Thanks for watching this update on my bull ant colony! Check out the bull ant dig I did, very fun and interesting. ruclips.net/video/cjDtWj6uKk4/видео.html
We have spoken on Australian any lover page, and I’m a fan of your vids! Definitely going to play with a plaster set up when my nigrocincta colony grows ❤️
Great Job! Very entertaining and educational. Ive been stung by a large red myrmecia species and it was surprisingly subtle. Felt like being poked by a thin twig. A worker from my colony climbed up my tweezers once 😧.🐜🐜🐜
Thanks heaps for those nice comments. Glad the sting wasn’t to bad, a Freud. Got stung by these and was in heaps of pain so I’ll avoid it as best I can. 😰
13:32 I can’t be the only one that heard “Hugh Janiss”. If you’re a real person, I’m sorry for making fun of your name. But also, thank you for making me lol. 😂
Hi, this outside world is very nice. I have my pyriformis in a natural setup, but with extra tubes. But the observation is not so good. I took a new foundation of pyriformis that I think to put in an artificial setup like this one. On the other hand with brevinoda do you have much loss of cocoon ?
Thanks, I’m proud of it and I think I get better each time. Yeah the reason I like these setups is so I can observe them and record them for everyone. I have very few fails with cocoons in these setups, this colony has been great. Do you get many or just don’t see? I think it’s natural to have failures.
@@NovoAnts I don't know where you bought this 3D nest you are using and if it is available for people living in France, but I would love to try it. If you know the supplier, I would like the link. For the cocoons at pyriformis, yes I have about thirty, with larvae. But since a while, very regularly, I have cocoons thrown outside. In France at the moment it is winter and the air is humid and cold.... maybe that has an influence....
Yep I know what you mean. After that I actually put a cover over the tubing running into the nest. Great observation. Always best to keep the nest area dark
I’m super new to ants so sorry for the silly question… but if you joined the nest to a bigger outworld ( 3-4 foot tank ) would they get stressed with that much room?
That has always been a question I have pondered. When a colony is founding the small outworld is a good idea as it’s less stress and they can find the food you give them easily. However with a larger colony a bigger outworld should be fine, I would love a huge outworld for this colony…if I can I will upgrade it to at least a 4 foot tank. My Consobrinus colony have a 2 foot tank and they are out growing that as well.
@@NovoAnts I guess as I get more experienced I will tell with how they react to different outworlds. The awesome part is you can always join more tanks up with holes and tubes as the colony grows.
I heard that these ants workers (which i knew before but only in 50%) after queens dies can lay fertile and infertile eggs which means its like a queen, and i though they could lay only infertile but some specialist said workers do lay fertile eggs and also that breeding queens (making them fertile) is also easy. I always wanted these ants bc they are like.. They have great vision, a stinger they can use, menacing look(sometimes cute when they look into ur eyes when u spectate what they are doing), workers are literaly like queens, and they are easy to make new fertile queens :) 11/10 ants. I also heard they can get along with their owner if they find their owner trustable.
They are amazing species. I love bull ants but a healthy fear is needed. I haven’t been stung by brevinoda yet. Worker can lay eggs and they feed these to brood when protein is scarce I believe. Some species the workers can become queens but I’m not fully over how that all works, so much still to learn. It’s funny how each colony has a personality. Thanks for watching and commenting
I think the setup is neat but if you were going to do an upgrade, this isn't a very big improvement from the last in terms of space to explore. It looks like they could do with a lot more space to venture, I'm thinking many times the one you did.
@@NovoAnts Yeah, you did a really nice video though! It was great to listen to you talk about them. Informative and fascinating. Definitely give us updates!
I was worried about that as well but they seem fine and it doesn’t bother them. I’ve made their next outworld with a nice big tube. I’ll transfer them later in the year I think

Ive never seen ants that big in person.. its really cool.
Yes one of the largest species in the world! So happy to have them.
Scary even, they are a trip. mid way he went to grab one with the tweezers and she was fighting back. Freaked me out.
excellent video as always
Cheers 😊👍🏼
Wow! Really Cool, Novo! Are yu thinking of doing anything for 4k?
Thanks. Nothing major, probably at 5k. I am doing a couple of reviews soon which have giveaways.
@@NovoAnts Cool, you should get a Amblyopone australis colony.

Thanks for watching. Let me know how you go with the plaster setup when you do it. I have a discord channel as well if interested, link in description
Hugh Janiss lmao 🤣 😂 😆

Your so close to 4k Subs!
🎉 nearly there!

Thanks and I’m really happy that it has helped
Very nice new setup.
Thank you 🙏
Really enjoyed this video ❤

Thank you so much, really appreciate that
Very nice video!
Thank you very much!
Looks great 👍
Thanks 😊
I love that out world design
I cant wait for meat ants upgrade
Thanks, I like it and they seem to as well. Yes meat ant outworld will be out soon…
Congrats on 4K!
Thanks 🙏
tidy little outworlds :D cant beat glass tanks tbh.
Yeah I like to make them a little natural. Makes viewing the ants more pleasing to the eyes I think.
Magnificent!!!! What a nice outworld
Thank you very much. Appreciate you watching and commenting

Turned out really nice..
Thank you. They have a really nice big one coming.
What is the barrier made from to stop them to reach the mesh? Thank you
It is fluon or PTFE, I made a recent video on a very good one from The Ant Lab, Ant Park ant barrier. Thanks for wathcing
@@NovoAnts Thank you for taking time to respond :)
Awesome video great information as always thank you 😊
Thanks Gordon, it was a fun build and I’m happy with the result.
Idk anything about ant keeping but if you got the tube going under the ground shouldn't the tube be covered to its dark all the way and comfortable

9:30 slow motion 😂
😬
Amazing colony gets real hard when they get too big
Yes they will be a challenge and I’m sure I’ll have many more nest and outworld upgrades coming

How did you get that glass container
The glass outworld is a small fish tank that I made. I drilled a hole in the glass with a special drill bit
@@NovoAnts thanks
What plaster did you use?
I use plaster of Paris from a hardware shop, Bunnings. I find it easy and cheap. Big tip, let it dry out really well before introducing a colony
Looks cool❤
Thank you 🙏 I am happy with how it came out. Bit nicer for the colony now

terrifyingly Big animals.
And I have a Herculeanus Queen, But those Bulls are out of this world
Yeah they are a next level ant…scary and amazing at the same time.
Cool
😊👍🏼
Bull ants and meat ants- pure savagery, I’m glad fire ants don’t get so big
Yeah very scary species!

Yes I agree they need way more room. I’ll work on getting a new tank for them. They don’t explore to much but maybe because of limited room

Stay tuned tomorrow as I drop an update. My Patreons have it now and it will be made public tomorrow
Hmm the autralian bull ant they have major and worker to
Some species do, not all bull ant species have different size workers. 😊👍🏼
The tube seems a bit tight for those huge girls

Is these bullant expensive? And where I can buy them 😊
They can be…depends where you live? You can get them from Australia but some shops overseas sell them.
Ok. I will check on your ant Aus shop description. Im newbie but love this ant so much…. But it hard to keep this 😢
Are you in Australia?
Hough janiss😂😂😂😂

Nope still safe! Probably going to happen one day but I have a healthy fear 😨
