A green Countach is definitely a unicorn. This one needs to restored but that will be a huge project. I hope you can get it put together John.
It’s a mean, green, 80’s machine!!!
How does this Dude look like an Unwashed Bohemian in a Stretched unwashed Vee Neck shirt?
ryan reinhart that’s not a v-neck, it’s just stretched to hell
The 3rd time's the charm...!!! Seasons Greetings..!
@@justat1149 70's dumb ass
The old dude didnt want to get trolled, I can respect that..
Last time I was this early, Doug hadn't realized he was exactly that kind of Corvette owner.
The BEST storyteller I have ever listened to....I would watch him talk about his adventures for hours...!
John is quickly becoming one of my favorite storytellers on the channel. He really does a good job of expressing how special these cars are.
I love his calm and collected demeanour. His slick front, pony tail back, is just great!
Guy bought the Mona Lisa and painted on shoulder pads and big hair...
digiprez77 I seriously LOLed at this
Even the Mona Lisa wasn't the Mona Lisa until long after, before that it was just some girl.
Generally I like the 80s cars much more but in this case I agree. This thing should've stayed original.

A green Lamborghini is the perfect thing to put me in the Christmas spirit.
Happy Christmas Eve everyone! Tomorrow we will have a Christmas special with the story of the last running of The 2904. Have a great day.
VINwiki is the real Santa Clause
Merry not happy
@@davethevtwinaddict2151 I think maybe he's speaking to our UK friends :-)
right when I was worried my morning would be vinwiki-less, y'all upload a video 0 minutes ago. right on!!
yes! john is an amazing guest/storyteller
Man, if I had a dollar for every million dollar car that got away.... I would look at as many as I could.
I love this guy so much. When you look at him it's like who the heck is this sleezeball, but then he talks and is so knowledgeable and explains things so we'll that you can then believe he owns an amazing exotic car dealership. Seems like a nice guys. Good video!
I like his statement “we bought the car twice, but we didn’t pay for it.” I wish I could make purchases like that. The unique payment option described by him would open up some new possibilities, haha. Then I found out that it was a buying without buying. That almost like in “Enter the dragon” fighting without fighting uttered by Bruce Lee.
Love this channel
This guy is very professional. His politeness and understanding is supreme.
Merry Christmas ed! Thank you for a year full of stories
This is the first time I've seen John. His voice is very calming and he seems like a really authentic guy. I hope he finally gets that car ... but only when it's time.
love stories like this of historic cars that have been forgotten about or have gone missing over the years.
This guy seems genuine to the core & I like his stories.
The Verde Countach is beautiful! I hope it gets restored!!
I love that Green and the brown interior
what a cool story
i really hope there will be a follow up someday about acquiring and restoration ,of this beautiful example, to original
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Ed, Crew, & John!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone else too!
The real irony is the green prototype in the factory museum should actually be red.
It was red when they used it as a test car and was only painted green shortly before the factory sold it
It was the first Countach I got to see and photograph in real life , the prototype (London Motorshow, Bertone Stand 1974 ) It was green then and apparently was painted in a rush as the part of the side naca ducts on the doors was not painted black yet .Oddly is was easy to look closely at it because most of the other car enthusiasts were in a crowd around the Lotus stand looking at the new Lotus Esprit!
Hopefully vinwiki hits 1 million subs before the new year!
I enjoy these stories since I’m a big Lamborghini fan. I live in Florida so I need to make a trip down to see the dealer and all the beautiful cars. 👍🏼🏎🔥🏎🔥🔥🔥🔥
this guy always is great at telling stories
This can be red.
This can be green*
🤣🤣🤣
NPC514-3C sure but this can be red.
see what ya did there
Haha!
Love the stories.
Almost a mil subs
merry christmas ed and the team. been a great year.stay safe over the holidays
Buying stuff when you have no money is usually a problem!
The universe was telling you your voice was deeper than your pocket obviously
The universe didn’t tell him anything, his bank clerk did.
Lol true
The green over tobacco is just a perfect pairing imo.
I wanna see that green on a newer lambo
My wife and I saw the original factory twin at the Museum. Very cool to say the least!! Hopefully you end up with a third chance to buy this one!
I absolutely love John's tales, captivating right until the end, a genuine treat!
I like how John always wear Tee's of Iconic Bands of the past while shooting. What a tasteful person 😍
A story of a true tire kicker...
Yes because tire kickers are always willing to drop a $5000 deposit on a car they have no intention in buying.....
Lmao
morgan Webster the fuck?
He doesn’t have the money for such a car , yet he negotiates deals that he backs out of TIRE KICKER
@@MrSteveo114 failing to adhere to the terms he agreed upon after talking all that garbage about buying it is the ultimate dickbag tire kicker move.
I like the way this dude tells stories
You have to go under the skin to really appreciate the engineering of early Lamborghinis. The beautiful spaceframe of a Countach, the engine/gearbox/differential of a Miura. Love the story of this amazing LP400. Merry Christmas!
I just want to buy him some new shirts.
lol he probably told a bunch of stories in one day, thus the scorpions shirt
I have to admit, that car being a very early version, without the wheel arch flares and other body line distractions, reveals to true vision of Gandini, and looks downright MEAN! Just a nasty wedge that means business, no screwing around, no “flair flares”. Awesome. Verde just tops it off.
Thanks John....and less than 10k to 1M subs 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Countach content again...YES!!!!
John tells car stories like I imagine the apostles taught the bible. With passion and charisma.
But at least John is telling a true story.
@@77yogurt Touché!!!
This is awesome story
OH wow, I'm certain this is the car my friend bought! Small world. He is restoring it to it's original glory :)
Very cool! Does he have a RUclips channel or instagram account? I'd love to see the progress on it.
@@YippeeKiYayMrFalcon no he is a private guy. I too would love to see progress!
Not late for work cause I'm on vacation! Good to see ya'll aren't!
A Countach is a unicorn where I live, have not seen one in person, just the poster I used to have on my wall back in the day.
The wheel flares and front spoiler make it look WAY better.
love the shirt John. im a huge fan of scorpions
always cool to know a little bit of history
That car is super cool, i had a Lamborghini paperback featurette, had a dark green countach with alloys and no wing, super badass.
I was a child, very little. I was standing with my parents at a closed railway crossing in Siofok / Hungary, which was one of a few places we could go for vacation as a east german family. And exact this car stoped. It was a very young guy driving it and the car had a number plate from switzerland. I have it in mind like it was yesterday...
This guy is awesome
I remember a green Countach with gold wheels for sale in the Dupont Registry years ago , it was owned by Forbes. I'm sure it's sitting in someones nice garage.
That story was Noice....!
The yellow lincence plate the car had before going there is from Luxembourg, were I currently live. Pretty cool.
John Temerian said "exspecially". And I can't unhear it.
I live in a small town in North FL and I would love to know what town/city in North FL this car was in? I may have once ran across this same car??
Why does John look like the guy off of Maoui
Good morning! It is Christmas Eve! Have a wonderful Tuesday!
I love that green
This is the type of guy you take the pub , order a beer and an hour later you still haven’t touched it because the story he is telling you is that fascinating !! 😎😎😎😎😎
Never been so early
Ed bolian 👍👍👍
Merry Xmas-eve everyone! :)
A black lowbody Countach S.
Looks so nice in its clean lines, but I still say the coolest one in the world was the car in The Cannonball Run.
yep definitely...different roofline and all..lower not just in suspension
the coolest countach will always be the one that appeared in sunny in philly
If I had a tobacco interior I would schmoke it all up.
with weed lol.
And this is why we can’t have nice things
That green color is something else.
Only the SHREWDEST NEGOTIATORS will be this early!
benicio g'ro lol
@@EasyMac02 I was raised up in the Ed Bolian school of thought when I was an up-and-comer
Let’s get this channel to 1M before the end of this year. Share the video!
I love Johns stories
There is two types of people.
Those who like the original Countach LP400 from the mid 70s that clearly looks more refined, stylish and beautiful.
And those who like the absurd and crazy looking 80s one.
We'll certainly be right here to see this car come good. We're certain it'll come back to you, and we'll be waiting here to see it come back round again.
does anyone know the exact name of that green? I'm dying to know thats a awesome color.
Dupont - Sandstorm
Damn i love this guy. I wanna hear every single car story, down to a Ford Taurus. 💖💖
i fucking love john..my beloved story teller.
Idk if it's sold but recently there was a red over black Countach Periscopio for sale in the UK for about £950k. Beautiful car imported from Australia
I went to DD classics and sat in it!
I spoke with Seth at DD Classics about a Tahiti Blue 1984 LP500S that he took in on trade for this modified black LP400. The Tahiti blue Countach was well known in the car show scene in Europe, so the car is with that owner now.
I liked this video better thank the others!
Decades ago I had a book titled "Supercars". An early green Countach was on the cover.
the coolest countachs are the last releases in the late 80s with the better body, spoiler etc.
just paint one of those green if you really need to
T-Mass Agree to disagree. I like the look of the early models the best.
@@Skrenja Agree with both of you. If I had to have only one and never sell it it's be a last of the line UK spec 5000S AE. BUT in the world of classics when you think of what else was around at the time , a Periscopo is stunning. Remember in 1990 you had tons of cool looking cars but the Countach in 76 in Verde was.... like having a Samsung S10 in 2001
You gotta watch out for those LP400s with flares and spoilers, person I know was in the same car as John tries to buy in this video (albeit white) and the rear right axle snapped in two at 280kph and sent him through two oak trees, stopping half embedded in the third.
Bob Wallace a great mechanic who worked at the Lamborghini factory and developed lots of cars and motors and was also a Kiwi,he sadly passed away a few years ago rip
I like this guys stories
Wasnt the twin turbo countach supposed to be the coolest
the turbo is a special, not a true lambo, but they should have looked into producing it.what a beast that would have been.having been fortunate enough to drive a quattrovalve, they are all special cars.theres no other car like a countach!
Wouldn’t be click bait enough if they admitted a green Lambo isn’t that cool
@@MiniMotoAlliance its interesting, but it's not the coolest
I like this guy
Sooo, he finally got the car :D
Perceived value of a 20 year old Lambo is beyond my comprehension.
Indeed. $100K; YES! $1.2mil? Put down the crack-pipe. 😐
A decade ago they were worth shit.
The bubble is real.
@@blackshadow7192 this so much. People are pollishing turds these days and idiots buy those turds with a percieved value that is nothing near reallity.
Where is this 20 year old car.....this thing is pushing 50!
When this guy tells a story, I first click like and then I enjoy listening to him. :)
Wonder what happened to the car? Where is it now? Did the new owner restore it? We have questions.
You know how to tell a good story.
So..john ficarra"how top gear cheap car challenge really work" stories are gone to private...my guess is bbc claim/dispute it,any chance it will go live again??or anyone download it??or its just that my location got blocked?
i like it when the titles arent greatly exaggerated
When is John coming again?
A wonderful story, John! So poignant! It's these experiences that enrich us in non-material ways that are difficult to comprehend -- cannot be comprehended! -- on the basis of any profit / loss, success / failure metric. Many thanks for sharing!!
John talks about the Countach pt 22
I really like Johns stories, but I will be honest, I don't understand the way such seemingly trivial things like a color are worth so much money to people
Because to rich collectors these arent cars...they're a collectable item
Like baseball cards
They keep the car in a plastic cover, sometimes in a display case, it gets stashed away until a trade happens
Whys the rookie card worth more? When it's the same player on other baseball cards
@@daveshaw9344 yeah, I never understood that market either. You don't have to try and explain it. I know how it works, but I don't understand it because I value utility and modification of things to be the way I personally want them.
A good sense of auto history makes one easilly realize it *needs* those tacky flairs & spoilers tossed and put back to it's original '70s color. With all respect, automotive history is not trivial to some. And that's one rare, early, mthrfkr.
Well I enjoy his stories as well, but if I'm honest he's kind of an annoying story teller! lol may just be me?
I can appreciate when a car is part of history, but this one isn't really that important. Just used to be the only one that looks like the one in the museum.
1970s Countaches are way cooler than the ones from the 80's
you mean low body Countaches
WAYYY cooler.
@@roverwaters3875 Not really. The lp400S series 2 and a half was the last lowbody....They still made the Hi-body in the last half of the lp400S stage. Of course all lp500s and beyond are hi-body
His shirt looks like it never fits right
Gotta love the Scorpions "Lovedrive" shirt....what an epic album!!!
Perfect candidate for a Haines commercial
You're right. Definitely appears he could wear a size extra medium.
Goes quite well with the gold Rolex, tho...
I think the shirts are just old and those type of shirts are quick to lose their shape.
