I just heard this wonderful lady about a month ago. Looks like I got a lot of catching up to do. And what a treat for these old eyes. She's got it all.
How she talks completely calm, unassuming and 'mythless' (if that translates to English) about following those Blues guitar masters and at the same time about learning Latin guitar style while en passant decorating all that with a sparkling Flamenco figure that instantly features Granada is to put it conservatively my cup of tea out-and-out. And that's just the artistic string. ❤😊 Thankyou.
I love it when she plays this guitar and sings the foundational songs of the blues and rock and roll. Transports me to another time but makes me feel so connected to it. Her voice is awesome. So underrated as a guitarist. Does more than one style and totally feels the blues in her single note and double stop phrases.
Sue est une artiste méconnue bourrée de talent. Je l'ai découverte il y a peu de temps et j'adore son style. Sa beauté n'a rien à envier à sa dextérité. 🥰👏
Very cool interview and performance...nice to hear her in an intimate, solo setting, including the nylon string. I've been following her career for over 3 decades, having first seen her as a teen, up in Edmonton. She could always play really well, right from that period, but her voice and writing have really blossomed, over the years. Thanks!
Wow! Amazing playing and an incredible voice to boot! Thanks for sharing this, it was wonderful to watch. Now I need to go listen to everything she's done :-)
I saw Sue Foley and her band about 15 years ago at The North Star Bar in Philadelphia. Her Tele was buzzing up a single coil storm but Sue was great. She' the real deal. She's Sue Ann Barton with serious guitar chops.
No entendí lo que canta por que no hablo inglés pero me pareció una interpretación muy hermosa 😮 te envío un saludo desde la ciudad de México y por supuesto mí like
Anybody know the make of the amp behind Sue about 4.20 mins in with the controls on the front and the VOX type cloth underneath please...Dave in Manchester, UK.
If you want to hear Sue do a great cover of a great song check out Positively Fourth Street off Back to the Blues. Raw and stripped down version more in tune with the harsh lyrics than Bob Dylan's original and I love Bob Dylan's version, just not as much as I love Sue's ,
This was one of two songs recorded by Mattie in the 1930’s... Her song "Down the Big Road Blues" is a variant of Tommy Johnson's "Big Road Blues". They share a similar chorus “I can't go down that big road by myself I can't go down that big road by myself If I can't carry you, I carry someone else” Cheers!

I love her guitar playing, but what a great vocalist! Her debut album is still one of my favorites!
Her singing has improved from her younger days.

The earlier we go into the blues, the cooler it gets.

Seriously, this woman should be a professor!
She was an Assistant Professor at Catawba College in North Carolina for awhile...
@@kitano0 I had a feelin'! Thanks for the info!👍
I just reckon she’s the most under recognised guitarist on the planet. How can that be?
Wow!
Subbed👍🏼
Even better now

@@midwestfisherman Thank you so much will check it out.
So great. I would have guessed she is from the deep south, say Georgia, Texas and the like.

It's spelled "flair"
Thanks! Although she is on fire;)
If the REAL composer (Tommy Johnson !) had been credited, that video would be much nicer !
