectangles in the plywood for the outlets and switches like they did for the faux brick!! Literally can’t stand it when shapes don’t match up 😖 and yes this upsets me more than the dog shit on the floor, and that’s saying a lot.
Like I’m not trying to be mean. But it did me too. You came all the way from Canada to put circles on rectangle outlets. It looks so bad. It feels like the whole room was just half assed.
It would be cool if they made circle outlet covers to fit in the hole. Or like paints the circle cutouts. I think it looks cool though.

I love the white brick wall on Kelsey's design...The shelves on cement blocks looked cool on Becky's design. The mustard color wall paint and the wood on lower walls from both. And the rugs and ottoman looked cute. The Mirror she had was Huge, and Beautiful!

Beautiful makeover as always. The brick wall turned out amazing, also the closet and shelves were all spot on. Looove the lights, but I need a tip on how to straighten the wires like they were in inspo. I so want to try the lights out

Hey ladies. Love the channel. Quick tip. Electronic stud finders check the density of the wall. So if the insulation is thicker it will light up. Using a heavy magnet to find the metal drywall screws work better in most cases. I use this in my line of work. Much better. Tho if you have plaster walls the magnet won’t work as well if there is chicken wire in the wall. Just a helpful time. Keep on rocking.

She probably own the apartment. Either way though, all they really did was put some holes in the wall that could be patched later, nothing permanent.
I can't say for this place, but in apartments I've been in, some will let you paint or drill and some won't. The apt I currently have says all the drillholes in the world are fine, but don't paint. It's kinda weird actually cause idk if they expect people to think of putting a whole wall of faux bricks 🤔🤣
Beautiful room! It looks a lot like my first apartment! I was a teenager and young woman in the 70’s. You really hit the style mark with this room! The only exception, it’s a small one, is a lot more plants! The 70’s was a call to be more natural so plants, being alive, were everything! Good job ladies, bravo! 💖💖💖

The whole energy of this video felt off to me, even the testimonials filmed afterwards felt a bit lackluster. Usually the girls are so excited about their designs but they just sounded bored 🤷♀️

Here's a gal who's amazing about home remodeling (she purchased a home just like you have and rehabbed it with a little help from male family members, the stuff where she needed a little more expertise? (honestly I think she could have figured it out without a male relative!)

The end result is so fucking fantastic. At first I was sceptical about doing both the wood and the brick wall, but it is absolutely stunning! And those lights so good!

Yeah, I was born in 1980, so I have plenty of baby pictures of my myself in an 70s style appartement...looked nothing like that.
But, I mean, they must have done some research on this, surely....so maybe it’s a regional thing 💁🏻♀️
You two are SO skilled. Merging ideas is such a challenge, but you dealt with it and made the best combination.
I think if they removed the carpeting and let it be wooden floor or marble that would’ve been better

It all looks so cute. I wish you would have used the cinder block shelf idea in the closet instead though. That would have been so cute. And I think a tapestry would look good on the wall above the mirror to cover up the chords.

Gorgeous room! Tip on getting those light cords to sit neat and unwrinkled.. Blast them with a hairdryer.. It hot enough to warm up the plastic on the cords so that they smooth out but not hot enough to melt or damage the cords..

Pro tip for finding studs: check either side of a plug, there will almost always be a stud immediately to the left or right. The boxes for plugs and switches need screwed into wood on either a side or the back. Since plug placement usually isn’t that important, the fastest and easiest way for the electrician to install the box is to screw the side of the box into a stud. Once you find one stud, studs are usually every 16” on center. Time is money for trades, so this works at least 99% of the time. You can also try measuring from one of the corners, but that’s not nearly as reliable (depends which side they’re measuring from and what end they started with, among other things).
Please screw the mirror into the wall 😅 things that tall and heavy, especially glass, should be bracketed into the wall. Even if there aren’t frequent earthquakes there. Just bumping into it or even hitting the other wall too hard could cause some serious damage.

I love everything about the room but...I have a “thing” about cords showing. I have a hard time with the new “cord hanging lights style”. I want to love it so badly but I must have an “ocd” when it comes to cords showing. 😆
