Hello Novo I never thought one could keep Bull ants in captivity. As I understand that they are difficult to keep alive and need certain conditions. I used to have a lot of exotic pets but I had to leave the hobby. I am from Detroit Mich and it's not "cool" really to keep exotic pets around. Because of your posts I get to have the pets visually and online. The clarity of the camera makes it like the real thing. I would have never got the chance to even see Bull ants as they are not legal in the states. If they were I would probably try to get a starter colony which is dangerous. I have a list of all the creatures I want to see at my area zoo and Bull ants is one of them. The zoo is free and I could come and see them all the time then. Thanks for this!
That’s great! I’m glad the videos are good for you. Yes some countries have strict laws around importing animals, Australia is like that, I would love leaf cutters but cannot get them here. Hope you enjoy the videos as I make them. 👍🏼
Crazy close-up videography! Looks awesome!! 👏
Thank you!
Great video and great to have you back posting videos - your colony has really grown - macro shots are really great - congratulations 🎉😊
Thanks G! Yes good to be back. A mixture of long form and shorts on the channel from now on I think. Livestream coming soon as well.
I am amazed at how well they see things around them just like jumping spider.
Yes their eyes are amazing. They navigate by vision not chemical trails
Love this colony 😊 setups looking spic and span. Already filmed the ann or this would be on it.
Thanks mate. I’ve been out of action recently so unable to make videos but hopefully I’m back now and can upload more often. 👍🏼
It's a growing colony and it's great to see. Where I live, Pyriformis is much cleaner around the nest. All the rubbish is put away from the nest
Yeah interesting, I love how different the species are. My Nigrocincta also put rubbish away from themselves. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
awesome video!
Super video man!!! love to see them doing good :D
Thank you 🙏
A beautiful species of ants. 🙂 Interesting video 👍🏻
Thank you very much.
they look great, i can't wait for our myrmecia colonies to get established. we have Pyriformis, Nigriceps and species 17 as well.
Awesome! You will have your hands full with that many established Myrmecia colonies
@@NovoAnts we will, but it will be worth it
Another whole great video mate, and question do you let the elites into the wild?
Thank you 🙏 Yes I either release them into the wild during nuptial time or send them to someone who Teys and breeds them.
Thumbs up to the patreons 😁😁😁
Yes definitely. They are fantastic and really help the channel
Wow amazing new video
Thanks ☺️
Wow! Such a big colony! Congrats, cuz it’s hard to raise the bull ant SP.😊
Yes thank you, they have done very well. I had a head start though as this was a rescued colony.
when and whats the best time to catch queen Myrmecias
That was awesome
I notice that some ants looked like they were asleep or dormant, is that because of the season.
Thanks 😊
Yes the colder months mean the colony slows down.
not necessarily. its true colonies slow down when its cold but ants actually sleep many times a day
I love your videos can you give some tips on how to keep bull ants
Thanks so much. I’ll have to do a video on that, they can be very tricky and I’m by no means a pro
I have a question, i always wanted to have bull ants Harpegnathos Venator and what are the differences between all these subspecies of the bull ants?
Good question. I have never had venator but would love to. I think they are fairly similar to raise. Both semi claustral, take a while to develop. Both sting and hunt.
I enjoyed the video and lesson about keeping bull ants, but my question is have you ever mixed species together with other species?
Thank you very much. I would one day like to mix species in a large outworld with seperate nests and see how they go. Not 2 species that would definitely attack each other though, ones that could coexist
Im just beginning to raise single Queen bull ant Mymercia Brenvinoda and how long did ur colony gave to this massive 😮
This colony was rescued so had a few workers already. But getting it to a decent size can take a couple of years, it’s a great journey though
Amazing video, i recommend getting a better mic
Thanks 🙏 I’ve got a good mic but I think I need to tweek things. Is it just not loud enough or needs to be clearer?
@@NovoAnts both i think :)
No problem, thanks for the feedback
@@NovoAnts love your content, are you thinking to do propelonis Nites content in future?
Not sure what they are, not native to Australia?
I have Camponotus Ligniperdia ants, where can I find Myrmecia Brevinoda queens For sale in Europe?
Everywhere I look it says out of stock.
They are hard to find for sale in Europe but keep an eye out. They generally will be available around December and January
@@NovoAnts thanks a lot mate.
did your myrmecia nigriceps queen die? because I noticed that it wasn't in your ant room tour, nor was the pilosula
Yeah they both died unfortunately, Myrmecia can be hard. I’ve learnt some lessons with them.
do you have any tips on nigrocinta queen at the founding stage, i've been having some trouble keeping them overseas, thank you
They can be quite difficult. Try your best not to disturb her. If she doesn't have eggs just put a small bit of honey in the outworld and leave her alone for a while. Just top up the honey as needed. Don't be tempted to peer in and have a look. They love to eat their brood. Occasionally you can look, once a week. When she has eggs again leave her but you want to know when those eggs hatch so you can immediately drop a cricket in for her. Hope that helps.
@@NovoAnts thanks for the tips ❤
When are you going to do a update on Iridomyrmex purpureus colony. Queen Opal and the Scavenger Gems???
Planning one this month, been very busy but have some time coming up this month to catch up on a few videos. Thanks for your patience
@@NovoAnts hi, i have a Meat ant queen, to be exact, 5. Have nay advice?
Thanks for the amazing footage, always the best content. I just want to share, I have been providing my ant colonies with a product called insect gut load. It is to feed to criketts etc before feeding to reptiles and contains much protien and essential minerals. My thoughts were my ants (meat ants, bull ants etc) would get the benefit from either eating prey or eating it directly. Any thoughts, have you tried?
Thank you so much! Appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos. With the guy load, I use the same thing. The crickets love it and I feel they get extra nutrients that then are passed on to the ants. I like it. 👌🏼👍🏼
What happened to your myrmercia nicriceps? I dont see update for a long time
She died unfortunately. I might get another but I’ll concentrate on the colonies I have at the moment
@@NovoAnts so sad, may I ask why she died?
@@transama5375 it was due to heat I think. We had a heat wave and it stressed many queens. I lost a few and had to move several into air conditioning. Sometimes they just die though for no apparent reason.
Here from the US watching because the sale of queen ants are banned
Thanks for watching the channel. Why are they banned?
Come to Aus where they are from and enjoy yourselves there are trillions here
😳
😂 interesting to see inside a colony and watch them eat
