Myrrine: I'm so glad to finally have seen you for the first time in years Also Myrinne: Meet me in Lakonia and travel to a remote island without me where I'll never know if something happens to you
i played as Alexios and during this scene is the first time I've ever been so moved by a video game that I couldn't help shedding a tear or two. This was so well done... the questline to locate Myrinne, the lore leading up to this moment, the voice acting and the animation... Alexios' face expressed exactly how one would feel finding their long lost mother. Amazing. This is why Odyssey is the most underrated AC game in my opinion.
I thought this reunion scene was handled beautifully. Not too overly sappy as many other videogame makers may have done. Emotional, but also some undercurrents of tension and disbelief.
It was so touching cos we normally don't see this side of her and instead normally see her rough and tumble, sarcastic, witty, impatient side which she has for the outside world
Kassandra became one of my favorite video game characters. The voice actress was phenomenal. She's cunning, powerful, vengeful, flirty, sarcastic, fun, and has a heavenly voice. Really wanna see her in another game. They could do a Kassandra spin off in any time period, seeing her as a spy for the allies in WW2 would be so cool. Ubisoft did her dirty marketing Alexios as the main character, it seemed like they threw Kassandra in just to be inclusive but Odyssey should be her game. I’m glad she’s the canon protagonist
i mean they’ve stated that she’s the canon version of “main character”. the only reason why they marketed alexios so much is because of sexism and appealing to a male audience

I loved this scene, but as a 3D Artist I couldnt help but notice how at 1:13, Myrrine's hand hovers above Kassandra's back, not touching it, to compensate for the fact that the player might have chosen a huge torso armor that would cause clipping.
@@apexpredator9021I was close to doing so a couple of years ago! I dropped out of the selection process when I found a job closer to home in Madrid. Closest Ubisoft studio was in Barcelona.
@@gabrielst828 It means you're very observant :) But noticing the hand-torso distance is not necessarily the same as knowing technically why it's there.
I'd rather say the opposite. Her eyebrows barely move and she doesn't fit the role, and her VA is worse. Alexios' VA is way better and far more emotional.
@Mystery Ninja Solver Nah, you'd be surprised how many times a played as a woman and even interacted with men rather than women in romances, since I'm hetero, but that's besides the point. I just see true emotions in Alexios whereas Kassandra has much less impact on me when I rewatch the same mission as Kassandra on YT. I just don't see those emotions that this guy truly has, his crackling voice as if truly terrified or very sad when Phoibe died or when he met his mother and I visually compare them both and the developers put much more effort in showing emotions on his face, his smile, his tears and eye brows that really move and his voice expresses perfectly what the face is showing. I don't see that with Kassandra. The best example is when you fight the arena champion, the guy who talks about his daughter, that he wants to see her and he doesn't want to die as an sad broken old man but go out in blaze of glory while dying from your hand. See the one where the player chooses he will not fight him and then see the response she would be proud. Then the part where Alexios stares at the sea and asks about life the arena owner and the response the champion went out as a hero, not as a sad old broken man. Compare those answers very same answers Alexios is giving to Kassandra - she acts as if nothing happened, I mean you cannot feel the emotions flowing through you like in Alexios instance. She is much worse in a compelling story telling. Even when she meets her mother she doesn't come close to how Alexios is all emotional. I can relate to Alexios much more than Kassandra. What's funny (or rather sad) I too have a similar family. We aren't there for each other and the cult is our diseases that keep us apart. I have a depression for 16 years now, my sister want talk to me, and my parents are tired of me. Only I don't have saves and cannot reload when I screw up. I live for nothing. Only games bring me joy cause I can escape the sad reality of not having any friends and my family that hates me and doesn't support me, doesn't want to so I take drugs to not feel the pain. Sorry, I got off topic, I just have no one to talk to and sometimes I write too much. I'm thinking of ending my life everyday. Some day I will kill myself and don't bother anyone anymore.
@Mystery Ninja Solver Well, when you play as a guy, and you are a guy, you can relate much more to that person when you romance people in a game, like the rebel on Silver Islands (don't remember her name). Sorry for all the mistakes. When I read my post I couldn't believe how many mistakes I made... I mean English is not my native language but still... That's probably the effect of me being wrecked emotionally when I wrote that long ass post. Not that I'm feeling right now any better, maybe just a little, but damn. What I wrote is some incoherent mambo jumbo. Well, that's the, as I said earlier, effect of being depressed and being on drugs. I wasn't thinking clearly. Anyways, to each their own. I think it's the effect of choosing who you are going to play. You play Kassandra, you like Kassandra better because you are used to her voice, know how it sounds and you're better in seeing her voice actress' nuances and expressions more clearly. Same effect for Alexios, you play him, the same thing applies to him, you are used to his voice and like him better. And that's the whole idea, won't you agree? Or sometimes you replay as the other and you can in the end appreciate both. Maybe I'd have to play as her, which I won't, cause I don't replay games anymore.
@@belladonnahigh9206 I agree with as well as with the final thought but I think Aleksios reaction is obectivaly better and closer to truth. The way Kassandra is animated in tis cutscene is perfect. She becomes this excited yet nervous little girl happy to see her mother again. It's such a vulnerable moment. And major kudos to Melissanthe's performance here, her voice is so delicate compared to most of the game.

The characterisation of Myrrine in the game is very erratic.
