Hi Techdoctor, this is a great video and everything makes sense. I get exactly the same problem after I installed the Google Playstore. My concern is that I can't get the device to be picked up in ADB (I have tried two Windows 10 computers I have available). The USB driver is installed and is picked up as an 'MTP USB device" in Device Manager. Surely there is another catch within Windows 10 so the device works below ADB? I am close to just buying another device

THANK YOU!!! You're a genius!! I had exactly the same problem with google play services and my Fire Stick vent completely dead endlessly booting in loop. Nothing helped until I found your post. I was ready to do factory reset, but because it did not fully booted it did not recognize remote, so it did not work. But following you're post I was not only able to fix it, but did not even had to use factory reset. FS started working again.

First and foremost top marks you're the guy always go to see who has hints and tips on anything related to Amazon fire stick. That being said, I recall you saying that people who don't want to lose their content can just do a factory reset. But they're stuck in a bootloop so the menu is not accessable. I do have a old fire pendaant that was stuck In a bootloop and will dig that out of the drawer and give this a shot. I'll update shortly let you know if this worked

Great post - had this issue a few weeks ago and found it to be the flexible adaptor between the stick and the tv. When I changed the adaptor all was good. Just to give another option 👍🏻
Yes same happen to me on firestike lite, just change the flexible adapter and work great now

Thank you soo much it worked! For those on Mac use 'cd /Users/(Name)/(Folder Location)/(Folder Name)/' then once you're in the folder where the adb file run './adb devices' and that should show your device. For every time he says to run a command starting 'adb' use './adb' instead. Everything else is the same, as he says if it doesn't work keep trying it eventually will.

Thank you for the great tutorial. It is very comprehensive. Unfortunately, this technique only works if the Fire Stick had been previously authorized to link with the computer. If not, you will not be able to open the ADB shell.

Thanks for the help tech doc. I had a new firestick 4k. would just show logo then black screen. With usb hooked to my pc...i went to command prompt and with the file downloaded from your link, I Save the adb files to my desktop in a folder name Launcher. Guys remember this part....you can change directory by then typing cd then space (cd ) ...then drag and drop folder fom desktop and that will open up the directory for you...then follow the doc steps. All I had to do was type reset instead of going through it all. Remember mine was just out of the box, so I did not have to worry about losing anything. hope this helps....thanks doc.

If it's constantly rebooting coz of bootloop, how is it that the adb connection doesn't get disconnected as its restarting constantly?

Great Job, I'm with similar situation but with different behavior , is not rebooting is just stuck in second screen (1st -amazon logo) , (2nd - Fire Tv ...) , so using the strategy of adb with my device connected , the command adb devices , don't show my device, list is empty. Any idea ?

I have a Fire TV Gen 3 (Pre-Stick. Square box attached to an HDMI dongle). I can see the FireTV logo when I attach it to a TV and provide power, so I assume there is still something there, but the key combo with the OTG to boot into safe mode doesn't work. I also tried connecting to it via adb (Windows and on Linux) and neither sees the device (tried multiple micro usb cables). Any ideas other than sending this back to Amazon?

So can we add the Google play store in your FL store on the 4k stick or is this what caused the boot loop, I know people were getting stuck in a bootloop on an update a few weeks ago, but was just wondering if it's safe to download Google play store, can't find the video on that, Ty
Great vid mate. You need to interrupt the boot cycle. I simply solved boot loop problem by pulling out power cord that plugs into 4k firestick then plugging power cord back in. You must make sure 4k firestick is still running, don't turn off mains power when you do this or this will not work, 4k firestick must be running. Good luck
If you pull the power cord out of the Firestick, how can the Firestick still run?
My daughters firetv is constantly looping. It is out of warranty and Amazon will not replace it.
She said she has not installed anything on it - It just stopped working.
I have tried your steps but I cannot see the device when it is plugged in with USB.
I even bought a 2-in-1 Micro USB to USB Adapter (OTG Cable + Power Cable) for FireStick and tried to press CTRL + ALT + MENU + PRINTSCREEN + I on bootup but that did not work.
Remote control does not work when I try to press Back + right side of wheel for 20+ seconds to get to reset menu.
Looks like that's the end of the road for me and this fire stick :(

I have this problem on a second generation fire tv cube it happened when I disabled the stock launcher had a power issue so when it tries rebooting it's stuck would this possible be the solution but I wouldn't know the command to fix the stock launcher

I just had this exact same problem. All I did was unplug it from the tv. Reboot my router. Plug it back in and let it reconnect. It's working fine now

i did all of this but when i reached the adb shell part it would say that no emulators were found so i dont know what to do now ???
my firestick is not authorized on adb. whenever I plug it to my computer I get a prompt on tv to enable debugging but it directly disappears and my remote is not connected to press on it.
on adb when I put adb devices, when the screen is black it shows authorizing near my device ID, but then it continues with the loop.
Is there a way to enable debugging from my computer, or do it through the prompt on tv, even if my remote seems not to be connected. Appreciate your help

Hi Doc not sure this will help anyone but I changed aspect ratio on my tv to 4:3 and left it plugged in for two day had the a black screen unplugged it and plugged it back and wow 😮 its back 👍👌

Have a firestick lite that I followed your lead on stopping updates and I installed another launcher and all the usual cool apps. I then deregistered the account. Now adding a new account I get registration successful message and bootloop. What could be the fix for that? I don't think it's an app that caused it. Everything was working fine before I deregistered account.
When i write adb devices i dont see my device at all, did some research, it says i have to enable adb debugging from the stick software itself, which i cannot access due to infinite boot loop
How did you download that folder to edit it with adb?
Question, what if the computer isn't "connecting" to the computer, not recognizing the device, tried different cables did all the steps correctly etc. just not connecting. Should I try the keyboard/dongle approach that's been posted on the web as well or is this just a lost cause??
Did you get any solution to fix bootloop? I have a fire stick 4k in that state.
I wish this video was available when mine was doing the same over the same 2 apps. I tried everything and nothing would work. I did fix it tho. All I did was plug in to power and not plugged to the tv. Every day I would hook up my small tv to see if it was looking and it was. It took like 4 to 5 days of looping till finally I hooked it up and it was just a dark grey screen. Unplugged from power and back in and Bam it started like new :)

I had this very same problem with a boot loop after using an incorrect adb code to upgrade the launcher on my 4k AFT. I then proceeded to reset my device back to factory. Yet it wouldn't work and just caused my device to go into a boot loop. Yet my solution was solved easier than this. Disconnect all your usb attachments from your AFT/Firestick and plug it in normally to your tv and power cord only. There was a conflict with using usb attachments such as usb hub, Ethernet adapter and USB Flash drive. The factory reset didn't like all of those items attached and wasn't working properly. Once all that was disconnected and the AFT booted right up normally.

After running the prompt "adb devices" it shows the Fire Stick being attached, but it is saying "Unauthorized". When I go to run "adb shell" I get an error message saying "error: device unauthorized. Please check the confirmation dialog on your device". What can I do from here?

I have been facing a similar problem but I own a firestick, it's not firestick 4k. My TV is not booting past the Firestick logo and after that, my storage and applications are getting optimized, when's the process's done, this whole thing is again getting repeated.
