Look at that crowd! The energy!! INXS was one of those bands that got mad respect; from serious music aficionados, metal heads, goths, casual music fans, older and younger people. Just a legendary act with a brilliant catalogue of songs. Those guys worked their absolute arses off on the Australian pub scene for years and deserved every bit of their success.

Most of the Oz bandsof the 60s & 70s came out of live music venues - the big pub venues. (INXS came - mostly - out of the beach pub scene). So in that envirnmenty you always needed a great lead, to get up over the pub noise and to hold the attention of the crowd. The Oz pub scene was a hugley competitive environment from which so many earlier Oz bands and voices spawned; it was musical Dawinism. Oz bands weren't manufactured by some Stock Aitken & Waterman music factory, they had to thrive to survive. So after the sad death of Michael, the members tried a few things, before settling back into the music business. INXS' Melbourne -born saxophonist Kirk Pengilly married Australian ex-world surfing champion Layne Beachley and they set up house in the northern Sydney beachside of Manly.

I miss male singers that sound… male. What a legend! Gone too soon. RIP Michael!

I agree. I'm so over the high-pitched male singers..

Hello from south France *Beth Roars,*
Thanks for this reaction; good job!
Can I suggest you react to *"INXS - By My Side (Official Live Video) Live From Wembley Stadium 1991 / Live Baby Live"* (from the same concert you reacted to here)? A straightforward song, but it has this indescribable thing that gives it the lifting effect, if you see what I mean... One of my favorites of them with *"Never Tear Us Apart"* and *"Original Sin."*
    Peace, folks. ☮😏

It's great that you mention the farriss brothers: Jon at the drums, Andrew at the keyboards and guitarist Tim (the one with the Jesus shirt).

Judging by this it seems to me your a fan of this band?
Never seen anyone so energetic and having a good time, it’s like you’ve just been plucked out of the audience during this performance.
I guess your just your avenge extraordinary woman with extraordinary taste..
I shall be looking up all this bands music for myself.

Would you please watch their appearance on the Arsenic Hall show? He really freestyles and it’s glorious.
He sings What U Need and it’s just amazing.

I cant believe you consider the lyrics to be so trivial. They aren't complicated its simplistic yet joyous in the manner in which you described his singing. You overlook he is also singing with bravado and fearlessness, singing with power and in doing so giving power. He is wishing wonderful sentiments to someone specifically while sharing it to anyone who is listening. Theres not a much more powerful gift you can give someone. He's being generous freely giving his love and wanting to lift everyone up in a most beautiful and powerful way in the manner of the strength of his voice way. He speaks of human frailty as well as the strength of the human soul. You really need to study lyrics more especially in your position. Know something about these people you critic and their philosophies. It will add an entirely new dimension to what you receive. This coming from a son whose mother reacheved her masters in music and was a classically trained singer and pianist. My grandfather sang and played piano in a jazz ragtime band on a Mississippi riverboat between St Louis and New Orleans during the 20s as well.
