Welcome back to Upgrade My Stay, a show where we tackle vacation rental spaces that need a little Sorry Girls love and a whole lot of decor and DIY. Today we are heading up to Mono, Ontario (a town about an hour north of Toronto) to meet Ellen and Joey! Ellen and Joey have owned their Yurt for 15 years and are looking for our help to give it a style boost while adding a more defined kitchen area, more lighting, a cozy seating area, and more!

I also appreciated, along with the hosts, that you kept their sense of style and didn't insert things that wouldn't belong with that style. You two seem really talented at adapting to different styles that exist in a space and improving on them, even if it's a more subtle upgrade and not an all out makeover (which we know requires a big ol' budget that may not be there.)

At first I wasn't sure how much of an impact those little changes were going to make overall, but I guess it goes to show that sometimes you don't need to knock down walls or paint to get an amazing impact!
Organizing where things go does help. Definitely proved that.
Yeah I think the position and layout can make the biggest difference of all! I totally know i would be able to think of everything they did but it made such a big improvement

I love that the girls took criticism from the previous eps and concentrated more on the context too - the owners, what they want, design ideas etc. Tbh I think style selected series were better than upgrade my stay but now I have faith this will be just as good 💕
yes! that's one thing I can't fault them for, they take constructive criticism so well and continue to make better content. they don't brandish it as hate. much love to them for that!
This is my favorite video so far. The makeover was great but i loved how fun and genuine your friendship was shown.

Tip from a scout leader who has seen people chop into their knees instead of the wood: always keep a wide stance when chopping. Feet far apart, but not not one in front of the other. Safety first! 😄

This was the best Upgrade my stay yet. I liked that you seemed more natural and like you are in other videos. Also the intro with what they wanted was a great add. You did a great job of using their stuff, too, like you do every time. Really really great.
This is the coziest video ever. Not just because the space is extremely cozy, but also the camera work, color- and video editing was so beautiful and calming and you guys drinking tea and ice skating made it feel like we were on a camping trip with you

I wasn't able to say all the things I love about the makeover on camera, but I truly love the kitchen sitting space, the wall hook set up, sitting chairs and the lighting makes a huge difference. The lights are so pretty at night time and bright as well. We have had a great response from our guests since the makeover. I have to say this has been the highlight of our year so far. Working with you was so fun and you were all so considerate and respectful of our needs and space. We are grateful to have the opportunity to learn so much from this amazing makeover. You are both so talented! Love the shots on the pond and firewood chopping! Phew! Glad no limbs were cut off! We will be watching your channel and share this with others! You are welcome to come and stay during the quarantine!

What I like about this series is, even though it has to be staged for it to work, it doesn't feel over sentimental. You don't "hug" your hosts like long lost friends who then jump and and down like over excited (bad) actors. So many of these types of show normally portrait this and it feels really fake. Your ideas are easy to replicate and function well for each space and home owner. Great job. :)

This episode was so much easier to watch. I’m so happy one of you didn’t act completely surprised about the property in the beginning and had the owners involved in the video. The flow was much improved. Great job! The yurt looked awesome too!
This is such a wonderful video. Not only do I think your personalities, humor and the fun you have came to shine more than in any other video before, but the DIYs and makeover were so minimal, but you understood their style perfectly and they clearly really loved it. Loved this style of video so much - i definitely preferred the voice over explanations to the confessionals and the way you talked through everything. There were a couple of slow points (axe chopping was fun but long) but in general I think you've done an amazing job taking on everyone's feedback on the first 2 episodes. I have been struggling so hard to not watch your guises videos for two whole months and now I have so much content to binge and I am so excited it’s gonna take me like two weeks to binge all this content I’m so happy
This was a beautiful makeover and had a lot of hacks for small spaces. I still think this series would do so great with a confessional at the end from the folks who had their stays upgraded. A place they can talk to the camera or each other about how they felt so that the pressure of interacting with the Sorry Girls is off and we can hear how they feel. Like here, they weren't even able to see the kitchen because they didn't move around, but that was her main request! Thanks for the videos :D
I didn’t have any negative comments for the previous episodes because my thoughts had already been said and you didn’t need any more of that - but you took all those other comments on and this is such a more polished episode! The space came out really cozy and lovely, and the episode felt like a travelogue because they showed how nice the whole property is and introduced the owners. This really advertises the place! Surely a lot of people now want to go :-)
I don’t know if I’m crazy. But sometimes I sense an awkward tension between Kelsey and Becky. Like it sort of feels like they aren’t really good friends anymore but they’re civil for the channel

I thought so for a while too, but realistically they're probably just getting older and their friendship is naturally changing and evolving. They aren't two college students sharing a dorm anymore, they are two adults that own a business and are in their own homes now. I'd say they're still friends but... More adult

The difference in awkwardness levels is because usually when they are designing a space for someone, that person is a RUclipsr themselves so they are used to being in front of a camera and/or have large personalities. These are normal people who do not know how to act in front of a camera. I felt a similar level of awkwardness when they did the style selected makeovers for Beckys friend and the one for Kelsey’s sister.

I feel like I really, desperately NEED one of those long cushions. Could you do a more detailed DIY video about it? I know it's pretty self explanatory, but do you turn it inside out? What thread did you use? What to do if it's too wide, do you just roll it round the pillow? I would LOVE to se a more in depth video.... I NEED IT

I think what I'm finding on this series is that Canadians are very soft spoken. they looked like they really loved it but they're voice were so soft. y'all did a good job with the yurt I'm sure the hosts' loved it!

This is definitely the best Upgrade My Stay episode so far! I love how you girls are so resourceful #goals! I also love how you girls took some time off the makeover and enjoyed what the stay has to offer. I think it gives a better insight of what unique about each stay. I felt a little bit sad when the kitchen area wasn't mentioned because I think it looks wonderful. Great job girls!

Working so closely with someone creatively in a short period of time would be full of little snags and miscommunications but these two seem to just take it in their stride and understand one another even if they don’t necessarily agree 💝

This might be my favorite update my stay yet! I think I would have gone to town on the battery operated candles that have the timers in them. But I wouldn't know what to do with a round room!
