You must use heavy duty sockets not chrome as chrome one's can shatter.

I've never had any issues with he chrome ones as far as the material is concerned. The only downside is the star shaped pattern; 12 sides instead of the 6 sides of the new set I've bought since. I wasn't able to apply as much force to a stuck nut with the 12 side socket compared to the 6 side because they would have a tendency to jump and round of the nut.

First off, do yourself a favor, switch those steelwheels to aluminium. those kinds are a bit to heavy for the engine. I have an 2004 1.6 L35 105HK/150Nm wagon liited edition. I tell you, you'll feel it right away when changing those wheels for winter aluminium. Had those same steelrims, and I could also see a better fuel economy.

It's just a reliable car to get us from A to B. I'm not investing any money just to change the wheels. What really matters is the tires, which I'll have to look into next year.
